Morning swept over the forest in a cacophony of sounds - strange birds crying out, insects humming, animals calling... Ash listened from his perch on the roof of Doktar Jeddy's house, his pupils slit against the sun. He wore his smaller scaled form - it was easier to hold than his largest form, and just as suited to hunting. And today was a day for hunting - he had decided that the night before.
He was looking forward to stretching his wings a bit, but he was also a little worried. He had been taught to hunt as a fledgling, but he had never really had to hunt back at the Eyrie, and certainly he had never practiced doing it alone. Still, he had decided that he would hunt a pihg for Doktar Jeddy, as he owed the man for dinner. And he had said there was some sort of pihg in the forest - or at least, it had seemed like he had said that. And if he couldn't find a pihg, well... at the very least, he endeavored to come home with something - there must be other game in the woods!
He sat just a little longer, stretching and waking up as the sun began to warm the roof, then he picked himself up and launched, beating his wings to gain height. There likely wouldn't be prey too close to Doktar Jeddy's dwelling, he would have to look farther afield... but there was this broad expanse of forest about him, sloping up into rocky mountains not so far away. Surely he would find something. And he could use the endeavor to acquaint himself with his surroundings a bit more.
He let his wings carry him a good distance away from Jedidiah's home, part way up the sparsely wooded face of one of the nearer mountains, before he stopped to circle and search the ground for prey. He had spotted something moving as had drawn near, but now that he was closer, whatever it was had stilled again... He just needed to wait for it to move and then he would be able to stoop...

zavijah:
she carefully crept along the forest floor. . .wearing another boar cloak as she searched for game. . .perhaps another bear, or a tiger, or even a deer. . . but, she had to keep her ears on the lands around her. . and listen carefully to the creatures around her. . . .before she heard the sounds of a rabbit scuttling along the forest floor. . she carefully crept behind it before jumping the rabbit. . catching it with some struggle. . .it was rather bigger then the rabbits she normally saw. . but to her annoyance, it squeaked and made loud noises as she adjusted her grip before she used her hand to clamp it's mouth shut. . .
she then sighed, and looked around for a flat stone, so she may kill it. . . and tied a rope around its neck and chest carefully in case she lost grip of the rabbit. .

Ash's dark scales would have better suited him hunting at night, but he hoped they would not stand out too badly to prey below. The books Doktar Jeddy had shown him included a variety of ground predators, but not many that appeared to be aerial - he hoped that meant ground-prey wouldn't be expecting a hunter stooping from above.
Whatever it was below moved again - a small creature, running through the brush. Too small to make much of a meal on its own, certainly too small to bring back to Doktar Jeddy. He nearly turned away, but then he saw something larger moving, stalking the small thing. A ground predator? He circled carefully, hoping to keep himself out of sight. At a glance it looked like one of the pihgs from the book, the same color, at least, although the shape was... odd, and its head was oddly thin. Its limbs moved oddly, and after a moment he realized that it was not alive - rather, another creature moved beneath it, pale humanoid limbs darting out from beneath the flapping hide. It was a human, wearing the skin of a pihg. Not prey.
He considered turning away to search for prey elsewhere, but he was curious. The pihg-wearing-human had pounced upon one of the small skittering things, which had loosed a high pitched scream when it had dropped upon it. It was... different than how he had thought humans hunted. They used spears and bows, didn't they? He tipped his wings and dropped lower, gradually spiraling down, then landed as lightly as he could upon a branch overlooking the human-thing and its prey. The wood creaked in protest under his weight, but held, and his tail wrapped around the thick branch to steady himself.
"Ava'yorn?" He called down to the human, his voice deep, but as soft and non-threatening as he could make it. "Wux maulk... nn... pihg?" She wouldn't understand him and he didn't know enough of the human language yet to help that, but he tried using at least one of the words he knew, gesturing to indicate her cloak.

her ears twitched at the sounds of something landing above her. . . something rather big. . .before it barked in a deep and bellowing voice. . she glanced back to see who or what was going on behind her. . .she watched as he spoke and gestured to his head, before it clicked apon what he might mean. . . .she stood up with the rope in hand. . .the rabbit tied by the other end. . . before she bowed her head to the being, and removed her cloak with a free hand, before gesturing to it as to what he means.
"would you like one like this? or would you like to learn hao to make such? " she asked. . .the being did speak a language of some kind. . .otherwise there is chance. . . she might of received one too many blows to the head. . . . "or perhaps to simply hunt one. . ."

