Dragged from her imaginings of mountain tops and adventure, for a moment after that final question, Sara simply blinked and tilted her head, perplexed. Trilogolic shifter? She'd never heard such a thing described before, certainly not about herself. Not to mention these 'texts of old'. Had Zavijah mistaken her for something else? Still, after a moment of being perplexed, the redhead thought she could at least answer the question of how her powers worked; to the best of her knowledge at least. Sara still wasn't really certain all the ins and outs of her powers, just her most educated guess from self-study and a breakdown of the events surrounding when the abilities had first manifested.
"'Ave tah be honest luv, ain't sure what ya mean by Trilogolic shifter, like-" she explained, running one hand through the fluffy ginger hair at the back of her head, "-but I can tell ya as much as I know about me powers like. 'Aven't quite git the full measure of it meself yet." Placing her essentially finished cup of tea aside, Sara then folded her hands over themselves on the counter top and took a moment to consider what she was about to say. Since she wanted to be understood, the shifter reverted to her received pronunciation, as though she were addressing an audience for a presentation and wanted to be sure she would be understood. "I wasn't born with these abilities. About four years ago, nearly five now, I was working in the genetics store, where we keep a log of all species on record." A wry smile crossed her features. "Good thing I was in the non-supernatural section, else who knows what I'd be like now, like."
Another small pause, as Sara thought back on that day. Really, it was a marvel she hadn't been killed, given the size of the explosion and the violent change in her own physical and chemical makeup. "So there's an explosion, no-one really knows what caused it, whether it was magical in nature or what, but it destroyed the lab with me in it. I wake up and suddenly there's something... different about me. I have this new feeling, a weight, unidentified muscles I've never had to use before." She pointed down at her tail, curled casually near her feet. "But not only that, there was another set of muscles, or at least that's the best way I can describe it. You know how, when you move say, your fingers, you don't actively have to think about it anymore? It's sort of like that for me, an instinctive flexing of a muscle. Only that muscle is moulding my own genetic code, reverting to stem cells and then reforming into whatever creature I want, so long as I have the DNA in my 'record', for lack of a better term. If I get a sample - blood, semen, saliva, cells of any description - from another species, even supernatural, I can then shapeshift into my own version, as though I had been a member of that species from birth. Except..." Her tail thumped against the floor. "-for my scaly friend here. Not really sure why it sticks with me, no matter what I turn into, but I can only put it down to me working on crocodile DNA at the time, so I had near direct contact with it." With her explanation concluded, Sara gave Zavijah an apologetic look, aware that she'd just dumped a lot of information at once. "Theoretically, I can shapeshift into an unlimited number of creatures, the only limit being they have to be a multicellular animal. Did that answer your question, like?"

zavijah:
"'Ave tah be honest luv, ain't sure what ya mean by Trilogolic shifter, like-" Sara replied, running her hand through her hair "-but I can tell ya as much as I know about me powers like. 'Aven't quite git the full measure of it meself yet."
The swordsman tilted her head in question. . . . perhaps she should pull out the texts she spoke of? she did spend a good amount of time scribing down entire libraries when she was hiding from the soldiers at night when no danger revealed themselves to her. . . .sealing the scribes to a personal library of her own. . .The monks she had encountered over the years being kind enough to teach her how to read them. . .
But then she continued. . .at the explanation that these abilities were gained through an explosion within the lab, she was both concerned and sympathized with the shifter seeing that she too, as also had a few fair shares of explosions apon her own search for formulas that functioned properly in practice rather than in just theory. The only difference was she was lucky to not have encountered a life-changing event that changed her in such a drastic manner. Though she was a little confused as to what are cells? DNA. . .from the context, it seemed as though DNA is a sort of code for living beings. Cells seem to refer what makes the body up in general. . . though the last part suggested that there exists such as things as those with merely one cell. . .
And her tail seemed to be a result from her handling the sample of the creature during the event. . . she quietly pondered apon the explanation. . . ". . .I see. . .True, to what was at least known to me, Most shifters were born with their abilities. There were those who spread their abilities, but I've never thought such could be gained through an accident. " she replied after abit of thought. "The term may still apply since it was never specified to just those born of the ability. That is a different term of its own. although. . ." she glanced back towards Sara, more questions than answers but not willing to bury her in such. . .
overtime, maybe but not all at once. . . .
"Does that include those whom's body would prove dangerous or deadly to a normal human being as well? " she asked. "such as those similar to me?"

