Ash clung more tightly to Zavi at the shouting below, flinching at the boom of the gun and then again at the crazed human's shouting. He felt Zavi's hand on his head, the other trying to push him slightly - trying to push him away? He whined low in his throat, afraid to move away, still hurting from being stabbed and dizzy, unsure of where he was or what was happening. He tightened his grip a moment, then reluctantly let go of Zavi and brought his hands to the branch to begin to climb away.
Despite his confusion and fright, he at least was at home in the branches. He made his way carefully away from the slight woman, climbing out along the branch until it intersected another branch, then making his way across onto the other. The leaves shook slightly with his movements, the branches swaying as he made his way across them.
Even with his balance, still he nearly fell when another loud - much louder! - explosion sounded below. He flinched and froze, pressing himself low against the branch and clinging tight to it. He glanced down, uncertain what had made the noise.
---
The man did not follow his suggestion; worse, he turned his gun on Cassius. No, Alessio wouldn't have that. This was already too annoying, and the man was clearly a threat. He had fired at civilians and on an officer. He didn't deserve another warning.
Alessio leveled his own gun at the man and pulled the trigger in one quick, smooth motion. The shotgun boomed and the hunter would suddenly find a gaping hole in his chest. The slug tore through him as if his flesh were little more than damp paper, exiting his body in a spray of blood and bone. The stunned man had a moment to blink in confusion at Alessio's smirk, before bloodloss and shock dropped him like a rock.

zavijah:
she kept a hand on his back as they carefully climbed away. . . . she didn want to guess hao well he could climb in this form in comparison to his other form. . . as well as the healing talisman was, she didn want to test that against a broken neck. . .
he groused as the werewolf seemed unfazed by his bullets. . . damnit, he doesnt have time for this. . as the officer grappled onto his arm, he was jostled and shook, while he fought back to try and get a handle on the creature so he can shoot it without loosing his arm. he violently shook the beast, trying to ram the officer into trees and just out right get his arm back. . . but when the officer was off to his side. . . he felt three rather large balls rip through his chest, arm and neck. . . a thunderous boom warned of this a mere moment before he was struck. . .
as a final act of defiance, he aimed the gun of his free arm at the creature who held him down, before firing. . . missing. . . cant aim well with a hole in his arm. . .apparently this counts for point blank as well. . . . as if the weight of death grappled hooks into him by the holes in his chest and neck, he fell onto the ground. . .sauntering to try and catch his balance before that had proven useless. . . the look on his face wouldn read as someone who was afraid or at peace. . .
there was contempt in his eyes. . . his irises peeking over the horizons of his upper eyelids, but his face read rage. he was pissed he died in such a cheap shot. . . .there was fire in his eyes to the end, as his last words were incorhearant and gargled in blood. he didn even get to drag one of these freaks down to hell with him. . . .
zavijah too, jumped abit from the sudden boom from behind's happenings. . . it was loud and painful. . . she kept a hand locked on Ash's shirt, a death grip to make sure he did not fall of. . .or at least she can catch the branch if he did. . . she tried to usher him to keep moving. . . unsure if the one who had died was one of those who had come to save them. . . or the hunter. . .

