After a few moments of just letting him hold her, Kitty tilted her head up to look at the wendigo. Her ears pinned back as she warred with herself, knowing they shouldn't be getting this relaxed, but unable to help herself. She knew already, even though it only simmered in the back of her consciousness, that she would almost certainly go back to Isaac, whether in a few hours or days, she still knew she would. Because she wanted to go back, as ridiculous as she knew that might be.
The vampire remained quiet for a long moment, until her arms came around Kail's back to return his one-armed hug in full. The gesture just seemed right for the moment. Then, with a slight glance away because for some reason Kitty felt almost shy doing it, she rose onto her tiptoes and placed a light kiss on the wendigo's cheek. "Probably the smarter choice." It was a brief thing, though even with how light and quick it had been the vampire was surprised he didn't leap out of her arms and away from her. The wendigo had always been strangely prudish, something she took delight in on many an occasion to tease him with.
Right now, though, wasn't the time for teasing and almost immediately after Kitty was sighing and gritting her teeth. "Dammit Kail." Her ears were still pinned back and her tail lashed a couple of times from agitation. She'd seen the smile on his face and knew she'd be the one to wipe it off him. Another thing she didn't want to do. But practicality won out over sentimentality. "Ya bloody done it now. God... I want to stay, but I can't say I... that I definitely will, or even for how long. And I ain't gunna lie to ya, just because that's what ya wanna hear. Ya understand?"

There was no movement from the wendigo, save for the tilt of his head as he looked down as Kitty moved, watching her ears flatten and recognizing the turmoil in her eyes. His hand settled on her side, at her ribs, on the side where he'd staked her.
When her lips brushed his cheek in a brief kiss, he looked away, unable to muster the energy to properly shy away from her and act out his usual theatrics at her flirtations. His ears did twitch to the side in embarrassment, and his gaze slid away, but his grin actually widened fractionally. How stupid they were, like teenagers holding hands for the first time.
And then it faded, at her next words. When he nodded, it was with clear reluctance.
“I do.” his mouth slanted. He was clearly miserable to admit it. “I ain't gonna force ya to stay. I want ya too, but….it doesn't matter if ya go back, if ya want to go to him, because I ain't giving up on ya just yet, okay? We can work it out.” there was a steely determination to his words. He knew he was out of his league, way over his head with whatever it was that had captured Kitty, but he'd be damned if he'd let her go that easily. He wouldn't roll over and bare his throat.

The determination, stubbornness, whatever it was laced through Kail's words, made fresh dread settle in Kitty's gut. She could just imagine him tracking her down, showing up on Isaac's lawn and shrieking obscenities. It'd be hilarious if it weren't so fatally stupid. At least he'd accepted her words, for the moment.
But a frown creased the redhead's face as further emotion bubbled up inside her. She very suddenly reached up and grabbed Kail's face with both hands, dragging him down so he was eye level with her. Kitty stared at him, her expression a mixed blend of emotions that were impossible to separate, but every single one of them was intense. Focused mostly in the blazing blue of her gaze. "If you die, I will never fuckin' forgive you."

He jolted at the feel of her palms agaisnt his face, and stayed stooped at her level, bemused.
“Guess I should keep kickin’ for a while longer then, huh?” Both touched and amused by her show of affection, the wendigo wasn't quite sure how to reply to her. The crooked smile stayed as he stared into the blue of her eyes. He didn't really care if he died. He'd lived long enough, and if he was killed in an effort trying help her, it would be worth it. Would be better then living in the shadows and doing nothing.
Already he was planning his next steps. As much as he wanted to follow her home and straight up fight this Isaac, he knew he would have to be smarter about it then that. Would have to stalk and evaluate and assess and then, then he could strike. Charging in blindly would be suicidal, and useless to Kitty.