Sara was more than a little concerned she'd overwhelmed Zavijah with information, given the expressions that flickered across the other woman's face during and after her explanation. Did she even understand half of the terms used? The shifter hadn't given much thought to her friend's scientific knowledge before diving headfirst into her spiel. Was DNA a term she was familiar with?
Before Sara could open her mouth to ask, perhaps explain in simpler terms if required, Zavijah began to talk again. A smile graced the redhead's features at mention of 'not thinking such powers could be gained through an accident'. "Why aye luv, I ain't like most." She chuckled, before the shifter's head tilted and her nose crinkled in confusion.
Dangerous to normal human beings? But she'd touched Zavijah's skin before and nothing had been amiss. Something internal? Her blood, perhaps. Sara had known from day one, when they'd fought the corrupted leshy together, that her companion was most certain not human, given the injuries that had been sustained that day. But, given the events then and in Sara's own life of late, she'd never thought to ask. Now seemed like the opportunity. "Similar to ya luv? What do ya mean by that, like? Am I alreet tah ask what ya are, what the danger is, exactly?" She held her hands up in a placating gesture. "Divvint 'ave tah tell us, mind, but ya 'ave me curious now, like."

zavijah:
". . I. . .will answer this. "she replied. "Tis perhaps time I reveal the truth to you as well as to what I am blood wise. "
she pondered for a while, perhaps to try and figure out exactly how to word the explanation if she should. " . . . .If you recall, when we had first met, I've told you my blood might hurt you. " she paused for abit before continuing. " this is an understatement, for it rivals the blood of terra in heat. . . what some would refer to as 'magma'." she stated.
"My blood melts most metals humans normally use, if enough is spilled out apon a dry day or if the metal is stabbed or placed within me. . . Tis especially dangerous considering I do not sense temperature the same as how you would. "
well, the ones who ran the investigation of the seal that she, herself was a victim of know what she was. perhaps it would be wise to regale to Sara as well. . .
"where I am from, what I am; I am referred to as an Halfblood. My mother was a human, while my father was what is known to them as a Sun Pureblood. Because my mother was human, I am considered as a Moon-sun halfblood. Those of human mothers are considered the thieves of the created taboo; for having the power greater or equal to their father- yet the ability to control it as their mother."
If she was back where she was born- this was a suicidal conversation. Perhaps as suicidal as revealing to the Officers as well as Stenson this same information- if they were within the realm she was born within.
"You might only feel the distant haze of it from my skin for it insulates the heat. There has been others whom concerned over me over a 'fever' when I'm mistaken as an elf or a human. . . this is part of the reason why I am not keen apon others aiding me when I am injured. I've witnessed too many whom have been harmed by my blood when they tried to aid me. Their hands combusting into fire while flesh and bone melted. The reason I kept placing the bear cloak during the time apon your shoulders when you wanted to mend my wounds . . . to protect you from me."

