“Um, I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” Hau looked pointedly at the salt shaker the young woman was reaching for. “Salt doesn’t go particularly well with dessert.” She was so odd. Hau wondered where she had come from that she didn’t seem familiar with many of the foods here. “I can get you some powdered sugar if you want. How’s your coffee? Do you like it?”
Scanning the table, looking for anything else they might need, Hau’s eyes fell on the newspaper again. “Scary what’s going on out there. Do you think they’ll catch who’s killing all those people?” There were so many wild theories circulating around the café about this serial killer that Hau had lost track of them all. Teenagers spinning scary stories really weren’t worth paying attention to though, and they were the majority of the clientele here. At one point, Hau had gotten so desperate for real facts that he’d gone to investigate one of the murder sites, but by the time he’d arrived the police had cleaned up anything worth finding.
There was a flutter at the back of his mind, distracting him. The fox in him was keying in on something. Something off. The scent of the café was always overwhelmingly warm and sweet, but there was an undertone to it now. It was sharp, out of place. Was it blood? It must have been the smell of the boy’s wound from table two. If he changed into fox form he’d be able to pin it down, but that was absolutely out of the question here.

The moment Stenson saw Zavijah reach for the salt, he froze. Should he stop her? Or let her learn? He'd already seen how curious she could be with food, not to mention adventurous. When he'd finally decided to at least recommend against it, Hau had returned and was already taking the words from his mouth.
"Um, I wouldn't do that if I were you." The young man said, explaining salt and dessert.
His face held a look of perplexed confusion, as if even having to explain this to a customer was odd. Stenson could imagine it probably was, most people didn't think to experiment putting salt on a dessert. Instead, Hau asked about her coffee and offered powdered sugar. A good segway solution, if he did say so himself.
"Scary what's going on out there. Do you think they'll catch who's killing all those people?"
Stenson looked up from his coffee, seeing Hau had glanced at the newspaper. He considered his answer, since the 'they' in the question was basically himself. The police. He chose to keep that detail to himself for now, and gave a reassuring smile.
"Oh, believe me, I'm sure whoever is committing those crimes will be brought in soon. One thing about stuff like this, if they're careless enough to leave all that mess, they're careless enough to give themselves away. It wouldn't take much. A hair, a drop of blood, one misplaced fingerprint, they'll find something. Probably already have." Stenson of course didn't know entirely for sure, that was a job for CSI. But he was confident that if they did find the people involved, the police were sure to be brought in. Depending on whether they were dangerous, or supers, he himself might be deployed.

zavijah:
she stopped, glancing over at Hau as he gave a warning. . .was there a bad reaction to occur? though there was no need to ask when he went on to explain why it was a bad idea, before offering 'powdered sugar'. . powdered? does that mean sugar comes in pebbles and stone? she was also confused but deathly curious as well. . . so she pulled her hand away gently " . . .yes please. . i would like to try some 'powdered sugar' . the coffee is very good, bitter but very good. " she replied.
"Scary what's going on out there. Do you think they'll catch who's killing all those people?" the young man seemed to mention as he glanced at a paper. . she glanced over at the paper, herself. . . . . still unable to read its contents. . . there was strange symbols she was not familiar with such as !!!!!! or !?!?! did such mean extreme calamities had occurred within the city state? when Stenson answered Hau's question, he seemed very sure of such. . .she could only wish she was able to actually save people. . . . sure, she has been able to prevent further death on countless occasions . . but. .
she has never been able to save another. . . not in her eyes. . . death only seems too fond of looming ever so closely. . . at least in the hands of others, they would be able to save them. . .this was when the aluminum cap of the salt shaker suddenly 'popped' off in a sort of launch before bouncing and landing near the now cracked glass of the salt shaker. . . snapping her out of the darkened train of thought. . .