She spoke the same language Doktar Jeddy did, although her words meant little to him. She removed the skin and offered it up toward him, gesturing to it as she spoke. Was she trying to give it to him? He indicated negative with the set of his scales and his crest, then shook his head, gesturing with his hands for her to take it back. "Thric. Si tir ti tuor coi. Si tuor ekess maulk coi. Pihg. Maulk pihg."
His crest flattened a moment as he thought on how to make her understand. After a moment he gestured toward the rabbit, then mimed what she had done in pouncing upon it, feeling awkward. "Hefoc wux maulk batobot. Maulk pihg."
"Tir wux vucot svaklar pihg ui?" He pointed toward the skin again, then mimed looking around, as if searching.

ah, so perhaps he wishes to hunt then? . . this was made obvious to hao he seemed to act out what he meant. . .she merely nodded in response. . . before looking around the woods of the mountain. . .she first looked to the south. . .to where she saw a sight she would rather have not witnessed. . . there was a couple it would seem out in the woods, whom were rather entangled in eachother. . in a rather intimate level. . she could even tell what positions they were taking, who was on top. . .it shocked her abit that people would do such an intimate practice, something so private, out in the wilderness as if they were beasts, themselves. . . .
Thank God she had earplugs in otherwise she would of been able to hear every. . single. . detail. of the exchange. . .even at the distance they were at, it would be loud to her . . the strange things the wilderness has to offer. . she slowly and silently turned away from that direction, not wishing to look further apon the scene that played out in the distance, and looked to the west. . before she saw the auras of many boar. . .she placed the cloak back apon her head and glanced over towards Ash, giving him a hushing like gesture, before gesturing him to follow. . .and quietly headed towards the direction of the large group of boars. . . . from what she could tell, there were even boars that rival the size of cattle and bears. . . those might be far more aggressive then the rest of the boars. . .counting them. . .there was perhaps 60 boar ahead. . .she could hear their breathes, their heartbeats. . .even to the detail of which boar was impregnated and with a litter of hao many. . .

Ash shifted on his tree, regarding the woman as she looked around. After a moment he followed her gaze, tilting his head up to scent the air. She was looking in the direction of the city - would there be pihgs that way? He would have thought a wild thing would prefer not to be near habitation. His crest lifted slightly, but he wasn't sure what to make of the smells he caught from that direction. When her attention shifted, he focused on her again, then followed her gaze as it turned toward the mountains. That way seemed more likely...
When she gestured for him to follow he considered a moment, then reluctantly climbed down from his perch. It would be easier to follow on the ground, even if he preferred to hunt on the wing. He crept after her, holding himself low, his wings folded close to his back. He felt a bit vulnerable on the ground like this, and he tried to keep his guard up. He had no idea how large predators got here, and he certainly didn't want to be surprised by something large jumping at his back. He needed to keep his wings safe, after all...
He crept forward until a new and stong smell assailed him - a musky animal scent. Was it what he was hunting? He paused, letting the woman continue on ahead, then carefully circled to the side and climbed up another tree. He kept to the thick branches and moved out along them, moving slow and careful, keeping his gaze on the ground. When he spotted movement ahead he froze again, focusing on it. It was a brown creature of the general shape of the pihgs Doktar Jeddy had shown him, but it bore faint stripes going along the length of its hide. It was well camouflaged, and if it weren't moving, it would have been difficult for him to pick out. Another larger creature moved nearby and his eyes twitched to it - this one was a solid brown and seemed to be herding the striped one somewhere else...