Cassius did not budge, as was expected of a wolf-like beast the size of a bear, and with a mighty tug, he pulled the poacher forward and towards him, knocking him off balance and dragging him down. The beast stood strangely when it planted its feet to disarm him and prevent him from firing again. He was well-used to this sort of activity, and he knew his jaws had some stopping power, at least enough to...
Then, he heard the shots, shocking loud in his canine form. Someone had opened fire. Was it Alessio? He could not turn his head, but in the same moment, realized that the Hunter had fired. His hearing went out, ears ringing with the deafening loudness. The gun had fired too close, but he saw the man's lips move silently. He felt the life leave the arm he had gripped as it went limp and the torn body collapsed. Blood filled his nostrils. He could not help the part of it that found this thrilling.
Cassius dropped the arm of the now-dead man, rolling it out of his mouth. Blood smeared about his muzzle, and, after discerning that there were no other Hunters in the immediate area, Cassius returned to human form. The wolf shuddered, and with a great spasm, the face split open and peeled off like a wetly fleshy banana, peeling up and around under his K-9 vest. Then, a nude, shoe-less Cassius stood before them, wearing only his Beast skin splayed over his body and the vest. The half-alive face of the Beast stared at the trees as well.
"...I am Officer Lucidus. I came in response to the report of Hunters in the area. Are you hurt? Are there others nearby?"
He glanced down at the Hunter. Dead. He did not need to check.
Cassius wondered if the persons being hunted were injured, or needed medical attention.
He would have to talk to Alessio about limiting lethal force later, but he could not say it was not indicated in this situation. Both they, and civilians had been at risk from this madman.

Ash was frightened and uncertain, but he was at home in the branches of trees and his bare toes curled to grip the branches as he climbed along. He could feel the woman close behind him, her hand brushing his clothed back now and then. He jumped when the shotgun boomed, then pressed down flat to the branch, wrapping arms and legs about it as he felt his grip slip. He felt Zavijah's hand curl in a tight grip in his shirt, and after a few moments he reluctantly eased his grip and pushed himself up, beginning to move again.
The scent of blood was heavy on the air, and the second boom of a gun sounded muted after that first loud thundering. He paused on the branch and glanced down to see the dog-like predator change. It was entirely unlike his own shifting - more as if it shed it's skin than anything else. Watching made his own skin crawl.
The dog-creature-turned-man was speaking, glancing up at the trees, his gaze roving. The way his eyes moved... he didn't know where they were, not exactly. Ash understood only a few words of what he said.
"Si siofme jaci tuoric ekess renthisj mrith udoka," he murmured softly to the woman behind him, glancing back over his shoulder at her. He made a gesture down, indicating the dog-man, looking uncertain. He wasn't sure he wanted to go down there but... but maybe this one wanted to talk?
---
Alessio watched the hunter closely as he fell, felt him dying. His lips twitched slightly at the sensation, enjoying the taste of the other's life fleeing his body. The expression was brief, and smoothed quickly while Cassius shifted to a human form. While his partner saw to the potentially injured supers, he stepped back to tend his weapon. He made sure the safety was on once again, checked the remaining ammo, then held the gun braced against his elbow, muzzle pointed toward the ground.
He kept to the side, casting his senses out so that he might remain alert in the event that any other madman-hunters wandered the woods.

zavijah:
to her unknowing, she was struck in the back by the stray bullet from the hunter in his last act. . . at least for nao, she has yet noticed. her ears twitched at the churning of flesh, while she was not truly willing to watch the hunter skin one of the ones who had came to fight him. . . . only to hear a different voice? . . she glanced at Ash as he spoke to her before he pointed towards where the voice came from. . .then she finally glanced over towards the source to see a man in a hide? though it seemed to stare towards their direction. . .
should the police man notice, the gray irises of the swordsman would seem to glow faintly like moons from the darkness. . . she paused for a moment as she studied the man abit further. . . perhaps to trust him? . . " Officer Lucidus? . . . i am fine. . but there is another who is with me at the moment and was wounded. . . . . he was the one the hunters were after. . . ive done what i could to try and mend his wounds, but he can only benefit from those of more experienced eyes looking over his wounds. . . .he was struck with a shaftless arrow and stabbed with a knife. " she replied. she glanced over at the dragon before patting his back gently as if to reassure him. . .before gesturing him to follow.
she hesitated before finally and carefully heading down and off of the tree, carefully leading the dragonic towards the ground without falling hopefully. . .