first the cup. . then the 'salt' . . . she narrowed her eyes before she set her cherry turnover down on her plate. . " Im afraid I might need use of you. . . . 'bathroom' . may I go towards it?" she asked. . she leaned abit too much forward when she had set her food down. .this caused the leg of the chair her right leg hung too close to to give way. . .she moved her arms back abit too quickly in reaction to the forward fall. . causing the chair to rock back and fall. .
she quickly moved where her arms protected her head when she folded them over her head so she would land on her forearms. . before her weight continued to roll her over her knees and onto her right leg, the blood causing her to slide abit before she finally landed on her butt. the once more innocent dripping of blood down the front of her right pantleg suddenly began to blossomed throughout the front and side of her leg where she landed. her left leg was asleep from her sitting apon it while her right leg ached from the sudden landing. . .
Then there was the blood. . .the smear of blood under her leg was crackling and causing the varnish to smoke from the sudden heat while the area where the now molten leg of the chair hissed loudly. loud cracking and popping occurred when the molten metal touched the floor. . . smaller dots of metal flew in a splash like manner. .
her hands held onto her cloak to keep her ears hidden but this revealed the bandaging of her arms. . from the landing, parts of the bandaging shifted where it was revealed that skin was missing, all the while blood soaked the wrapping, itself. . .
she had the sudden attention of quite a good number of people within the cafe. . . especially the three whom had just entered the cafe. .
"oh my God, is that blood?!"
"whats going on?"
"what was that noise?"
"why is it smoking?"
these were only some of the many reactions of the patrons of the cafe. . .
unknowing to zavijah it might not be long before the fire alarms to start should they do so. . she glanced around herself, realizing the sudden situation that she was now in. . before she slowly moved her arms to where the cloak hid them. . . too many eyes. . .too many. . "aah . . forgive me. . . please disregard me. " she tried.
apart of her was expecting the death brigade to march in . . . she wanted to run. . she did not want to be captured, they know what she is. . . one leg was asleep while the other was in too much pain for her to use at the moment from the landing. she was saddened she was not able to at least finish the cherry turn over. . or try 'powdered sugar' . . . or try the eclair. . . or even finish her cup of coffee in her accidentally broken cup. .
"oh my God!" the woman from the group of three yelped. . she started to hold her hand over her mouth before running towards the bathroom. . seeming as though she was about to vomit. .
should one look at the cherry turnover she was holding, there were clear burn marks where her hand and fingers were holding it. . . the inside was possibly similar to the hand print of black charred saddness. . . .

Hau jumped when the salt shaker’s lid snapped off. He wanted to continue probing the issue, to see what they might know, but the salt shaker had seemingly cracked for no reason. “I’m sorry about that.” He fumbled. “Someone must have dropped it earlier. Let me get that out of your way.” From an empty table behind him he grabbed a discarded plate, using that to gather all the pieces just in case it decided to shatter altogether before he could get it to the trash. His eye caught on the coffee cup. Was that broken too?
"I’m afraid I might need use of you… 'bathroom' . may I go towards it?" Hau nodded over his shoulder towards a small hallway in the rear of the store. “They’re around the corner-“ The chair was already tipping by the time his head came back around and he could only watch as the young lady tumbled backward out of it. It was so abrupt, so unexpected, Hau wondered if she might have been pushed while he was turned away. But then he registered the blood. All of it, seemingly everywhere all of the sudden. She must have been cut by the chair when she went down. He couldn't think of any other reason.
Without much more thought than that, Hau dropped the plate and grabbed for the hand towel in his apron. He kept one on him for spills far more mundane than this, but this was all he had at the moment to help and it was clean. Actively trying to recall whatever first aid he’d learned, he pressed it against the young woman’s leg where the bleeding seemed the worst. Then he glanced frantically to her companion. “Might want to call an ambulance.”
Hau hadn’t even heard it over the sudden commotion from everyone else in the café, but he definitely saw the smoke now. Why was the floor sizzling like that?

When the top of the salt shaker popped from its glass base, Stenson didnt flinch but he did give it a peculiar look. That was odd, he'd never seen a salt shaker do that before.
