Jedidiah:
on a day that was rather bright and sunny, he was walking/ or hiking as some might refer to it in the wilderness to attempt to try and familiarize himself with the area surrounding his home and the clinic. he quietly listened to the birds in the trees and next to his head as he walked- the noisy little things, and the rabbits, mice and other various small creatures scurry along the ground. . . . . for the most part, he was beginning to wonder if the direction he wandered into was growing denser with tree growth and foliage, or if perhaps that was merely an illusion from just looking at many trees spread out through the area he was at. . .
one such tree he came across had an rather impressive base at it. . .which made him curious.
would this tree support my weight?
after some studying of the tree he debated in his mind the pros and cons before disregarding such in the name of curiosity. it has been a few years since he has climbed a tree, though he was a teenager when he last climbed a tree. . . shorter too . . . . so he began the upward climb into the tree. . . wearing the coat Ash had repaired from when they had met Stenson. like a bear awkwardly climbing, he slowly made progress into the tree. a clawless, oversized bear.
gummy bear, he was basically a gummy bear.

A flash of emerald swept through the trees, swerving in and around the tangle of branches. A pause every so often revealed the tiny, elegant form of a hummingbird, first hovering still in midair as if it were hanging from invisible wire, then forward again into a shimmering green streak of movement. Twilly kept herself hidden off a simple murmur she'd heard amongst the wildlife, of an oversized thing that resembled a bear but wasn't a bear. A human perhaps, but most beasts in these parts knew what humans looked like, and most who had scurried from the thing's path had come back to whisper to the plants and other animals of the creature's presence. Of course, Twilly had heard of all sorts of cryptids that frequented the woods nowadays, and most burned at her curiosity like a wildfire through dry wood. As she rounded a wide trunk, a heavy rustling caught her attention from somewhere above. The hummingbird's needled beak swept up, directing both her gaze and her flight in that direction. The thing was indeed massive, much too big to be a human, and it's hulking, leathery form pushed and pulled at the branches almost like a bear. Twilly flashed ahead, barely a glimmer of green in the thing's peripherals. If it even noticed her of course. Somewhere higher up, Twilly found a small branch and landed with a flicker of feathers and wings, the movement sharp and almost authoritative, like a policeman pulling their uniform into formal correction. The hummingbird leaned in for a closer look, turning her head this way and that to peer with dark, beady eyes at the strange intruder. She was not far from the hulking creature, maybe only a few feet higher as it climbed, and from where she was she could get a better look at it, and now she began to wonder if it might be a human afterall.
But the size was all wrong. All humans were giant compared to her, but this one was a true exception. It was enormous.
Twilly's feathers fluffed and fluttered a little closer. She could see flashes of its face and head, but mostly just as it looked about in the chore of climbing the tree. If it was a human, she was already annoyed at its presence and the way it was burdening the tree with its size, despite the tree's own size. Still, it had no business here, surely.

Jedidiah:
as he climbed, he did not realize there was a fairy fluttering towards him. . . though when he noticed a random bird he noticed how pretty it was before continuing on climbing the tree, it was a wood pecker that was picking at the wood for bugs to eat though it became startled when he was abit too close for confort. . . . . . oh wow, hes gone a distance. . . glancing down he became less impressed when he realized he was barely 15ish feet off of the ground. . . . surely he can climb higher then almost twice his height.
Of course, that trouble seeking voice in almost every young person's head is whispering in his head asking 'surely, I can do better then that?'. with an arm and a leg gone and replaced, he was very unlikely to break both his arms and legs. though its going to be hard to explain the reasoning behind just walking a random direction from his house and deciding to climb a tree for kicks and giggles.
The wonders of the shenanigans of the young know no bounds of many things. stupidity included. though if he just puts reason behind it, say trying to see above the trees or if he can climb that high. . . then it wasn't a mindless at the moment action. at least not in hindsight. people who live in the mountains need to be able to know they can climb at least. that and he was curios what it is like above the treelines.