Cassius lifted his bare, blood smeared arms, as if to offer to cushion his fall. He did not seem the least bit concerned about them being total strangers, or having the draconian man fall on him. His duty was to break the fall if needed. It was like offering up potential physical harm was a reflex to him.
Had it not been for his vest, he would have looked like an ageless barbarian warrior. As he was now, he looked like a man wearing a mismatched outfit, with a vest on his top half, and a strange beast skin underneath. His expression remained as tensely serious and determined as ever, one of his facial scars giving him a lopsided, ghoulish, grinning appearance.
"I have a potion that can help heal him, and yourself if needed. My companion has them in his briefcase."
They were normally meant to heal his own vulnerable body, but he often used them for others on his missions. Sometimes to his own detriment, if he managed to run out.
"What happened? Were there any others?"

Ash flinched slightly when the woman spoke more loudly, giving away their location. He wasn't sure what to make of the dog-man below, even if he had seemed to be helpful. But at her gesture, he moved to climb out along the branch to the trunk of the tree, then down.
At the moment he was, to all appearances, a young human man wearing a torn and bloodied tunic, loose flowing pants, and no shoes. His hair was long with a slight wave to it, unbound, and a bit messy after all the hiding and climbing. The only non-human thing about his appearance at the moment were his eyes, which were slit-pupiled, and his ears, which were slightly pointed. The charm had gone a fair way in healing the stab in his side and the bullet-wound in his shoulder - both had mostly stopped bleeding, at least, though he still stank of blood.
He fretted as he gained his feet, stepping back from the dog-man and looking up toward Zavijah. "Origato ve letoclo," he murmured, his voice very small, as he reached up to try to help her down. The blood-smell grew stronger as she came down the tree, and it abruptly dawned on him that it wasn't coming from him. His eyes widened and he gently turned the woman until he found the wound on her back.
"Wux re ouith!" he cried out, the distress clear in his voice even if the words themselves were gibberish.

zavijah:
she did her best to ensure Ash made it to the ground safely. . when Officer Lucidus asked what happened if there were others, she replied. " . . .i am not aware if there are others prior to them finding us. . .though i pray we were the only ones. . . .as to what occurred-" she stopped, glancing over to Ash as his quietly mumbled, she could only guess as to what he might of meant. . then again, she noticed he seemed to take a step away from Officer Lucidus. . .she quietly sighed, " its alright, he means well. . .and as old as this tree is, should a limb brea-" she started before just like clockwork, a piece of the bark snapped from under one of her feet gripping it with her toes. . . loosing her grip. she cursed at the occurrence and fell, grabbing at a stump of a limb before her hand slipped because her shoulder shrieked in pain, grabbed at another piece of bark before it snapped, then grabbed at a limb, only to have missed it by so much. . .
it wasnt until she grabbed another piece of bark with her feet and flopped against the tree upside down that she was able to catch herself from her fall. . .but by that point she was already there and within grabbing distance. she sighed at the close call of the rather ill timed fall. " . . . .perhaps actions spoke louder then words this time. " she finished the interrupted thought.
in view, the skull of the boar cloak she wore was shattered with a riffle shot that would be apparent to those familiar with gunshot type damage. . there were bullet holes in the skin of the cloak as well as cuts made. . .even one of the skinned legs of the boar was missing. . .
"as for what occurred- " she continued the previously started answer, either as she hopped down or was grabbed and set down on the ground, though she will remain adement they do not touch her wound. . . the back seemed to ever so slowly soak in blood, hot and heated but not enough to catch rather fresh flesh and fur on fire on the cloak. . . while the wound entrance would feel worse then a furnace. . .
"-we were hunting boar. . . he had asked for aid in trying to obtain some so i guided him towards a herd. . . he caught one, but as he fought it, the others moved to charge him, i went to act as a distraction so he could remain safe, and he though me endanger and flew us away. . . .it wasnt until he had cleared the tree tops that he was struck with a shaftless arrow. " she explained, she gestured to his chest then to the shattered skull of the boar cloak she wore. . .
" when he was able to land, a group of perhaps 7-9 humans emerged with strange metal and wooden contraptions. . . we fought and were able to drive them somewhat away when he was struck again, but with a knife to his side. . . the others scattered but the apparent leader was the one who gave chase. . .that was when you and your ally arrived. . . can you look over his wounds? . . .i know not if what ive done to mend his wounds will suffice enough to truly aid him from death's door. " she continued before asking the officer this.
she paused for a bit in thought. . . seeing he was perhaps a shifter of some kind- not one she was familiar with. . . ". . . .if you are able to follow by scent. . . and should you seek to follow them. . . i used a stench bomb apon them before they scattered. . . .they have been disarmed for the most part, but i know not if they still have more weapons on hand. " she added.
she was not sure why the draconic being suddenly burst out in a panic before she fell. . .perhaps he foresaw the bark breaking underneath her?