"I'm afraid I might need use of your...bathroom. May I go towards it?" Zavijah asked, to which Stenson turned his peculiar look on her. Suddenly, things seemed off somehow. He couldn't put his finger on it at that moment, but Zavijah's hastened demeanor and the odd salt shaker...
Stenson was about to thank Hau as he quickly gathered up the salt shaker and pointed out the bathroom when suddenly the leg of Zavijah's chair gave out from her move to get up to send her toppling to the floor. Stenson was on his feet in seconds, moving around the table with a look of concern.
"Zavijah, oh my-...Are you ok??...." Worried words flew from him in his hassle to help his friend. Hau was closer and had already dropped down to help. Stenson kneeled beside him, his eyes growing wide at the sight of blood. Then, smoke? And more than he'd expected from a simple fall.
Then it clicked.
"Hau, watch it!" Stenson blurted, grabbing Hau's wrist and pulling it away from the bloodied towel. Just as he'd expected, the towel reached its ignition point and burst into flames on top of Zavijah's leg. Stenson grabbed the towel next, beating it against the floor to kill the flames. When that was done, he looked back to Zavijah's injury and felt his breath catch in his chest as he saw skinless flesh. Around them people were already beginning to panic at the commotion and sight of blood. One woman already ran to the bathroom as if to be sick.
"Ambulance won't be fast enough." Stenson said, the worry evaporating from his tone as the officer in him took over. Without wasting any more time, Stenson wrapped the tiger hide as best he could around Zavijah before sliding both arms under her. A thin layer of granite began to form over the areas where her blood might soak through, just as a precaution. Her weight was lifted with ease, and if she struggled or argued, he ignored her with stern silence. Back on his feet, Stenson then made a b-line for the door, headed to his cruiser parked in the front lot. It's back cab would be more than sufficient to withstand any heat damage from her blood thanks to its heavily charmed defenses.

zavijah: She was panicking alittle too much to answer her ally at the moment. . she wanted to say -I'll live- or something along the lines of being fine, however she has been exposed. too many eyes. . . she needs to cancel her fire out and flee, she has already canceled it out once this day. . a second canceling would hinder her as ill as the action makes her. . . She needs to move but she cant stand up at the moment. damnable legs, stand! She flinched when Hau crouched down to aid her. . .her arms went up prepared -yet again revealing the horrid state of them- but seeing the young man place the towel on her, and the biting pressure placed against her leg, she panicked. . "wait, don't, run-" she started to say, she tried to push the young man away with her left foot, her only limb that still had skin on it, while Stenson pulled him away from her. . . however doing so revealed some rope that was still tied fast around her ankle. . .the ends appearing as though they were burnt off in a flash fire. placing her hand down to stabilize herself was a horrible idea. . .because as soon as her hand touched the varnished wood, it hissed loudly as if it was a strip of bacon tossed onto a highly heated pan. . . this caused her to pull her hand away since the smoke from touching the floor this time came quicker. . . "oh God, shes a monster!" one of the patrons yelped. this made the two men of the group of three pleased at the revelation to the unfamiliar. . . with what sort of true horrific and disastrous monsters halfbloods of the moon bonding can truly be. . .thieves of their father, with the bodies of their mothers. . . unstable, volatile thieves of a power stolen from their fathers. their very existence was a threat to the human race. . . if not more races then just their own. . "is she going to kill us all?" "Oh my God, what if its killing her?!" zavijah backed away when the towel combusted into a violent fireball. . . flinching when Stenson grabbed it and started to beat the hell out of the ground with it. . .she glanced at her ally. . while he seemed to stare at something on her. . she felt ashamed. . . .glancing at the bellowing smoke and the rather toasted towel. . . she did not want to kill these people with her inability to control her fire. . ." I apologize i- O-Oi!?" she started before Stenson quickly threw the edges oh her cloak around her and picked her up. she panicked and flailed when he did this, partly from not preferring to be lifted up and partly from the sudden movement. "Wait. Stenson, you will get burnt, I dont want you to be burned by this!" she yelped. "wait, what about the food?" she asked. saddened they did not pay and she didn't