That stupid smile was still on his face.
His response was so laissez-faire it was near infuriating and she could see the cogs whirring behind his expression. Kitty stared at him for a long moment, thinking to herself that god only knew what the idiot was trying to plan. Frustration, disbelief and anger at the whole situation rose up. But she was also touched. That he was still willing to go this far for her. Something new unfurled in her chest, or maybe something that had been there a long time and she was only just allowing it to flower.
Emotions built up. She felt like she wanted to hit a wall, or yell, run a mile, do something, anything to deal with the maelstrom inside herself. "Tch. Dammit, ya stupid, stubborn, gangly-"
Kitty's feelings found an outlet, in a way that she hadn't anticipated but found she didn't hesitate for. She closed the distance and pressed her lips to his for a second or two. A heat flared and spread along her skin so unexpectedly that very suddenly she found she had to take a step back, pulling away from Kail and not quite looking at him. Her mind was in free fall, unable to settle on any one thought and certainly not able to answer the question of why the hell she had just done that.
She floundered mentally and words tumbled from her mouth. "I had to at least once ok? In case you fuckin' die." Still she couldn't look at him. At that moment the vampire was incredibly glad her skin was no longer capable of blushing.

At the list of insults he grinned, further, opened his mouth to reply in kind-
And then she kissed him.
For the duration of it all he was perfectly still, shocked into it. When they both drew back, it was at almost exactly the same time. He looked startled, eyes wide and ears pricked straight up. If he had a tail, it would surely be fluffed.
A hand flitted to his mouth for a second, as if it confirm if that had actually just happened. She teased him often with flirtatious touches, just to get a reaction, but that had been different, had felt different.
“Wait.” He said, belatedly. “Wait, what?”
His hand was at the side of her face in the next moment, prompting her to look at him. “You - I thought. You actually -“ he shook his head exhaled hard. Collected himself and tried to speak coherently. “I thought you were always just fuckin’ with me when ya flirted. Ya ain’t doing that now?”
It had certainly felt real. There was a huge amount of pent up emotions that had been released at that contact - mostly disbelief and shock, but perhaps underneath it all there was a lingering care for the vampire that ran deeper than friendship. Or maybe he was just confused - she certainly was. After everything that happened, of course she would be. She wasn’t in her right mind, surely, he argued, trying not to look too giddy, and trying to forget the way her lips had felt against his, expecting at any moment for her to laugh and punch him and tell him it was a joke and that he was an idiot. But the look in her eyes told him she’d do otherwise.

"Wait... Wait what?" Kail's response had the vampire putting a hand on the back of her head, looking ever further away from him. "What?" Her face felt like it was on fire, which she knew was impossible, given she was physically incapable of flushing red, but it still felt that way. Christ, why had she done that? Things had been awkward and tense enough before, now she'd-
His fingers grabbed her jaw. Kitty felt herself tense, almost flinch, her tail curled slightly around her leg. But at the same time, she berated herself, forced herself to look at him because she absolutely was not going to be cowardly and shy about this. It had been a spur of the moment, hasty thing and if it bothered him she'd smooth it over, sweep it under the rug. Even if it felt like her dead heart might start beating again.
So she swallowed a little as he spoke, attempted to force her expression neutral even when all her attention was distracted by the oddly gentle feeling of his hand against her face. "No I ain't- I ain't fuckin' with ya I just-" Her ears flickered, a nervous chuckle trying to creep into her voice that she forced down. Still she kept her eyes on him, refusing to look away. "I just did it alright? It's... ya know, whatever." She shrugged, tried to look noncommittal, but the words didn't quite ring true. "We can just say I'm piss arsing about with ya and took it too far, it's- it's no biggie." Her gaze faltered, just for a moment, down to his lips. A stray thought, that it'd be easy enough to lean forward and kiss him again, flickered across Kitty's mind.
But that was stupid, this was stupid, it was all just her conflict from being with Isaac, being kidnapped and locked up, all the shouting. She was just... being recklessly spontaneous in an attempt to deal with the whole thing. Right? Don't think about it again. She told herself firmly. This is Kail we're talking about, he doesn't want or need this.
To distract herself from the weird thought processes and the heat beneath her skin that just refused to go away, the redhead spoke again. "Gotta say though, you're... less flustered than I thought." A tiny, almost playful grin appeared on her face. "Usually ya run for the hills at even the suggestion of a kiss or flash of me tits."