she pondered apon hao to tell the strange being to be careful around these creatures. . . in such large packs, they are a force to be reckoned with. . . dangerous, even. . . her ear twitched at the prospect of using the rabbit. . . she grimaced. . . but to use a life to do this. . . .haoever, it was no different then when she allowed birds to land on her greatsword's hilt to show another hao dangerous it was to touch it for them. . . but those birds did choose to land where it does. . .she quietly apologized to the rabbit before pulling it out and snapping its neck. . . it at least deserves a quick death. . .this was done with unsettling ease with a quiet crack. . .better this way for the rabbit. . . the two closest to her did not seem to even notice her. . .one of them even assumed it was from the group and wandered over in the direction. . . she sighed. .
she tried to get the dragon's attention before pointing it at the rabbit-obviously dead, used her free hand to signal for the dragon to watch the rabbit before throwing the rabbit in the middle of the large group of boars. . . even landing a direct hit apon one of the largest of the pigs. . . . it reacted but knew not what had just happened. . before it saw the rabbit, its attacker!
they then all smelled the scent of blood, and started to circle and ram through to eat the rabbit. . .it was the rabbit's fault ripping into the small body like overgrown, hairy piranha. . .hopefully the dragon saw this. . . so he would heed this warning carefully apon the viciousness of the group of boars. . .it took a while for the boars to calm down. . . . she glanced over at the dragon, before back at the group. . . scanning the area to see if there was a strangler near the edge of the group. . .

Movement in the woman's direction caught Ash's attention - she waved a hand at him. He shifted his gaze from the creatures, turning his head just slightly so he could focus on the woman without fully turning away from the pihgs. His scaled brow furrowed, his crest shivering, as she pointed to the limp form of the rabbit - he wasn't sure what she was trying to get at. Then she flung the small limp body away and his gaze followed the line of its motion. He lifted slightly, raising his head to better see where it landed.
The pihgs squeeled and turned on the tiny carcass near immediately, working themselves into a frenzy. He watched, holding still, as they fought and jostled amongst each other to tear the limp body apart and consume it. A few of the creatures stayed back from the frenzy, most of the striped ones and a few brown ones that continued to herd the striped ones back when they tried to approach the mob. A few smaller brown individuals meandered away from the group, rooting around in the bushes. One was even fairly close to his tree.
Perhaps she had thrown the rabbit to distract them? Many of them did seem distracted now. His attention focused on the one nearby. Its posture seemed wary - perhaps it smelled him? - but it continued to creep nearer, snuffling at the ground as it moved, its ears pricked up. He shifted his weight slowly, easing himself into a position where he could drop on it. He wondered if the herd would scatter when he dropped onto it - he was uncertain. But the animal below him wasn't small, nearing half his size, and he wasn't sure if he would be able to carry it far. He wasn't really in a good position for carrying it, either, and the trees were too close together for him to fully extend his wings down here.
He shifted again, then abruptly leaped down from the tree. His clawed feet landed firmly on the creature's back, and his talons curled to dig in. It screamed, loosing a series of short high-pitched calls, and began to buck and squirm. Awkwardly he crouched atop it, trying to reach around with his clawed hands to dig into it's throat and silence it. He hissed softly, his crest flat, not liking the sound it made. It kicked at him and thrashed its head, striking him again and again, bruisingly hard though the impact was dulled by his scales. But blood-loss was slowing its movements. He wondered if this would have been easier on the wing...
Behind him, the rest of the swarm of pihgs had been alerted by the alarm calls of the pihg Ash had fallen onto. The sows herded the striped young away with their own squeals, but a few larger individuals looked poised to charge...

zavijah:
she watched as he seemed abit confused, before setting his gaze on an boar below him. . . . she took a look at the boar, it was bigger then her, and about half the size of the dragonic being. . . she sighed. . . .this might get messy. . . looking at the sheer number of pigs, she will not be able to help the being without killing some boars. . . she will not have the time to clean and seal them away either after each kill. . . she will have to seal them away as she goes. . . summon the bodies again so she can clean them and properly deal with them later as to not waste the lives taken during the time. . . so she pulled out a scroll and 5 slips of sealing paper. . . and prepare for the place and seal. . . . so when she places the paper on the body, it will be sealed away into the scroll. . . .she double checked as to make sure the corresponding seal matched what she drew out onto the scroll, to allow ability to seal into the scroll or summon, before a heavy thud of landing, claws ripping into flesh and a harsh and blood curdling squeal emitted from the boar the dragonic pounced apon. . . .the others turning towards his dirrection. . .
she sighed, before priming the scroll, putting it away in her butt purse, and pulling out her knife. . . . she will need to be agile for this. . . her other blades would be too bulky. . . she took a deep breath before taking off into the field at the closets boar, and plunging her knife deep into its throat. . . it squealed and gurgled, before she placed the first of the five paper seals on it, causing it to poof seemingly out of existance. . . sealing it away into the scroll in her butt purse. . . the obnoxious poof gave the distraction so the dragonic can continue without getting mauled by the boars. . . she moved again, this time striking a boar that stood taller then her almost. . . before placing the second paper seal on it, causing it to poof seemingly out of exsistance. . .
by this time, she has pissed the herd of them off, she grabbed onto the tusk of another large boar and lept onto its back, before they all started to swarm her and the boar she was on, attempting to get the little pest off of their fellow boar. . . . while the boar she had mounted attempted to buck her off of its back. . . .
it seemed like a boar at first, but it was attacking them. . . this thing was no boar, the boar cloak zavijah wore no longer fooled the group.