There was a moment when the Big Man's head turned up to admire a passing woodpecker, when Twilly was finally able to get a decent look at him.
Definitely a human, at least from the face. No sign of the brutish, knobbly features of a troll or an ogre. There was some relief there. Now, what was the purpose of its venture? Twilly turned her head, this way and that, her small needle-like beak swaying as if she were saying "no" over and over while blinking down at the Big Man.
His face held a sort of child-like determination, and Twilly wondered if he had any real reason at all for climbing the tree. Other than exploration, from the looks of it. He continued on once the woodpecker had passed, and did not have his eye on any particular prize. He looked down again, perhaps to check his progress, and then continued with that same pointless determination that usually kept good company with basic curiosity.
Twilly fluffed again, and looked to the woodpecker. It had found another tree to busy itself with, no longer bothered by the invasive bulk that had interrupted its earlier chores. Up above the giant's head, a small sharp trill sounded across to the neighboring tree from the tiny green speck that was the hummingbird. The woodpecker's head swiveled from its work to peer at the hummingbird and then answered in kind with its own barking caw. The strange interspecies conversation lasted maybe only a few seconds, each one answering the other before the woodpecker finally took wing and vanished from sight in a flash of red and black. Moments later, the sound of beak hammering on wood could be heard somewhere above the giant's head once more. The hummingbird glanced away, no longer focusing on the woodpecker or the man below her as if neither had ever come to her attention to begin with. Twilly rustled her feathers, glancing nonchalantly at the sky and then took off in a whirr of tiny buzzing wings.
What the giant didn't realize was that the two birds had worked out a quick agreement. One that involved weakening a few higher branches. In the moments that followed, Twilly returned in a small green flurry of sparkling green and landed on top of the giant's head. The touch was brief, enough to get his attention before springing back into the air to buzz away. If he looked up, she would return again, this time landing on his nose with tiny scrabbling feet and buzzing wings against his brow and nose-bridge. She wanted him focused on her, not the woodpecker.

Jedidiah:
he continued to climb until he felt something on his head. . . he glanced upwards trying to see what landed on his head- oh God, please dont let it be pooop- before a bird landed on his face. . . .
say the least he was prepared for another bird to land on him for the sudden green infront of him actually startled him enough to let go of the branches. . . he just about gasped before flailing his arms to grab a good grip. and all though he managed to not plummet down onto his head and kill himself, he did stumble backwards and fall onto the ground, taking out a few branches on the way- hopefully not with the birdy in tow- . . .landing on his butt and back knocked the wind out of his chest. . . nothing was punctured. though apart of himself was happy he just manage to only knock the wind out of his chest. . .
another part was salty at the fact he didnt make it up as high, though that might of been broken bones and what not. . .

Twilly pushed away after her second buzzing assault only to hear the crashing results of the Big Man suddenly losing his grip to the pull of gravity and inbalance. She hovered as the giant landed heavily on the ground below, a pitiful pile of broken branches and wheezing hulk. Leaves fluttered lazily down after him as if to inquire if he was ok. Even the woodpecker above halted in its task of chewing away at higher branches to look down at the giant. Twilly landed and looked up, giving a very unbird-like shrug towards the woodpecker and examined the fallen giant below. The woodpecker, meanwhile shuffled its feathers in annoyance and took off, no longer feeling needed.
Twilly had a small urge to giggle, but managed to keep her composure. Instead, she moved in a little closer, dropping from branch to lower branch until she was at one of the bottom limbs.
She wondered what he might do next, thinking of the child-like curiosity he'd had before? Oooh, if he cried, she might just lose it. Normal sized humans were hilarious enough as it is.

Jedidiah:
he sighed, sitting up and popping his back. . .holy shet he was feeling his age now. . . he frowned glancing at the tree and seeing how far he got up before chucking at himself. eh, enough testing to see if hes over the hill or how far over the hill he is to date. he stood up and brushed his back and butt off, removing bits of leaves, grass and dirt off before noticing a green bird. . . .oh that might be the same one that startled him. . .
he started to chuckle abit at the bird, it reminded him of one of those slap stick cartoons where the characters where mischievous little turds that did various pranks or traps and what not just to mess with or hurt the more predatorial one. like the three stooges or a cat n mouse sort of cartoon. or, well, the ones hes noticed play at the hospital while he was doing residency. in alright, he oughta find another tree or do something else seeing that this little guy was just watching him, as 'menacingly' as one might expect a little surgar-water bird could, or being glared down by a rabbit. . . so he walked onward, yet further away to go find a thicker tree, or at least an easier to climb one.

Twilly's flattened feathers suddenly puffed at the sound of the Big Man's chuckle. He'd finally noticed her now, and he was laughing at her, not the other way around. Who did he think he was?? He'd just made a fool of himself, and he had the nerve to laugh at her? Well, she'd show him-
Wait. He was walking off now, as if none of this had happened. Where was he going now?
Twilly shook her beak with feathers still poofed before taking off after him. She followed, a soft humming nearby that drew closer from time to time as the man walked. At one point, it came so close to his ear he might have thought it was a bee trying to investigate his hearing. Twilly continued to pester him in this way, wondering what he was up to and where he was going. Her own frustrated motions were jagged and almost teasing, dipping in and out of reach like an angry wasp.

Jedidiah:
when he heard a loud buzzing that seemed to grow closer, he gently brushed at the one beating their wings around his head away, not wanting to hurt whatever was mad at them. . . it sounded angry. oh geez, hopefully he didnt land on a wasps' nest . . . well, he cant very well lead THAT back towards the house, then he would just be doomed, that and the clinic. . .
he couldn't risk patients' lives, especially with at risk immune systems or potential allergies to the toxins/venom emitted from wasps. "uum, please stop following me, im not worth being stung, mr wasp." he stated, not glancing at whatever was fluttering angrily at him.