get the chance to finish her food, it was going to go to waste! picking her up would be equivalent to picking up a 100Lb bag of rice or flour. . or picking up a child. or even a small large sized dog. she stopped flailing seeing he was running towards the cars. . .in particularly- his car. . . where was he taking her? she was trying to force herself to calm down and think. . . panic would not aid her, but why would he do this? did she do something wrong or was it her injuries? wait, are cars fireproof?! she glanced between the car and Stenson. . she needs to get her knife and cancel her fire. . .but he practically pinned her arms. . . . now that she was actually thinking, she did remember telling him if she was injured and cant move he was welcome to take her to 'HQ'. well, not like she can run away. . if she does shes more likely to hurt more people. . . .this day was hardly in its prime and already she has done nothing but ill. . ----------------------- when the woman stepped out quietly as people rushed to throw water on the still smoking parts of wood and the fire alarm started to go off, she was on the phone. . . her demeanor was focused, driven. however she frowned seeing the gray one run off with the lamb. "sir, quzu bir dəri ilə cilalanmışdı. (sir, the lamb has been taken by one with gray skin.)" she reported while people were beginning to beat the fire or surround the area this had just happened. she walked over towards the other two acting as though she was still queasy. "did you talk to your uncle?" the older looking man asked. "yes. . . he is very aware of the situation. " she replied. "what did he say for us to do?" the younger looking man asked. "pay attention to the tracker on our phones. . . .the lamb had gotten loose. . . but if it stops to rest, we can send Gareth in since hes much more stronger and capable. " she replied. "if we follow too closely, we will scare it away. " the younger one clicked his tongue in a bitter mixture of frustration and anger. they could of easily have gotten her had she went into the restroom. . . she unlike the others was plenty small enough to fix in an ox bag purse. or even a suitcase. "do you think we might be able to rope someone in to help us retrieve our lamb back? " he asked. "maybe. . . . though it highly depends. . . " the older looking man replied. "in the meantime, should we single to the others to find the last one? " the young woman asked. "maybe. . . but we will need to set up a place to pen it up. . . he is not going to be pleased with a lamb being inside of the house. . . "

The young woman’s flailing foot smacked him in the face, just narrowly missing smashing into his nose. This wasn’t exactly the reaction he’d been expecting in this situation. With his view obscured, he completely forgot for a moment about the smoking mess around him and didn’t see the gray-skinned man grab his hands away from her leg. He reeled back in time to see the hand towel go up in flames, however, and scrambled back away from it in surprise. So her blood was doing this? Is that right? Shocked, his thoughts caught up in a tangle of reactions, he just watched as she was scooped up by her companion and hurried out the door.
With the pair of them gone, Hau suddenly found focus on the rest of the room. The fire alarm had started to blare, adding to the chaotic outcry of the café customers. He jumped to his feet, briefly glad that he hadn’t gotten any of her blood on his hands or knees while he’d been on the floor, and began to usher whoever was still in the store out the door. He glanced back over his shoulder as he exited to make sure that the other employees had left as well. The back door hung open at the rear of the store so he assumed they had fled.
A fire truck rolled up out front, and the police appeared shortly after that. Several patrons pointed him out as the person to talk to since he’d been at the epicenter of this mess and for the next hour he was grilled by the cops about what he’d seen and heard. Every detail, who, how, when. They asked if it was a chemical attack. Or an arson. Was it perpetrated by a regular person? Or one of those supers? Was it him?
After they took his information and told him he was free to go, Hau was turning to head home when ran into someone else. The café owner was here. This interrogation went much like the last had with many of the same questions and answers. By the time they were done, it was late. The café owner told him to head home and they’d call when he was to report back for work. There was a lot of damage that would need repaired, especially now that the place had been thoroughly hosed down by the fire department. So the café would be closed for at least a week. Frankly, Hau had his doubts they would call him back at all after all this.
