Wren stretched as they hopped into the WDSA elevator. Bubbles snored softly from their backpack. It was nice to be out of scrubs and into something more casual and human. The smell of death still lingered softly under soap and perfume but it was never a bad smell to Wren. They often had to remind themselves that most other creatures found it distasteful. They had gone with a dark floral dress, jean jacket covered in pins and doc martens. It was paired with smoky eyeliner and deep purple lipstick, Wren’s favorite. It was a classic look and well worth the odd looks from those less accustomed to androgyny. They had long stopped caring what others thought. Pretty sure it’d be worse if they knew Wren was a ghoul.
The night was still relatively young and Wren looked about themselves for someone or some people to rope into drinks. Bubbles was always telling them they needed more friends. What better time than while she was sleeping? Social situations did not go smoothly with Bubbles whispering constantly in their ear. Her heart was in the right place but no one was impressed as she was by her extensive knowledge of cheese. Or turning people’s hard earned change into it.
They focused on creating a friendly aura: talk to me, I am cool I swear. Not going to chew on your entrails unless you die naturally in the next twenty-four hours, and not until you’re properly dead. Ughhh. This was why Wren needed more supernatural friendly friends. Bless Hank for putting up with their weirdness as long as he has.

Simon had gone to collect his buddy Fao! The good doctor had tendency to work late sometimes, and so did Simon, but tonight they'd planned for something fun! Nothing super solid, although Simon decided they could probably both use a good drink. Things were so chaotic lately, and they deserved a chance to relax. No sitting alone thinking about how the world was trying to end, no sir.
The werewolf chatted casually with his buddy as they went to wait for the elevator.
"Yeah, he's getting married. I'm glad, of course, he needs someone with a solid head on their shoulders, but... twenty three is nothing. Twenty three is a baby, man. He's just outta college, but maybe that's when you wanna do it? I dunno, he's happy, she's nice..."
His little brother had gotten engaged last weekend, and Simon was on the fence about the whole thing. He wanted his baby brother to be happy, of course, but he was so young! People got married at that age all the time, but thinking back to his maturity level at his brother's age, he had his doubts. It might get the old man off his back about Simon finding a lady to settle down with though.
The elevator dinged, and Simon stepped inside, smiling at the person standing there. They smelled... like death. And fun perfume.
"Hi."

"As long as he's happy, yeah." Faolan agreed, leaning a shoulder against the wall. "But 23? That is pretty young. Big commitment. How long have they been together for?"
The doctor had changed out of his scrubs for their after-work drinks into a casual, minimalistic outfit that was lacking his usual attention to detail, with no tasteful jewelry or matching bag. He'd been too busy to bother with that, lately. The faint shadow beneath his eyes was indicative of the state most WDSA employees were in - bone-tired and perpetually stressed, what with the reality warping potential apocalypse looming closer by the day. Drinks were sorely needed, and who better to go with than Simon?
"Hey." he echoed with a faint smile as he followed Simon into the elevator, taking in the strangers outfit with a non-judgmental up-down glance. Edge would have loved their pin-jacket and overall gothic look.

Wren smiled at the two newcomers to elevator world. Bubbles shifted in their backpack still sleeping thankfully. She was cranky when she didn’t get her nap. They looked like prime friend candidates. They’d seen them around time to time but not many people went down to the morgue if they could help it. Dead bodies made most humans queasy. Time to bust out the old charm. Dead people were so much easier to talk to. Nonjudgmental. Still.
“Hi guys! Don’t think we’ve been introduced properly... I mean you guys work upstairs and me in the morgue. No time like the present right? I’m Wren Flores. “
Wren put their hand out. They smiled again for good measure. It was too soon to mention drinks. Gotta ease it in. This was easier when they were in drag. It was such a confidence booster. What would Abbi Toir do?

Simon dropped the conversation about his little brother's potential marriage, deciding it'd be awkward to chat about with another person he didn't know too well along for the ride. He'd tell Fao the rest later. Ever friendly, Simon reached out and shook Wren's hand, returning their smile with one of his own. He didn't mind meeting new people, even if the elevator was traditionally where you try your hardest to ignore every other person around you. He could break the unspoken rules. He was just glad that Wren introduced themself by name- he hadn't had a clue.
"Hey, good to meet you, Wren! I'm Simon Groves. I'm over in Civil services."
Maybe Fao would know this person a little better, working in medical and all. He could leech of his social connections.

"Nice to meet you. Faolan Mura, I work in ER." Faolan smiled warmly, shaking the offered hand. The marriage gossip could continue later. "I think Jacobs mentioned you once or twice. You've been here for a month or two right?"
He didn't think he'd actually seen them before, but the mortician had mentioned a new staff member in passing. Death and corpses were a part of his job, but the morgue wasn't a place he really enjoyed visiting. The hushed quiet of the place was so at odds with the constant noise and bustle of the ER. And knowing the WDSA, there was probably a higher liklihood of spirits or poltergeists appearing.