The wasp comment caused Twilly to pause in midair. Her wings hummed at her sides before she shook her head. Apparently this one was thick headed. But then, this wasp idea wasn't a bad one, was it? She had a new prank in mind, one that would surely have a stinging success!
Cutting ahead, Twilly disappeared from sight before reappearing moments later with something in her beak. It was a twisting piece of vine lined with tiny, prickling thorns. More specifically, a piece of raspberry bush, minus the berries. The thorns were finer than a rose or blackberry bush, perfect for itchy irritation. She landed a short distance ahead. The hummingbird's feathers fluffed and flattened before suddenly turning into her own slender fairy form. She kept herself as far out of sight as she could while she worked, pulling handfuls of thorns from the vine until she had a neat little bundle of thorns grasped in both hands. She smiled, feeling a small urge to dance in place, before looking back up and out at where the giant was headed. He was closer now, his footsteps heavy on the overgrown forest floor. With itch-thorns in hands she waited, and the moment he passed her she was up in a flash, wings humming at her back and thorns at the ready to go down the back of his coat. With careful aim, she made her dive.

Jedidiah:
when it seemed that the 'wasp' stopped following him. . . he slowed before stopping, glancing behind him. . . .he didn't hear anything behind him, but he did hear something whizz past him. . .
he sighed. perhaps he should consider heading back after falling out of a tree and being chased by a singular wasp. . . tree climbing will have to wait until next time hes off. but then he stopped. . . .wait, what time is it?
he glanced down at his watch to gauge the time of day. . .figuring it was . . . 3:00? nope. . . he gave up at 11:00 in the morning. . . well, darn, if his brothers were here, they would never let him live it down that a wasp got to him. well, come to think of it, what sort of wasp gets mad only to buzz past the one that supposedly wronged them? . . . something tells him that theres something amidst here? he quietly listened for whatever was out there. . .
but then a vine of thorns was chucked at him and into his coat causing him to jump abit and use his right hand to pull them out . . . freaking out abit that there was something that went into his coat. . . what in the flying- why did these thorns go into his coat? and why does his back suddenly itch?
if it wasn't a wasp he pissed off, and Thank God not a bee-since he would of been swarmed for a mile- then what did he anger?
what was he grandpa shuffling away from? he glanced around before finally hearing the faint fluttering of wings above him. . .he glanced upwards to see the green bird again. . .
wow. . .that bird really was like one of those cartoon birds that causes alotta trouble to unsuspecting folks. . he hopes his life isnt some sort of sick and twisted cartoon for the entertainment of random sadistic beings on a Saturday morning.

Twilly watched in silent amazement as the Big Man jumped, then grabbed and itched at the thorns on his back. She hovered just above, watching the entire thing unfold like a child watching the results of a long awaited experiment that went just as planned.
It wasn't until he looked up and spotted her, his face a mask of confusion and bewilderment that she finally lost her composure. A strange thing to experience, perhaps, but Jedidiah would find that the hummingbird he was looking at was suddenly...laughing at him. A high, shrill sound, as it fluttered in a tight circle just above his head. Hummingbirds were known to do many strange and wonderful things, but laughing was perhaps not something anyone would expect...

Jedidiah:
"huh. . . never knew a humming bird can laugh. . . " he quietly mumbled. though it seemed to show alot more intelligence then a humming bird. . ."I'm not too sure why you threw thorns into my coat, but that wasn't very nice. " he called. "though, probably pointless to try and talk to you. . .I don't know if your capable of speech. . " he added in thought. . . ehh, oh well, the bird is not a nice birdie. . no sugar water for a rude birdie.
he sighed before walking off to go find a tree away from the asshole bird. . .before it does something like poop on his head.
guess hes going to try again with climbing onto a tree. . .

Twilly's giggling paused only for a moment before doubling into a full, squeaking laughter. She couldn't help herself, and at this point it was becoming clear that this giant was not a normal human, if at all. He seemed more inconvenienced by her shenanigans than genuinely freaked out, but something about his exasperation made the entire thing rather comical.
After some effort, she managed to get her cackling under control, breathing them out in small chuckles before zipping here and there just above the giant's head. She kept herself in his peripherals, curious and fully enjoying herself.

Jedidiah:
H sighed before thinking for abit. . . He probably did agrovate the poor bird climbing into the tree . . . Disturbed her nest or something similar of the sort . . . He sighed . . . He should at least try and make nice with the angry birdy so it doesnt poop on his head while hes out and about. . .
So he dug into one of his pouches . . . Before pulling out a granola bar in its wrapper, one of those trail mix bars full of nuts, oats and berries for the on the go adventure . . A candy bar to him but the birdy might enjoy it? So he unwrapped it and stuffed the wrapper in his pocket, before offering the bar in his hand.
"Well . . . I'm sorry for making you upset. . .can we at least not be enemies?" He asked, not sure what to expect. . . Though he does hear giggling? . . .
This is the weirdest bird in the God given world.