Cassius assessed all of them. He was professional, but his eyes gleamed with bestial intensity as he looked them over for anything needing immediate attention. His well-muscled body was controlled and exact, almost mechanical, but he seemed to lack the fear, or even the pause that most might exhibit with a scene like this. His expression was drawn and serious, a strange contrast to how alive and focused his eyes were.
He offered both of them one of his potions afterwards, gesturing towards Alessio to dispense them. These two needed medical attention, and possibly needed to be lifted out of here. Beyond that, the officers needed to hurry.
"Even if they are disarmed, they are likely still dangerous. We should make sure you have a safe escort to the WDSA for species-appropriate medical attention..."
Cassius' gaze did not drift away, but his mind did, if only a little bit. He fought the urge to put his skin back on and run, full bore, after those who had fled their presence.
If there were still perpetrators in the woods; they might 1) escape, 2) Need medical attention.

Ash flinched and reached for Zavijah when she began to fall, catching hold of her at about the same time that she caught hold of the tree. He held her carefully, and if she let him he would lower her to the ground. He kept hold of her once her feet were on the ground, however, whether she let him help her down or not - finding her wound and making distressed noises at her and at the dog-man about it.
The pale man frowned at him as he fussed, but he moved forward to offer Ash and Zavijah potions. Ash accepted one uncertainly, not wanting to let go of Zavi and not sure what they were for. He sniffed at the vial he had been given, then wrinkled his nose at the strong smell of it. For now he held onto it, not drinking it, as he wasn't sure what it was meant to do.
Perhaps he should take Zavijah home? Doktar Jeddy would know what to do about her injuries...

zavijah:
when she was let down, her ear twitched at the notice of hao the dragonic kept a grip on her. . . all the while loosing his calm. . . whining at her similar to an animal in duress. . . she pondered apon the officer's words abit further. . . " . . . if such is the case, then such will not be needed for me. . .or rather, i cannot leave. . . .there is an ally of mine who awaits my return with food. her hunting capabilities are no where near sharp enough to leave her be for too long yet and her ability to defend herself is abysmal. should i leave and they discover her, then i have abandoned her to her execution. " she replied.
when they were offered the bottles of healing potion, she bowed, thanking the both of them for it, before accepting it from him. she . . . .did not know if it will work on her. . .some poisons and medicines have different effect on her solely due to her body's heat. . .but perhaps she can keep it just incase, she glanced over to ash, seeing he was rather confused as to the purpose of the potions. . .
she had almost forgotten he did not understand them. . . she then pointed to the bottle then at ash, before making the gesture as if to drink, then at where his wound was on his chest, seeing it was healing well.
" . . .besides. . . . i doubt they would be foolish to raise arms against me in particular so soon after the last encounter. . . if they are more organized, i would assume they are currently working apon regrouping with eachother to attempt to rescue their leader seeing he would have stayed behind to continue their hunt." she continued. with her free hand, she moved to reach under her arm and feel for the shaftless arrow, before slowly working on getting it out. . . . . she's had a healing potion forced down her throat and her wounds healing over them. . . .twas not an amusing experience to be cut into again just to pull them out and healed again from such an event. .

