Wren grinned flashing white teeth. Success! It was true that Wren had sensed a fellow nerd in Simon. It had still been a lucky guess.
“Heh unfortunately not one of my powers… But I do have a friend who’s psychic! Maybe it rubbed off on me? Who knows! “
Wren had a way of seeing into minds but it wasn’t exactly a party trick. No one wanted to watch them eat someone’s brain. Honestly Wren would be concerned if they did.
“Oh no… I’m ready to rumble! So ah what brought you both to WDSA?”
They led them out of the WDSA building and towards the place. There was a slight skip in Wren’s step. Hank would be so proud. The streetlights were din against the darkening sky and people were heading home. All in a hurry to get somewhere.

Simon snickered at Fao's response, following Wren out the door. He wondered what kind of super Wren was, they mentioned powers. It'd be rude to ask, at least right away.
"Hey, maybe, eh?"
The werewolf sniffed the cool air as they went into the night, picking up the scents of city life. Distant restaurants, cars, urban wildlife... Trash. After a day where he'd been mostly inside doing paperwork it was refreshing in a manner.
"Y'mean why do we work here? Heh. This is gonna be sappy, but I wanted to help folks. Y'know the drill."
Simon snorted, waving a hand. He enjoyed his work.

"I uh, slapped a possessed agent and somehow that resulted in a job offer." Faolan gave a self-deprecating smile. The story was still so embarrassing, but a good ice breaker he supposed. "Long and the short of it, surgeons are in high demand, especially those in the know about all the super stuff. It's way more interesting than a normal hospital, anyway."
He glanced along the street, enjoying the slight breeze that wound it's way through the skyscrapers and bustling restaurants.
"What about you, did you transfer from out of state, or?..."

Wren closed their eyes for a moment to enjoy the night air. It was refreshing after being stuck inside from hours. No distracting smells or conditioned air. They smiled at their two new friends.
“Yeah, I was working in the midwest. Just in a normal human kinda morgue, I mean I still do. I go between here and the city as an assistant. I like working at WDSA, pretending to be normal can be exhausting honestly… Especially with my dietary requirements. It’s a little cliché. A ghoul in the morgue but it just made sense…”
Wren hoped that hadn’t been too awkward. They never knew when or how to tell people. With a finger sticking out of their mouth or a bit of brain on their chin wasn’t it. Bubbles made a disgruntled sound as a crack in the pavement caused Wren to stumble.
“Oh! I don’t eat live people… Just…Just in case you thought. It’s completely ethical. I don’t kill to eat. “
Great. This is why they didn’t have many friends. Wren smiled awkwardly, running a hand unnecessarily through their hair.

Simon patted the ghoul on the arm, attempting to ease their anxiety.
"Hey, it's cool, bud. We weren't making any assumptions. Didn't think you did, you don't have to explain yourself to us, y'know? We meet all kinds of folks, and you wouldn't be at the WDSA unless you did good work."
Simon had met plenty of supers with a taste for human flesh, and worked with them to connect them with donors so the whole 'live feeding' could be avoided. He walked along, thinking for a moment, then made a decisive noise. If their new friend was gonna come out, he may as well too, as to lighten things and make them feel less like weirdo. He tried to catch their eye, and pulled a wide grin, the kind he hit his siblings with before pulling out the dad jokes.
"I dunno howl you'll take this, but I'd like you to be a-were, I'm a moonshifter. None of that gives either doc or me any paws."
He looked pleased with himself, grinning up at the ghoul.

Faolan scrunched up his nose good-naturedly at the puns, groaning. He’d been meaning to say something encouraging about Wrens diet, but Simon had cleared the tension in his usual manner - dad jokes. He lightly shoved the werewolf’s shoulder, resting his arm there as they continued walking.
“Oh my god. Yeah, get used to this. The more drinks you get in him the worse the puns become.”
He glanced along the street, searching for pixel palace among the myriad of neon lights and bar-signs.

Wren laughed at Simon’s punning, somehow put at ease. There was something about this werewolf that made you feel safe in his presence. He was pretty cute too. They blushed slightly.
“I look forward to that, sounds positively ghoulish. Oh look! There it is!”
The front of the bar was filled with friendly yellow light. The pixel motif strong even from the outside. Bright green pipes erupted from ceilings and floors. There were red mushroom tables with comfy chairs all around. Arcade consoles and board games were available to rent. Customers drank brightly colored drinks.
Wren found them a corner table and handed them each a menu.
“Pick your potion! First one is on me!”
Wren carefully lowered their backpack into a chair so hopefully Bubbles wouldn’t be disturbed. Her blue fluffy ears peaked from the top.