It did not take much to hear the lie to Kitty’s words, the faked indifference. He could see how sheepish she was, and had she been human he was absolutely sure she would have been blushing, if her posture and averted gaze was anything to go by. He was, in fact, blushing, as his heart thudded jackhammer fast in leeway of the sudden flashbomb of emotions. His lips felt warm where she'd kissed him, and that heat bloomed hot in his chest, prickled across his skin and muddled his thoughts.
He didn't want her to feel like that, like she'd done something wrong, and floundered to fix it. He wanted her to smile again, to laugh like she had before. He leant towards, just a little, giddy with emotion.
“Believe me, I'm flustered as all fuck. But ya ain't gotta-” again, he scrambled for words, stumbling over them in his enthusiasm. Almost subconsciously, the hand holding the side of her face slid to the nook between her neck and shoulder. “I didn't mind. It was - I just - I didn't-”
The wendigo suddenly seemed to make up his mind, his icy eyes locking on her own with a renewed level of intensity. He shook his head, laughed, his eyes softening as he looked at the vampire. What did he have left to lose?
“Ya know what? Fuck it.”
He stepped forwards, quick, before he could change his mind, and kissed her again. He knew it was stupid and that they were both confused, and this only further complicated things, but it had felt so right before - felt so right, now, as he held tight to her and pressed close and desperate into the softness of her lips and skin.

His hand moved across her skin and with it, the tingling heat. She almost leant into the touch, but instead lifted an eyebrow as he floundered with words. What a mess this was turning into. "Whaddya mean fuck i- mmpffh!!" A muffled sound of surprise escaped as all of Kitty's thoughts came to a shuddering halt. The fur of her tail poofed to twice its size, her hands came up and her eyes were so wide they near popped out of her head. For a good few moments, she simply froze.
What was he doing?! This was Kail, he didn't- they shouldn't- Kitty couldn't collect her thoughts, wasn't sure she wanted to. All the surging emotion, the hidden and denied desires, seemed to converge and funnel into that kiss. The want for something, something more, had been there a long time, it was just now there was no voice in her head to counteract it.
She didn't want him to stop. Her eyes closed, her body started to sink into his embrace, knees threatening to buckle.
This didn't feel like with Isaac, but that didn't mean it wasn't nice, that she wasn't enjoying it. Because God damn was she enjoying it, now that her brain had restarted enough for her to register what was happening. The heat beneath her skin was now a raging inferno, searing up her spine and into the back of her skull the closer Kail pressed to her.
There was a sound in the air. A soft, high-pitched whimper that took Kitty a good few seconds to realise was her own voice, escaping from between their locked lips as a quiver wracked her body. The vampire's arms lifted nearly of their own accord; one hand found the back of his head while the other looped over his shoulders behind his neck. As she touched him, a switch seemed to flick.
She stopped questioning, stopped hesitating, let the want surge forth. Her fingers tangled in his hair and she was kissing him back, all tongue and desperate, bottled-up affection. She pressed herself full body against him, tightened her grip as though for fear he might disappear if she let go.