So he was out of work for the moment. And low on money. Hau decided to skip the bus and save what little he had by walking home tonight. It would give him time to process what all had just happened.

Stenson ignored anyone who spoke out at them, whether accusing or questioning, when he went for the exit. Although Zavijah's exclamation of "What about the food?" came as a surprise. Surely with the state she was in, she wasn't worried about something as simple as the food? Maybe she worried about the expenses, but he'd already prepaid for everything beforehand, and anything extra was put on a tab he'd set up with the cafe. Was she that oblivious to her own state of health? He hadn't even KNOWN of her injuries until she fell....how long had she been that way until now?!?
Stenson hurried to the charger and opened the back door awkwardly with an elbow. Once it was open, his hastened behavior slowed if only to ease her in gently so as not to hurt her. The moment she touched the seat, if any blood escaped her cloak, a shimmer would appear over the durable surfaces. A sign that the charms were working as they should. There would be no smoke, no sizzling fabric or fiber or metal, as if Zavijah's blood were suddenly as normal as a human's. Once she was inside and reclined on the backseat, he would close the door to secure her inside (she'd been known to flee on multiple occasions, after all) and then climbed into the driver's side front seat.
The Charger roared to life at the turn of the key, its engine thrumming loudly as Stenson threw it into immediate reverse, backed from the parking spot and then pushed it into drive moments later. It lurched, tires spinning momentarily over asphalt before they finally found purchase and pushed the car forward and out onto open road. Even as he did this, he had a radio out and was already calling out for HQ, giving them the location, situation, and requested back-up.
"Requesting fire and rescue patrol, police presence recommended to assist with evacuation. I have an injured Super in custody, bringing them immediately to Medical for attention, please have personnel ready to receive. Over."
An answer buzzed through the radio at him, confirming his requests and ETA. The drive was quick, now with full lights and siren to urge traffic from his path. In under 15 minutes, HQ appeared from between neighboring buildings and skyscrapers in the main city. Moments later still, he was parked in the cool dark garage as medical staff rushed towards his vehicle with a stretcher complete with fireproof sheets and frame. To ease the stress of her already insane situation, Stenson was sure to stay beside Zavijah through the entire situation, if only to give her something or someone familiar close at hand. His mind often wandered back to the cafe, Hau and the employees, and he wondered if they had taken care of themselves. Hau especially, after a kick to the face and nearly burning his hand. He would make a point to catch up with the young man in time, if only to give him one Hell of a tip....

[ hospital bit > docs.google.com/document/d/1pZAiw2_d30cVKPhFZwQrL-ccwPQJ6DjrGuY7C15ibko/edit?usp=sharing ] zavijah: after she had dressed and they left the hospital for the venture towards one of the crime scene sites. . . she quietly thought on the conditions. . . stay by Stenson. . .don't do anything stupid- whatever that means, perhaps recapture or death- and that she might be disappointed to see nothing there. . . she merely nodded to the conditions "alright. I swear oath to abide by these conditions. . . " though she had no intentions of looking at the surface. . . there was always a hidden layer somewhere. . . she did not quite understand why her own well being would be of importance. . . she was a tool, a weapon. . . . . she has most of the time either have been blamed, feared, resented, or its assumed she had chosen her path under her own free will. . . . . since when did her free will, or her words mean anything? though she will at least admit to being injured if there was blood being produced out. . . nothing can be done if she was just 'in pain'. just focus and meditate to ignore it. but she needed to confirm that this was not that. . . if they can confirm this is not what she fears it might be, then they are not to fear what might follow should this group succeed or become sated in their bloodshed. . . . . ------------------------------------- during the walk home in the eve of the day, Hau might notice a shadow that seemed to trail him. . . . before he might hear an 'oh, hey!' from behind. it was the girl who was with the group of three. " you were the nice waiter who was serving that one table that all the commotion happened at, are you ok?" she asked. "didn't seem all that fair that the police were giving you the 3rd degree about this crazy situation. . . "

“Oh, hey!”