Sara’s eyebrows shot up into her fringe at Zavijah’s explanation. But, despite her obvious surprise, she said nothing throughout the entirety of her friend’s explanation, preferring not to interrupt. Afterwards, the shifter placed one hand against her chin, head tilted slightly down and brows drawn together in thought. Purebloods and halfbloods? The shifter had heard such terms before, usually to denote whether a member of a species came from ‘pure’ lines or not. Often such terms were used to establish rank, with halfbloods looked down upon near every time. Therefore, she wasn’t too surprised when Zavijah admitted she would be considered taboo, though Sara wished that hadn’t been the case. She hated to think her companion had suffered because of it, but imagined that had been exactly what had happened.
Sara wracked her brain for any existing species she knew of that contained blood as hot as magma, but couldn’t think of any. Not even fire dragons had blood that hot. To her knowledge, Zavijah and the purebloods she had mentioned were new. Sara had so many questions; where her friend was from, was it this world, this planet even? Were there others like her? What other abilities did she have? Curiosity swelled thick and fierce inside her, but Sara held her tongue for the moment, not wanting to press her friend too hard, too fast. Already it was clear talking about herself made Zavijah nervous and uncomfortable, likely because of her ‘taboo’ status.
So, for the moment she focused on the potential of Zavijah’s blood harming her. The shifter hummed beneath her breath, considering what she had been told and thinking on her own abilities. Sara’s shifts were incredibly rapid, this she already knew. If Zavijah’s blood were to spill on her, it would burn through the first few layers of her skin, then likely mix with her own blood, but what would happen after that, she didn’t know. A reflexive shift to protect herself? Potentially. It wouldn’t be the first time such a thing had happened. She’d likely become a pureblood in that case, her body separating out the new DNA from any entwined human genome. Still, the initial damage would still be rather painful. “I appreciate ya steps to protect me, like,” the shifter said with a warm smile, lifting her gaze to Zavijah’s, “-while I cannae say for certain what ya blood would do to us in the short term, I know I’d absorb it an’ be able tah turn intah me own version of ya purebloods, then, once I was shifted, I imagine I’d be alreet, ya know? So, if we ‘ave any accidental spills, like, ya needn’t fret luv, I should be alreet.”

zavijah:
she seemed to pause in thought, sink abit at the thought Sara actually becoming a Pureblood. Her abilities can do such a thing as segregating the human blood from the pureblood?!?
Before she shook her head slightly when Sara noted she should be alright. "Sara. . . I still rather not harm with my blood, if I can help it. . .especially you. . .For what damage it can cause while it harms- wherever it may land- may forever hinder or destroy what it hath touched. " she replied.
"Then there is the other aspect of the pureblood side. . . I know not if my own blood is poisonous. . . I assume no- considering the number of times its fallen and no plant life had perished from events not related to temperature. . . perhaps I merely did not inherit their poisonous nature. . ." she paused before glancing back at her ally.
"Because of the harsh temperatures of their blood; Sun purebloods' blood is violently poisonous. a mere drop can end the lives of 200 men. . . .perhaps a trade-off for them having similarly heated yet poisonous blood is they cannot enter most bodies of water. . . or they will freeze to death. the coldest they can endure would be waters of a natural hot spring. " she explained, sipping from the teacup again before finally setting it down on the counter.
This was when she noticed the flap of the pouch slightly opened before moving back onto the conversation between herself and her ally. . . odd. . .she did not remember partially opening it. . .though it was closed off enough where too much heat will not escape it. Its safe for the time being.
". . . I apologize. . .If. .the event comes and you do end up being able to shift into something like me. . .or to the similar species of my father, You need to know some of comes of being of them. I'd rather you not become marred by me, just to become marred by water that is considered harmless to humans if you do end up becoming a Pureblood."she sighed before smiling slightly.
". . . hopefully. . .There never comes a time that I accidentally burn you with my blood. . . " come to think of it, Sara does have that bear cloak that would protect her from the blood's heat- as well as simply protect her in general. . . . assuming it was not lost or disguarded. . . hopefully. .

Normally, Sara was all too happy to take on new forms, eagerly asking whether she could have a sample from a great many supers who crossed her path. But she thought perhaps, in this instance, that her curiosity was best kept shelved. If nothing else, Zavijah seemed distressed by even the concept of it. Not only that, an involuntary shift, being caught out in the rain or spilling some of this 'Pureblood' on anything or anyone else could be catastrophic.
The hazards outweighed the benefits, that much was clear.
Sara reached across the table and patted Zavijah gently on the back of her hand. "We'll cross that bridge if we come tah it, alreet? Ya warned me abowt the blood an' the water, an' I ain't abowt tah ask for a sample, so we should be alreet." A half-smile curled onto her lips as she jokingly said, "Just means ya 'ave tah look after yaself an' nowt git 'urt, like. Eee, an' if ya are bleedin', I still 'ave that cloak ya gave us, should keep me safe, reet?"