Cassius stood there and spent a moment focusing on the two of them, trying to think of a response. What were their needs? They still needed to take a statement from them, and make sure they did not have any medical needs. He crossed his thick arms and replied;
"I'm going to call this in. Will you be willing to stay until medics can check you and your friend, and we can collect a statement about what had happened?"
He brought his radio up to his lips, but did not make the call just yet. It was their decision, and perhaps, he could leave Alessio here until back up came, while he hunted the fleeing perpetrators. He took a deep breath, and pushed away the Beast in the back of his mind.
Chase them down, catch them...
It urged, the tantilizing images of the men fleeing, hapless, sat at the back of his mind. It was tempting. He did want to chase them, down them... capture them. A fierce pride rose in his chest, but he pushed it down. They had to finish here first.

Zavijah wasn't paying attention to his fussing, and that only distressed Ash further. He reached for her again, his hand hovering over her wounded back, not touching. Heat radiated up from it - fever? The longer he held his hand there, the hotter it seemed to get, however, until he was forced to recoil with a soft hiss.
He stumbled a step back from her, offering up another frustrated hiss from his human lips. His own injuries saw that stumble turned into a stagger, and then he sat down heavily on the ground and plucked at his bloody shirt. The soft cloth was probably ruined and that... that was oddly more distressing than the pain. It was from home. He had so few things from home. A low keen rose in his throat, but he managed to cut it off before it grew much louder.
Zavijah was gesturing at him, at the bottle, miming drinking it. He grimaced slightly, then inclined his head in a nod. He sniffed the bottle one more time, wrinkling his nose at the strong scent, then with another uncertain glance at Zavijah, he tilted it back and downed it. He still wasn't entirely sure what it was for, but if she thought it would help...
"Wux vulsh coi," he mumbled and gestured at her, then pointed at the bottle she held. "Wux re throdenilt ouith," he continued with a bit more emphasis.
He glanced uncertainly toward the other two humans - the man who had been a canine and the other with his projectile weapon. His gaze lingered on the weapon a moment, then toward the mess that had been their assailant. He shuddered slightly then looked down at his hands, uncertainly toying with the empty bottle. Was it supposed to have done something? His throat felt warm where it had passed, but aside from that he felt no different.
---
Alessio eyed Cassius, watching the other man's face as he called in to report. His own expression was cool, neutral, but Cassius... they had been together long enough that he could see the other's desire to hunt. A flicker of annoyance touched Alessio's features, as he knew Cassius wouldn't give in to that desire.
"Cassius. Go. I'll remain here until the medical team arrives."