Wren smiled at the two potential friends, this seemed to be going better than they had expected. They nodded happily.
“Yup! Finished my degree last year and found myself in Wathais. It’s really nice working in a supernatural friendly morgue. Don’t have to sne… I uh… isn’t the cafeteria just great? Speaking of I was uh thinking of getting a drink and they say you shouldn’t drink alone, right?”
Real smooth. It could have gone worse. At least Wren had stopped themselves from making a bad morgue joke. Or letting their dietary requirements known, Wren didn’t want to ick them out before they got a chance to know each other.

Simon grinned a bit wider, trying to put the other at ease. He sensed a little anxiety in Wren at the mention of the cafeteria being the thing to give it away, because, well. It was cafeteria food.
"Yeah! Wathais is real good for that, tons of supers 'round, heh."
It seemed like Wren wanted to go and grab a drink with them. That was exactly what Fao and he were planning to go do. It wouldn't hurt to get to know Wren, would it? They were new, and everyone needed a proper welcome. Simon glanced at Fao out of the corner of his eye to measure his response to the idea while nodding at Wren.
"Hey, that sounds like that could be fun..."

Faolan looked to Simon in his peripherals at the same time the werewolf did, noting his nod. It wasn't a desperate "say no" side eye, so drinks it was.
The doctor smiled brightly at the offer, hoping a warm demeanour would help Wren's obvious anxiety. Making friends as an adult was hard, and he sympathised with being the new person at work.
"I'm down for that! Did you have a bar in mind?"
He'd been to a handful of hidden gems with Edge over the years, and already had an idea of which alternative bars Wren would like best.

Wren noted the looks, well it wasn’t a no. Hopefully they hadn’t been planning something too private. Oh god what if they’d crashed an after work date? The third wheel. That was a nightmare Wren did not want to be part of. Not that they were adverse to threesomes but that was definitely not what this was about. Great now it was weird. Wren shook their head trying to clear their thoughts.
They smiled at the two guys friendfully.
“Oh! I mean… I have a couple but they’re not super near. I even perform at one! I am happy to go with whatever you guys have in mind! As long as it isn’t a kink club heh…”
Wren was ready to curl up and die. Hopefully they weren’t regretting their decision to include them.
“A joke… Sorry. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…”
Wren smiled weakly.

Simon snorted, bringing his hand to his face to cover his big goofy grin.
"Oh, I guess we can shelve the kink club for tonight, heh... we were planning on grabbing a drink already, actually, but hadn't settled on a place. We're open to suggestions. ...You said ya preform somewhere?"
Fao was pretty good at picking places, typically. Simon wasn't terribly picky, but his taste in bars was also kind of bad. In the end he preferred was places where the music wasn't so loud you couldn't hear yourself think, what with his canine hearing and all.

"Ugh, there goes our plan." Faolan went along with the joke, fake-pouting at Simon he playfully nudged the man. Wren was most definitely nervous, but really - Simon was just about the best guy a socially anxious colleague could run into.
"Yeah, why don't we go there?" Faolan nodded, curious as to which bar it would be. Maybe the black rabbit or jadetooth, two alternative spots he'd been to with Edge a handful of times.

Wren smiled with relief that the joke went over alright, this was actually going pretty well. They nodded, it was a pretty chill place when shows weren’t on and there was nothing tonight. In fact it was pretty darn cool, who didn’t like video games!
“Oh okay… How about 100% Pixel Revolution? It’s pretty low key and it’s kinda like an arcade fir adults. It’s not too far! I can probably even get a discount.”
Were they trying to sell it too hard? Nah it was fine. Everyone likes a discount and it was pretty cool there. The aesthetics alone were awesome, lots of bright lights and colours. A video game paradise. Themed drinks. The whole enchilada. They even served them.
The elevator dinged as the reached the ground. Bubbles stirred a little in their backpack letting out a loud snore. Wren smiled awkwardly, Bubbles could be introduced when she woke up.

Simon's grin grew. Oh that sounded right up his alley.
"Hey, that sounds pretty good, bud, huh?" He exchanged another glance with Fao. Fao wasn't as into the nerdy stuff as he was, but discounts on drinks and making a new friend would probably sit alright with the blond.
"I like that kinda thing. You need to do anything before heading over?"

"Aw, man." Faolan puffed out a laugh, running a hand over his face at Simon's enthusiasm. "Are you a psychic or anything? You couldn't have chosen a better place for this guy."
It sounded fun, especially with a few drinks involved. And it would be nice to get to know the other better. They seemed sweet.