There was a brief moment where Kail was afraid Kitty would pull away from him, feeling how stiff and shocked she was beneath his hands. But then her arms looped around him and she was pressing into him just as fiercely as he was her.
It felt good, unbelievably so. Emotions were welling thick and fast in his chest, and they came so rapidly and densely that he couldn’t decide how he should be feeling. They’d been repressed for so long that they all twisted together into one confusing mass he wasn’t sure he’d ever be able to detangle. They were shoved to the side as he kissed the vampire back. All he wanted was for them to stay like this forever, in this perfect moment where nothing mattered and everything felt so right, from her hands around him to the feel of her lips.
She’d been whining, the sound high and thin and he almost paused, worried, that she was hurting, that she didn’t want it, but her fingers dug into his hair and pressed him closer and he leant into the clumsy embrace just as hungrily as she was. His hand moved back to cup her face, run through her hair. His movements were unpracticed, and his gentleness did not come naturally, and though he meant it, and wanted to be soft with her, it was stiff and took physical effort.
After what felt like forever he pulled back, breaking the fierce kiss with visible regret. The wendigo out a cold, misting chuff of a breath, eyes near glowing as his gaze lingered on her lips before sliding to her eyes. “Soooo…” he tried for a grin, inappropriate as it was for the situation. But he was still giddy from it all, and it crept across his hollowed features even as he tried to be sombre, tried to be serious. There was a shadow of nervousness to the teetering expression. “That sure was something.”
His hand was still on her hip, anchoring him to the situation. Some small part of him was afraid that she’d leave as soon as he let go, and he waited with baited breath for her response. It had been unbelievably foolish of them. It was wrong of him. She was vulnerable and confused and so was he, but he’d never felt like this about anyone else, so what was the point in pretending that he didn’t want her?

When Kail pulled away, the vampire he held seemed to sway in his grip, her eyes momentarily glazed. She looked ruffled; her hair mussed and lips slightly parted, if she could blush no doubt her cheeks would be red as her hair. Kitty seemed slightly breathless, odd, for a creature that no longer needed to breathe. After a moment, she blinked, registering that the wendigo had spoken and chuckling, again oddly breathlessly, before her gaze slid away from his. For the first time, the vampire was bashful, unable to process or handle the torrent of emotion that was rampaging inside of her. "Y-yeah. It, hah- wow." His hand rested on her hip, her arm was still resting on his shoulder, they were still pressed flush against one another's bodies. It was, most certainly, not how Kitty expected this encounter to go. "It was certainly somethin' alright." A small, slightly toothy grin pressed onto her features. One she couldn't help. This whole thing was just utterly absurd. "What made ya go and do that huh? Damn scrawny deer."
After that, Kitty found herself sliding her hand around to rest against the front of the wendigo's shoulder. Her touch traced slowly, as though feeling the contours for the first time, even though she'd grabbed that exact shoulder in any number of their brawls. She wasn't used to feeling nervous, wasn't used to a lot of what the past few months had thrown at her. "This is so fuckin' stupid Kail." She murmured as her forehead came to rest against his chest. But the vampire didn't pull away, instead leaning into Kail with a sigh of breath. "But I don't think I care." The words slipped out, but with them, Kitty hissed through her teeth just a little. Was that fair of her to say? It was true, she didn't care if this was stupid, she didn't give a damn about a lot of things and Kail's arms around her felt too good to move out of right now. But the longer she stayed with him, the more his scent got on her, subtle as it was, the greater the risk too him. Not only that, did she actually like him, the way (if that kiss was anything to go by) he seemed to have grown to like her? Or was this just... just her experimenting, finding out what she did or didn't like now she was free of Max? Christ... was she... using him?
The idea made a cold chill spike up Kitty's spine. This was all so confusing, her emotions and thoughts were such a tangle. She nearly pulled away from him. Her body tensed, hand pressing a little harder against his shoulder.
Yet something- something burned inside her chest, made the vampire's gaze return to Kail's, made her spine straighten and eyes blaze brighter. When had she ever run from anything? She wanted this. The vampire wasn't sure why yet, or what was going to happen, but she knew in this moment she wanted to stay here and screw whatever punishment she'd have to deal with later. So long as she could figure out how to keep Kail from incuring an even greater wrath. For the moment, Kitty's hand took a hold of the wendigo's chin, her fangs flashing at him. "So first ya stake me, then ya chain me up, then think it's a good idea to kiss me and wipe away any sense I had left? Any other bright ideas in that thick skull, sunshine?"