zavijah:
"I. . .will stay as long as I am able. . ." she replied. there was that term again, 'medics' . . . . as many as there were that swarmed Sara, Bruse, and herself, she was not looking forward so so many people surrounding them again. . . .at least not her. . .that night caused her to panic. . .granted she was fairly beaten up from the leshy's prison beating her around, and being kicked by the giant bird form of Sara's. . . she cant say she is as injured now as she was prior. . . however, that night was a constant spiral of fighting against another event. . the countless faces, voices, so vividly carved into her brain. she knew non of them were present, but she still needed to fight them off. . .
she cannot afford to loose grip nor control of herself while she was outside of her home. . . where non knew her, nor could help her. if anything, she feared they will die trying to deal with her if she became lost in a vision, in the event. . .when she is blinded and deafened by her past.
she continued to quietly work her fingers into the wound before finding the shaftless arrow. . .to which she worked her fingers around it- somewhat clawing into herself with her nails before she plucked the accursed thing out; dropping it onto the ground. it felt like it was beginning to become similar to clay or dough. . . not good. . . she used her heel to shove it into the ground more. . . somewhat burying it with her foot. . . before she jolted from the reaction of the dragonic being. "ash, what-" she started to ask before noticing the typical signs of 'that burnt, i felt a hot thing' that ash was doing in reaction to him hovering his hand over her wound. . . she sunk abit at the thought that he might of burnt himself . . .on her injury. .
she cursed at herself, glancing over at ash. . . gesturing at her, then the bottle. . . . she was lost as to what he said. . .but perhaps he wanted her to drink from it. . . she sighed, opening it before taking a small drink from it. . . closing the lid up when she parted it from her lips. . .
"its alright. . .see? " oh fluck. . . this was a mixture for healing those the same temperature as humans. . . . . it was similar enough for her to recognize this as well as to recognize that drinking from it was perhaps not a good idea for her.
Most healing remedies had a adverse effect on her or no effect in part from her unstable body. . .her insides were too hot. in part for why she did not drink a large amount from it. . . already she felt her body trying to reject it. . . however it was subtle. . .
she was perhaps the worse to follow example of with these things. . . .it might heal one person just fine, but have an adverse effect on her. . . cause her to regurgitate bile and fire, or cough blood up, placing false alarm in the other that they might of ingested poison. . . .sometimes they even mimic her ailments. . all she can do is fake it until she can leave and nullify its effects. she had plenty of nullifiers and neutralizers, she just needs to skim through her memory to try and conjure up which might nullify this medical drink the best with the least amount of side effects.
she has to willingly allow the curse to do its work inside of her tto further the charade. . . and deal with trying to regain control of its rate again later. . . as fun as resisting the urge to cough or regurgitate after doing so for so long. . . uuugh.
with her bloodied hand, she reached into her butt purse and grabbed for her knife. . . unsheathing it just alittle before activating the formula lines carved into it. . .cutting into her finger just abit as to allow it to work . . . .she could of sworn she had done this already, but it wouldnt hurt for her to insure that she did this. . . as the knife worked, her wounds would seem to lose alot of heat. . . from almost bellowing fire from the shear heat of her insides to becoming hardly noticeable. . . before she sheathed her knife in her butt purse and removed her hand from it. . .now there was no worry of her suddenly catching on fire from whatever digging the shaftless arrow out has done.
in result of doing this, she looked abit more paler. . .abit sicker then prior, but otherwise acted fine and normal. well, her body is going to have a field day from the abuse of today. .

Cassius nodded. A release. He could not let them escape, and he knew if he waited here too long, they would. He focused himself, forcing down his excitement. He'd need to speak and be comprehensible, and that would not happen if he could not focus on the present.
He pressed the button and made the call. A crackle of the scanner.
"Hello, this is Officer Ludicus, I am calling in a 10-53, 11-41, at least two people injured, many suspects at large. I request at least two ambulances, and three men for back up. Repeat, 10-53, 11-41, there are multiple suspects at large and multiple injured victims who require immediate assistance. Please come to coordinates as follows... "
He detailed the geographic location, the turn off road and their current placement, then waited for confirmation. It came in short order, along with confirmation there would be ambulance back up and reinforcements coming. Seldom a dull day here.
Then, finally, he was free. Alessio could interview them. He...could hunt. He felt the fierce pull of his hunting instinct rising in his chest. The Beast was telling him where to go, and he had to follow. There was no need to hold it back.
Cassius pulled the beast skin back over his head. It slipped over him and conformed to his body as if it had always been there, moving of its own accord. It was fast, but the unnatural changes were obvious to any who witnessed it. His body contorted, making soft popping and cracking sounds as he dropped to all fours. The canine's legs had an unnatural, twisted appearance that made him appear more threatening than he should have been, the body scarred deeply, mouth contorted in an unnatural smile on one side.
Then, he stood on all fours as a huge, monstrous black wolf wearing a bullet-proof vest. He stared deeply into Alessio's eyes with his own, as if in confirmation, before sprinting in pursuit, nose low to the ground. Searching and hunting. Looking for the fleeing attackers. Perhaps they were part of a larger ring. If they had a living witness they would be able to interview them. It could not be so difficult. They had left blood trails,DNA evidence, and he could trust to find at least some quickly. Then, through those, find them all and capture them. So simple, but he could not fail at his task.