zavijah:
at the assurance of this. . .it felt abit alleviating. She had the cloak still, and she seemed to understand that her non-human half was not safe to pursue- at least not with caution to the wind. "Correct. The cloak will protect you from my blood's heat as it had in the past. " she nodded.
Tention she did not know was held within her hand lessened at the reassurance. She huffed abit in amusement when Sara jested at her about her 'danger prone tendencies'.
"If a time comes to such, both of us will need to give blood to the other. " she replied, smiling from the tease. " Tis bad luck to not- though if we did do such, it would make us blood sisters. "
She sighed. "Would you like some more tea?" She asked. There was still the other herbs to expose Sara to as well. "If you would like, I have the seeds for the Maritime Blooms. Although normally dificult to grow, they would thrive in this region. " she added.

"Why aye man, I'd love more tea like, but let me git ya one of me own brews this time." The shifter winked at her companion as she rose from her seat. "We can trade back an' forth, experience new tastes, ya know?" With a bounce in her step, the shifter set about putting on a pot of English Breakfast, since that had been the flavour of tea her friend had earlier decided upon. It was one of her own favourites, so she was more than glad to share it. Pretty soon, more water was boiling, the tea pot filled with no small amount of leaves. A strong brew was a healthy brew, after all.
But, as she turned back to Zavijah to open up another conversation topic, Sara's words caught in her partially opened mouth, her expression morphing into one of confusion, curiosity and slight trepidation. With the kitchen door open and a clear line of sight to her friend's belongings, the redhead noticed something... peculiar. "Uhm... Zavi luv," she said, voice caught somewhere between fierce interest and a level of nervousness "-ya bag seems... tah be movin' like." Her tail tapped the floor, nose twitching as though she might make use of the senses many of her animal forms had access to. She wanted to get closer, wasn't sure if she should. "A wee blighter from the forest git in there while ya weren't lookin', like?"

zavijah:
"agreed" she nodded. She does like learning new things, new experiences, just as she likes to expose her ally to such as well. The mundane and happy of experiences, of course. God, forbid, she exposes her ally to the dark experiences. . . . . tis not a kind to do to the poor woman, she was too innocent. . . too good-natured.
she happily got up and gathered their cups, rinsing them out before setting the two cups aside for when the tea was ready- might be an interesting experience to mix flavors- but one that might end in voiding their bowels.
"Uhm... Zavi luv,"
she glanced over at Sara, noticing the note of confusion in her voice. Her thoughts went dark at the concern of it. . . was there something wrong ? "-ya bag seems... tah be movin' like." the shifter continued.
she tilted her head before glancing between her bags before seeing what she might be referring to. " . . .oh. . " she voiced, before a small smile grew on her lips. she carefully moved to flip the flap of the pouch off completely before removing what would appear to be a small jade box. . . Apple Jade, in particular. it was beautiful carved to a mirror polish depicting winged beasts, starry skies as well as other various plant and animal life, to someone who my not know, it looked like a small jewelry box. It was perhaps big enough to fit 3 or 5 eggs within it from the size.
she glanced over towards her ally, the smiling never faltering. " Sara. . . . .do you recognize this one? " she asked, carefully setting the box down on the table for Sara to inspect.
"You've met this one before. . . the same day we have met. . .Bruse, you may find this one familiar as well. " she added.

Bruse drifted from his meditation at the slight confusion and trepidation that filtered through the Bond and lifted his gaze towards the kitchen. After a moment of contemplation, he rose and approached the duo.
It seemed there was something moving within Zavijah's bag, although Bruse could not sense any immediate danger at first. He watched as Zavijah pulled out a box of sorts and held it before her. "You've met this one before. . . the same day we have met. . .Bruse, you may find this one familiar as well." Zavijah said with a smile.
Bruse fixed his gaze on the box, waiting. He wondered what it might be, and cast a warm wave of reassurance over Sara through the Bond. Whatever it was, she needn't be afraid.