Hau froze mid step, glancing all around him for the source of the call. Then he spotted the young lady hurrying up behind him. It took a moment, but he recognized her as one of the customers from the café, one of that group of three. He hadn’t even made it back to the table with their food. Certainly they weren’t upset enough about that to chase him down?
“You were the nice waiter who was serving that one table that all the commotion happened at, are you ok?”
He blinked, surprised. “I’m… fine.” Hau peered over her shoulder, fully expecting to see the rest of her family. “Where’s the rest of your group? They didn’t get hurt, did they?”
“Didn't seem all that fair that the police were giving you the 3rd degree about this crazy situation…”
To this he shrugged in response. “They were just doing their jobs.” Be it a little overzealously, but maybe that was the stress of the day talking. As far as shitty days went, this one landed very solidly in Hau’s top three. And who knew how the other customers had fared. He’d been so occupied giving his statement to the police he hadn’t had a chance to really take stock of them. “Look, if you’re worried about anything that happened at the café, I can give the owner’s phone number. If there are medical bills to pay, I’m sure you can work something out.”
Hau still felt like he needed to play the waiter and make sure she was happy. But it was getting late and he was tired and hungry. He really wanted nothing more than to head back to his room, raid the mini-fridge, and crawl into bed.

Stenson made a point of stopping by Jay's desk before departing. After filling the other officer in on the details, Jay nodded and welcomed the chance to be on standby in case anything happened.
"I don't foresee it, it's been a few weeks since anything's happened at the site we're going to, but just in case."
"Aye, no problem mate. Ah'll be right behind ye!" Jay said happily.
Then, once Stenson was suited up in his usual equipment, they were in the car and on their way. The nearest and oldest site was actually not too far from the Cafe they'd been to. According to records, it was a little ways into the woods, but not far from a hiking trail that led around the base of the mountain and then branched into more 'challenging' paths. Stenson parked in the lot near the start of the trail and opened the door for Zavijah once they arrived. Jay pulled up near them, his own cruiser quiet and dark.
"Ah'll wait here for ye. Case anythin' happens, just send up a flare."
A few other officers pulled up as well not long after, totally 4 officers altogether. If they needed back-up, it wouldn't be far.
The woods were otherwise relatively dark and uneventful, and above the nearly full moon kept the shadows at bay.

zavijah:
she prepared for a potential battle. . . not being at her 'best' she will need to rely on talismans more then normal. . .she did not want Stenson or the others to bare what burdens might be brought should they be faced with such. . when Stenson opened the door. . she was hesitant to step out before she finally spoke up once Officer Jay was done . .
"Stenson. . . I fear I must ask of you one more request. . . can you carry me to the site? . . .If this is more then mere Skinnings. there is a chance that I might activate a calling apon those connected to it should I tread apon the ground directly. . . .and I wish not to place you or the others in any further danger then I might of in making the request to be taken here. " she explained. it certainly would fall in line with his many conditions of 'one condition'. . .though should the time come and they need to fight, . . . she can only hope for the best. . .prepare for the worst. . .
---------------------------
"who? my uncle and cousin? they went home, this way just happens to be where my house is . . " she replied. "I didn't have a complaint nor did any of us get hurt. . . .I just wanted to see if you were ok. I just happened to have notice you alittle ahead of me on the way home and my uncle mentioned you were yanked around and kicked in the face by the two at the table. . . as well as nearly burnt by them. " she added.
"I'm sorry if its abit weird. . . just. . hearing that then seeing the police interrogate you afterwards. " she sighed. " my name is Abby. . Abby Bwonfell" she introduced . . the woman quietly wondered if the blue haired man was the same one from the apartment complex she was living at. . . just a few doors down. . . that would be pretty weird. . . and convenient if he really is the next lamb to collect. .

