Shortly after his second meeting with Sarkany, Cassius had submitted his request to meet Malthiel, directly to his home in person. This came in the form of a note which politely and formally asked for a meeting between them concerning Viktoria. The writing on the letter was cramped and formal, signed with his name in full, ‘Cassius Acilius Aureolus Lucidus’
He had to admit, even though he had been given contact information before, Cassius was surprised when his request was approved. Perhaps even more surprised to find that the place he had been asked to meet at was an office under the nightclub Lucid, which he had previously been given contact information concerning. With this in mind, Cassius had asked Sarkany for his thoughts concerning their request to meet, and Sarkany had indicated that he was not going to join him for the meeting itself, but would accompany him to the club.
And then, there they were. Cassius showed his invitation card to the bouncer at the door if he was asked. He was polite but as straightforward as always, never over-apologetic, with a hard, level gaze and a tense expression, like a working attack dog. He came dressed in one of his more formal suit jackets and slacks, with a white shirt, two buttons open, exposing the long lines of the scars across his muscular frame. After passing into the club itself, he decided maybe it was better to button the bottom one up for more formality.
The interior of the club was dimly lit. The music was not too loud, but its pulse made the walls and floor shake. There were two choices: the dance floor, and the lounge… But he was looking for an office. He was not here on official work business, but he felt a pervading sense of displacement, as if he was invading somewhere undercover.
However, while he thought he might be out of place, there were plenty of other rough-looking men wearing business-casual here. He eyed them once or twice, and then decided, they likely had another career trajectory than he did, but he could swear he smelled a werewolf or two at the bar while he passed by.