The feel of Kitty's hand on his shoulder was so foreign he almost moved away. Out of instinct, more than anything else, because every other time she'd held onto him it was so she could better angle a punch or drag him off balance into a tackle. The memories almost made him laugh. Who would have guessed her touch would mean anything but a fight? He almost wanted to start a brawl just so everything could feel normal again. But Kitty felt so soft and...small against him, and he wanted to hold her while he still could. His grip tightened fractionally.
“What made ya go and do that huh? Damn scrawny deer.”
There was a moment of silence from the wendigo, as he thought on why exactly he had done it. “I dunno.” he said truthfully, plainly. He had never been one to think things through, and it had felt perfect for the moment. There was nothing but honesty to what he said, simple as it was. “It just felt right.”
The cheeky smile edged across his face once again at her tone, as she took his chin in her fingers. “Not for now. Best idea I've had for a while, though.” he grinned, though its broadness faded almost immediately. He looked sad, almost, strangely vulnerable for someone who rarely showed any softer emotions, and kept them stifled and crushed regardless.
It had been foolish to kiss her. Confusing, for them both. It had been easier when they'd been friends - but what was the point in pretending that was all he felt for her? He wasn't even sure exactly what he felt for her. She was his closest friend, his only packmate...he loved her for her honesty and her fierce spirit and the way she understood. He loved her for everything she was. But at this point, she could die at any moment. And so could he, and for all his cocky blustering, that fact was at the forefront of his mind almost constantly. He didn’t want to die regretful, wishing he'd said something, done something more. That was a cowards approach, a whimpering, pathetic regret to have.
“When are ya gonna go back?..” he fixed her with an sad, open stare. “At least tell me before ya go. Don't just disappear again. Not after...this.” his smile appeared briefly again, and then it faded again. His hand rested against the base of her skull, stroked her hair with an uncertain softness. “...Tell me more about him. What he is. Where he - you - live. Ya know how stubborn I am, if ya ain't gonna tell me, I'll find out myself.” he paused, debating. “Please, Kitty. Ya gotta let me know what's going on.”

Kitty leant her head into his touch with a sound that was nearly a purr. Confusing and dangerous and god damn stupid as this all was, she found herself enjoying that touch. The steady pulse of his heart that she could both feel through his fingertips and hear with a flutter of her ears. Steady and alive. She very much wanted to keep it that way.
But with the questions he was asking her, the way Kail was looking at her like a sad, kicked puppy, the further down this dangerous road the two of them hurtled. Blue, unblinking eyes gazed back at him, still smouldering with inner fire, but no longer blazing with anger and frustration. She sighed, arched an eyebrow. "What, ya askin' so ya can show up and cuss like a stupid bellend on his lawn?" She grinned, but the expression was more exasperated than humoured. "Ya really do have no sense of self preservation." Her tail curled up and around his waist, seeking further contact. "I'll leave tomorrow, I- I want to at least spend the night.. day, whatever."
She didn't want to answer his questions, but Kitty found herself unwilling to lie or evade them; with the exception of where she now lived, she told the wendigo what she could. "As for what he is. Honestly mate, I dunno. Not like anything I've ever come across that's for sure. Looks like a human, talks like a human but he ain't no human, at all. Does this freaky shit with shadow tentacles, like a god damn horror hentai." The vampire's lip curled a little, before she continued, deciding not to tell Kail that there were certain things she... enjoyed about those tendrils. "Personality wise, best way to sum the bloke up is passionate." She held a hand up, a silent gesture for Kail to wait while she explained further. "I don't mean just in the bedroom or some shite, I mean like, everything. If he's angry the world's gunna fuckin' end, if he's reading it's the most emotive speech, that kinda deal. But my fuckin' god is he infuriating when he's sure he's right. There's this smile he gets and a calm, borderline sultry voice, like butter wouldn't fuckin' melt, ugh." For a moment, she glanced away, unsure whether to reveal what she'd thought of next. Eventally, though, she didn't keep it hidden. "But he can be... weirdly sweet too. Gentle, likes to teach me things, have odd, friendly debates. I dunno, bloody confusing it's-"
Very suddenly, Kitty stopped talking and let out a short laugh, giving the wendigo's shoulder a tiny punch. "Christ, ya really have confused things ya bloody deer. Here we are talkin' about 'the other guy' while ya stroke my hair like you're seein' me for the first time. God why am I even tellin' ya these things? Why'd ya have to ask about him?"" The vampire rolled her eyes, made a small 'tch' sound under her breath. "We're both a couple of idiots." Then, a real smile curled onto her features, toothy and more than a little teasing. "What's with the gentle touch anyway, worried ya might break me all of a sudden? Or have I made ya soft?"