“You don’t have to worry about me.” Hau chuckled uneasily. “I didn’t get hurt at all.” But he could see how she might have thought so, there were many points back there where things could have gone very differently. Still, he just wanted to put the whole day behind him already. But it didn’t look like she would let him quite yet as she introduced herself. He bit back on a resigned sigh and plastered on a smile instead.
“Nice to meet you, Abby. I’m Hau.” He figured he’d throw his name out there again just in case she hadn’t seen his nametag back at the café. It still struck him as a little strange that she would be out here all alone this late. Surely, her family all would have gone home together after that disaster. But maybe she had stuck behind to watch, there were still plenty of onlookers there when Hau left, standing behind police barricades and taking pictures.
As much as it pained him to detour even a little bit, it wouldn’t be gentlemanly of him to let her walk home alone. His moms had raised him better than that. Hau motioned in the direction of his motel and, he assumed, in the direction of her house as well. “We should get going.” It was dark enough now that all the light they had to walk by was provided by streetlamps and moonlight. “Otherwise, we won’t make it home before midnight. I bet your family will be worried.”

"Stenson. . . I fear I must ask of you one more request. . ."
Stenson paused as they headed up the trail and turned with a questioning look.
"Can you carry me to the site? . . .If this is more then mere Skinnings. there is a chance that I might activate a calling apon those connected to it should I tread apon the ground directly. . . .and I wish not to place you or the others in any further danger then I might of in making the request to be taken here. "
Zavijah's words only made half-sense to Stenson, but he listened all the same. Midway through her explanation, he even made a grab for his notepad, which he kept handy in a breast pocket and jotted down Zavijah's mention of activating some sort of alert system. Perhaps the occult division could make use of that tidbit of information later.
With the notepad returned, Stenson nodded. "Sure, if it'll make you feel better." He waited until she was ready before kneeling down for her to climb onto his back. Once she was settled, he stood back up and trudged on, although he was not at all bothered by the extra weight.
Around them, the night was alive with chirping bugs, distant frogs, and other wildlife. The air was warm, almost humid, and any normal human would already be fighting the droves of mosquitos that flourished here. Stenson, thankfully, had never been bothered by them. Although the warm air brought moisture to the exposed skin of his forearms and face.
Eventually, he began to recognize landmarks based off the photographs he'd seen of this particular site. They would arrive very soon, if his guess was right. "Almost there, I think." He said with a huff. Besides being 'at work', he found he still enjoyed the feeling of a good hike.

zavijah:
she frowned abit before nodding. . . she wasn't one to ask for aid so easily. but nether the less, she was already rather far into the situation as they were . . no need to exclude them now. though she did not want to demand for their ear to heed apon the false path to resolving this. she did not want to jump into conclusions. . . .as they walked-well. . .he walked, every so often she noted a strange line in the earth. . . it dimly glowed though as vibrant of variety and life this realm was, these could be completely different. . .
she took note of the many auras around them. . . the small insects. . .there was even a rabbit that started to follow at the feet of the officer' to her dismay. . . damn animals, why cant they leave her alone? mosquitoes would occasionally buzz by but then avoid her. . . .she smelt like volcanic ash and they dont like things that smell like potentially fire.
though when Stenson mentioned they were almost at the site, she glanced forward. her ears lowered at the huff of it. . .was she really that heavy? she hoped she wasn't that much of a burden to him. . .