Sara's look of curiosity morphed steadily back into one of nervous trepidation as Zavijah mentioned their first meeting. The shifter could still remember the primordial rage that had overtaken her, how capable of rampant destruction she could be when backed by 8 tonnes of prehistoric muscle. She had attacked in defence of her friend, that much was true, but still it pained her to think that the leshy had perished because of her savagery. Now, Zavijah was asking her to remember that day? Had she brought some kind of token of remembrance for the poor creature?
But then, why was it moving?
"I uhm... I remember the Leshy, like." Sara said uncertainly, her arms wrapped around herself. Even now, many months after her own attack, the shifter wasn't as good as she used to be when dealing with uncertain situations, or her own memories. Zramek's activities, amongst other things, hadn't helped. The tip of her crocodilian tail wrapped around Sara's leg as she took a subconscious step closer to Bruse and the relative comfort of his Bond link. Still, she wanted to give her friend the benefit of the doubt about.. whatever this might be.
A wobbly smile graced her features. She ran a hand through the strands of her fiery red hair. "Is this," she indicated the box, but didn't yet make a move to touch it, "-somethin' tah do with the wee critter, like?"

zavijah:
She took notice at her ally's hesitance. . . The leariness and nervousness in reguard of the box she had just placed apon the table. . .she was right, it indeed moved on occasion. . . Perhaps it was time for this closure to occur for Sara. . .
She could not blame the shifter, glancing over towards her, she saw Sara taking a tentative step towards Bruse. . She blames the shifter not. . . .for that day they had met was not pleasant. . . Not a fond memory to regale of, but she did not allow such to dullen the smile on her face. . . When Sara asked if this box had anything to do with the creature they encountered. . . She merely nodded.
"Do you recall the mention of potential reincarnation for the Leshy?" She asked. . .
She glanced to the box, taking note of yet another twitch from the box. . .a rather lively little thing, wasn't it?. .especially compared to how she found it. . . "This box was meant to offer warm and protection while the innocence grew . . . I found it alone within a nest. . .alive, yet barely. . . As lively as it is, is a world's difference than how it was. . ." She continued.
She glanced over towards the shifter before gesturing towards the box. . "Would you like to welcome the little one into the world once again?" She asked.

Bruse held steady as Sara leaned closer and began to exude some anxious energy. He couldn't blame her, he too remembered the spirit they had all encountered on Sara and Zavijah's first day meeting. He had escorted the newborn energy back to a safe place once it had been cleansed of corruption and nearly destroyed in the process. It was the least he could do after the battle.
Bruse thrummed distantly in Sara's mind, a monotone sound of calming, like the vibrations of some distant ocean. He offered comfort as she built up the courage to reveal what was in the box, feeding her memories of that night when he had escorted the spirit. It had been so happy and thankful, excited to start it's existence anew.

Sara stared at the box. Glanced at Zavijah, then at Bruse. Uncertain. Finally, back at the box.
Feeling a lump in her throat, the shifter swallowed. There was a well of excitement, of relief and warmth, that much was certainly true. But there was guilt, too. Self-loathing. She had injured the Leshy so much, been filled with such raw, unhinged fury that day... did she really deserve to be the one who welcomed it back? Even with the memories Bruse fed to her, beautiful though they were, Sara found herself torn, almost afraid.
But then, wouldn't now be the perfect time to give this reincarnated Leshy the best start to life she could give it?
So, with a steadying exhale and a little nod of her head, a slightly steadier smile, Sara said simply, "Alreet." The shifter took a few steps forward, reached forward and very carefully, slowly so as to not spook the new life inside, lifted the lid. "Come on then wee bairn, time tah say 'ello." Whispered words she couldn't help but utter, soft and undeniably affectionate, even though she hadn't yet seen what lay inside.