“I’m stupid, but I ain't that stupid.” Kail laughed a little, still stroking her hair and holding her against him. His first impulse had been to storm up to this Isaac and go for it, but he knew that was stupid and suicidal. Not that he'd ever let Kitty know he'd even considered it. She was in enough of a mood about him already. His laughter faded at her next words and his expression turned to something more somber and slightly disappointed. He had expected as much, but still.
“Okay.” was all he said, his grip tightening fractionally, protectively. Staying the night wasn't nearly long enough, and he curled his arm around her waist as her tail encircled his.
Once again, his expression changed as the vampire talked. A range of emotions flickered over his face - anger and disgust and, for a second, something that might have been jealousy - but eventually he settled on a tight, guarded expression, his ears flat and his lips pressed into a thin line. He almost butted in on several occasions, outraged, but bit his tongue when Kitty held up a hand, and listened. He filed everything away - the shadows and the tentacles and the wild temper. It would be important. Every little detail counted.
“Well, I was hoping more for his species and weaknesses, not the godamn way he smiles and talks.” he nudged her playfully, though his smile did not quite reach his eyes. Her description of him had been frightening, to say the least, because she was so clearly in love with the guy. It both sickened and angered him to think of what he must have done to her to get her to this point. It wasn't natural to fall in love with someone who had captured and tortured her - no matter how nice he was, or how passionate, or how gentle he could choose to be.
He wanted to stay angry. But he couldn’t help but to return Kittys wide, toothy smile, and he nudged her a little harder, a little more playful? with his shoulder.
“Pfft, ya wish! It almost sounds like ya want me to beat ya up, ya know. Did ya miss having me win all our fights, huh?” The whole situation was briefly forgotten by the wendigo as he eyed Kitty, grinning and expectant. The aggresive, teasing banter was something familiar and yet another thing he he had sorely missed about her. "The only thing I'm worried about breaking is ya pride, sweetheart." He winked at the vampire, already egging her on. They both needed a good friendly brawl to get things going, he decided.

Kitty rolled her eyes and snorted, barging him with her hip as he nudged her. "Yeah well, shoulda been more specific then knob'ead. But, like I said, haven't a clue what the hell he is. Ain't a vampire like he claims to others though, that's for fuckin' sure." She flashed her fangs in a brief display. "I would know." She'd said too much about what Isaac was like, Kitty could tell that already. Kail didn't exactly have the best poker face, the way his ears had fallen flat and anger had flitted across his facial features told her that much. But she couldn't exactly take the words back and she wasn't about to lie. They would both just have to deal with it.
Speaking of which, her companion's method of dealing with the situation seemed to be attempts to incite her into a brawl. The vampire let out a bark of laughter, "Win all our fights? Ya 'avin' a laugh mate! Too many hits to the head, fucked ya memory up I reckon." She leant towards him, pushing up onto her tiptoes to gain what extra height that she could. Before long Kitty's face was right in front of the wendigo's own, her lips brushing his. Her voice seeped out from between her lips as nary more than a whisper, low and as sultry as it was dangerous. "I'll fuckin' 'ave ya." Kitty moved in a blur of explosive speed, one hand grabbed his where it lay draped across her waist. She sidestepped, brought his arm around, tried to wrench it up and behind Kail's back. She had missed this. No-one else really got it in the same way he did - how someone could connect so strongly with a person by way of a good bit of physical aggression. For just a little while, she could forget the situation they were in. Let it all fade away in the tide of battle lust as her brain became filled with only thoughts of how to act, fight, defend. How to win. There was no room for anything else in the heat of such a moment.
"Not gotten rusty while I've been gone, have ya sunshine?"