Though when she saw a focal point of aura, she tensed at the site. . . . . granted, physical evidence of such seemed to have been wiped clean, the dirt overturned and the blood removed. . . but the focal point was still present. . . she dug into her butt purse and rummaged around for some talismans. . . a turtle talisman to protect Stenson while she peered into the past -she will be useless to him for a while after she was done, the least she could do was insure he would have some level of protection should the need arise. . . not that he was incapable. just hoped that the talisman would offset the overall distraction this venture might prove to be- . . . a lens with a formula cared into the rim of it . . . an talisman carved to appear as a fish as well as a talisman that looked to be similar to a pigeon. . the fish and pigeon talismans were to stabilize and give her abit more control while the lens was to glance back in time. . .
although all three talismans she would use on herself would 'die' after use. . . she would be no use to them should she fall unconscious from a rebound, though nothing can be done about the 'daze' state she would be in. The lens would only be able to glance back in the last 3 months at furthest . . . more stable this way. . . at least from what she was capable of doing. . . peering back any further would be damn near impossible on a Jade catalyst . . . if not suicidal, especially on one as translucent as this lens. . she will only aim for one month back . . two at most. . . but no more then two. . and no less then one month's time . . .
she activated the turtle talisman and tied it to his uniform. "this will protect you in the case there is one who intends to harm you from afar. " she quietly stated. when they reached the site, she sighed. . . time to see what the lens would reveal. . . she tied the small rope of leather with the fish and pigeon talismans attached to her wrist tightly. the body of the fish talisman orientated to where it seemed to swim away and towards her hand. . .while the pigeon talisman seemed to overlook towards her palm in how it was positioned. . . " Stenson. . . I will need to remain here for a short time. Though I will need you to not move for a while. . . . I am going to attempt to peer into the past as far back as two moon cycles' time. . . I need to bare witness to what was carved here. " she quietly explained. " I will owe you a great deal of explanation . . . as well as what answers I come across. . ."
with the dirt overturn to perhaps physically erase the evidence and whatever was placed here removed, she will need to rely on the three talismans in hand. . . she first carefully touched the lens, feeling for the carvings on the side. . . when she found the indicator for a star, the edge it was slightly closer to, she flipped towards to face upwards as well as to point the star away from herself. . . as if to orientate the star to face the sky, like a mirror.
A shame. . .she had intended to use these for an entirely different matter. . . it will take her months if not years to make another lens. . . . .
she adjusted herself to where she pretty much straddled Stenson's back like a tree and pulled her ink and brush out, before drawing out the formula on her hand where the talisman was on- her right seeing she was left handed and needs her left to write down this part of the formula- before placing the brush and ink away into her butt purse. . . now she needed to focus her aura into the three talismans . . . .
---------------------------------------------------------------
"its certainly nice to meet you, Hau. " she replied with a small pleasant smile. though at the gesture of him aiming to walk her back to her apartment, she was a little taken aback. " oh, wow. . . . its almost a rarity for someone to walk a girl home." Chivalry was sadly a dying trade. but never the less she was happy and accepted this. " Thank you for walking me home. . . It's certainly very nice of you to go out of your way to do this for a stranger like me. . . " she stated as they walked. "I guess they would be pretty worried now that I think about it. . " she continued.
Makes her sad that this guy might be the next target. . . she would honestly hate to see someone like this go. . . . though, halfbloods were a blight to the world. . .regardless of how chivalrous they might be. for all she knows, this was nothing more then a ruse to turn and hurt her first. . . . she wants to be useful for the eventual attack. . . so she as well as the others need to finish it. . .
though the lights slowly came on. . . it wasn't quite midnight yet, though it might very well come to being that late if they walk too slow, so at least. . . she kept up a reasonable pace.
Damn, if only he wasn't a halfblood if he was one, she might of asked him out on a date too. . . life sucks sometimes.
the night was relatively quiet, traffic was almost non existent. the crickets and other nightly insects were pretty loud where they were, only quieting down when they were too close, then going back to bellowing at others to defend territory or attract mates in the ways of cricket cat calling. " What about your family? I wouldn't want to get you in trouble or have them worry about you if your running late walking me home. Would you like to use our house phone to call them just in case? so they know your OK and on your way home?" she asked.
"Alternatively, you can stay at my place if it gets too late. . . . I don't want anyone or anything to hurt you because of how late it is, and how dangerous it can be at night. " she added. " you can still call them to let them know. either way. "