The pihg beneath him slumped down abruptly, its legs giving out under it. He heard the squealing commotion behind him, had caught a glimpse of the woman rushing into the pack of pihgs. It distressed him, and his head jerked to the side to follow her movement. The words he called after her were sharp, his voice harsh but with a slight waver of nervousness: "Thric! Coi ui korth!"
He shoved off of his prey, stumbling slightly as one of his claws stuck a moment too long in it's hide and tried to trip him. He kicked to free himself from the dying creature, then staggered to a halt as the woman touched one of the pihgs and a cloud of smoke erupted where she had touched. When it cleared the pihg was gone and the woman had moved to do the same thing to another pihg. She was... a human shaman? He was caught off guard, and he boggled as she leaped onto the back of one of the largest pihgs in the group.
He managed to shake off his startlement when he realized the entire pack had turned toward her in a squealing, grunting horde, jostling one another to get at her. Shaman or no, she would surely be overwhelmed! Forgetting his kill, Ash rushed toward the fray. Just as he reached the group he leaped for the woman, his arm outstretched. His claws caught in the fabric of her shirt and then he yanked her off her mount and against his chest, snapping out his wings and beating them hard to gain height. Tree branches struck bruisingly against his wings, but he tried to ignore them, fighting to get above the leafy cover.
"Jilg shafaer! Si geou clax udoka ekess vi tokeq goawy!" The words came out a breathless growl as he breached the canopy and began to carry them away from the pihgs. His eyes scanned the terrain below, and after a few moments lighted on a rocky outcropping a decent ways away from the pack of pihgs. He tipped his wings just slightly, angling them into a glide to carry them there...

zavijah:
she was about to start leading the boars away, pulling at the tuff of fur harshly to lead it away, thus the rest of the hoard of boar.
she was not paying attention to her companion, she merely assumed he was cleaning the boar or dragging it away to a safe place to clean it. . .
she was suddenly grabbed and whisked away, the fur slipping through her fingers easily as she lost her grip. . . .her ears twitched when he did this, before she flailed harmlessly from the sudden grappling. "bidan, éow huntnaþ! (wait, your game!)" she yelped, confused as to why he was suddenly whisking her away. . . her ears twitched at the loud breaking and snapping of branches, while his deep and low voice grumbled a breathless bark. . . she did hear him yell out at her while she was on the boar's back. . . . she sighed as they broke past the trees' reach. . . .
a part of her wondered if he planned apon dropping her. . . . was not like she could fly. . . .try and slow it down, but that wont save her from the landing seeing the height they were at. . . .she glanced behind them as the swarming, enraged hoard of boars swarmed in a blackened mass of squealing. . . she noticed hao a group of them swarmed around their fallen mate. . . before they started to eat at its flesh. . . a blood frenzy. . . ". . . although you might not understand me. . .what i did was intentional, i know what i was tempering with. . . . .it would of been you had i not acted. " she explained, for what little good it would do. . .
suddenly, there was a terrible sound of a 'bang' . . .an explosion? she felt the pit of her stomach drop from the sound of it "ash, move!" she barked, before she flinched, her ear twitching at the metallic sound of metal hitting the head of her cloak and bouncing off of his chest next to her head. she looked around to see where the shot came from before noticing a small grouping of auras off to the side in some trees. . .

Ash's grip tightened slightly when the woman flailed, grimacing slightly. He didn't want her to fall, but he was worried about holding her any more tighter, because he might hurt her with his claws. "Jilg shafaer ekess ve," he hissed, repeating himself.
She was still talking... explaining what she had been doing? He wasn't sure, but the tone of her voice seemed exasperated - he wondered if he had done something wrong... Had she been capable of fighting off all of those pihgs? A Sival Queen probably could, and surely the hunters would have been able to as well, but there would have been many of them working together... Humans were small and soft, weren't they? His crest and scales twitched in uncertainty. Well, they would be safe now, at least, both of them...
There was a sharp sound as he dropped down to land, like a thick tree branch breaking, and then the woman barked something at him and shoved at his chest. His wingbeats faltered, there was a sharp metallic ping and then something struck his chest hard, knocking the breath out of him. He dropped a few feet, then remembered to beat his wings again - the wingbeats were lopsided, one side more flailing instead of cupping the air nicely. He flailed his way to the ground, meaning to land and set the woman on her feet. He did manage to set the woman down, but the movement stirred a burning sensation in his chest, triggering a wave of pain that nearly dropped him.
He staggered to the side and collapsed, having enough presence of mind not to collapse on the woman. He felt a warm ooze of blood over his scales and hissed, curling down around himself as he tried to assess the damage. The pain was enough that he worried he would black out, but that would cause him to shift and he wasn't sure how injured he was to know how that damage might carry over to his other form. He made a small whimpering sort of noise, then probed at the wound gently with a claw tip.

she held her arms up and tried to curl her body up as the dragonic being fell, before he seemed to stagger back into the air?. . . . in a wobbly sense he was able to land. . before setting her down on the side of him, and reacting to the wound. . . she snapped her head around to look at the being as he collapsed before hurrying over to his side. . .and looking at his wound. . .
it look over the wound, grimacing. . . it looked terrible. . . and it was within scaling as well. . . she reached into her butt purse before pulling out a jade rabbit talisman "áwæcnan (awaken)" she murmured. she then tied a twine apon the talisman and tied it loosely around the dragonic being's neck as to not choke him. . .this way, the talisman will be able to heal the wound, although not instantly. . .hopefully, fast enough to aid the being. . .
"well well well. . . looks like we found another duck for my wall!" a voice jeered from the treeline. . . a small group of men and 2 women stepped out into the clearing some way's away from the two, but close enough to be able to close distance apon them. . . . .zavijah narrowed her eyes before turning around to face the group. . . keeping her right hand on the dragonic being's shoulder, while standing in the way of what she thinks might be where his vital organs lay - well, such was true with deer. . - "hay, short stuff! move out of my way! dont think i wont shoot through you!" one of the hunter's barked. she merely sheathed her knife and placed her left hand in her butt purse. . . working apon summoning her greatsword. . . "leave him be. . . he is no game nor trophy to be taken. . . . . leave nao, and you will be able to leave with all of your limbs. " she growled calmly.

Ash's probing claws found something hard lodged in his flesh, and as carefully as he could he dug it out. It was a bit of metal, smaller than an arrowhead, oddly shaped. He held it in his bloodied claws a moment, staring at it in confusion.
The woman had approached him, leaned down to tie something around his neck. He heard other, harsher voices nearby, but it was hard to focus. His claws trembled and he dropped the bit of metal. He looked up at the woman when he felt the thing she had tied to him growing warmer - not unpleasantly so - and felt the burning hole in his chest numbing. Some sort of magic? Was she a shaman then? That made a little more sense...
The harsher voices sounded again, and his gaze swung that way, focusing on the group of humans coming out of the trees. Their posture was hostile, and they seemed to be carrying some sort of weapons, although they weren't of the sort he had seen before. His wings shivered, and he drew his wings and tail in close, wrapping about himself and trying to make himself a smaller target. They probably thought he was some sort of monster.
"Si tir ti tuor ekess ouith tikilvi," he rumbled, his deep voice trembling slightly. "Si mi ti vi soti."
The woman was standing over him, her posture defensive. Did she mean to protect him from them? But there was only one of her and many of them, even if she was a shaman... Ash drew a deep breath, then awkwardly pushed himself up to stand, wincing slightly a twinge from his injury - though largely, it still felt numb. He worried a little about that, but he couldn't focus on it just now...
