It was a rather ravenous stormy night that befell apon the city of Wathias. the winds tore through the city wreaking hell apon those still on the road, the rain pouring sideways, rendering the driving visibility to a pitiful 3 feet at most. Even less so for older cars. It did not seem as though the night could become worse until the slip of hand on the road. . . slick as oil where residual amounts rose to act as lubricant for the asphalt surface. Jedidiah: Due to the being in the mountains, the trees buffered the clinic and house from the winds and rains, making it seem rather tamed then it truly was. . . the cable was finally installed but no signal was coming in- rendering the outlet rather useless for the tv, haoever there was the FM radio that played in the background. . . Jedidiah was cooking some soup for supper for the most part but kept an ear on the radio playing on one of the Local news networks. . . . he grimaced in thought. . . he didn really need the radio to imagine hao bad the weather was. . .he could feel it in his stumps. . .they throbbed and ached in pain. . .his stomach churning from the pain reverberating through his body. . . making supper seem nauseating. . . though, he couldn let Ash go hungry. . . . just because he wasnt feeling well doesnt mean he should make the lad suffer like he was. . . if anything, he hid it behind a mask, the pain and nausea. . . Ash shouldn't have to worry about things like this. though with conditions like the ones that were being mentioned on the radio there was bound to be injuries. . . he just hopes he was dead wrong. then the landline rang. . he briskly walked over to answer- the storm having him in pain and on edge. . . "Dr. Gurulf speaking. " he answered. quietly listening to the other end. . .proved his hopes childish and optimistic. "hao many were involved? " he asked. his expression seemed to grow grim. . . " i can be in the clinic in 5 minutes. " he continued. a few hums later he hung up with a brief goodbye. hes. . . going to need as many hands as he can grab. . . . he walked over to the stove and turn the heat off before grabbing his coat. . . hesitating before turning to ash, grabbing another coat. . . . "Ash? theres been an emergency. you dont have to come if you dont want to, but we are going to need all the help we can get at the clinic. " he explained. he would be able to play nurse abit while they tend to the injured coming into the clinic. though, another set of hands would help them greatly in this situation.

Ash had his own worries lately, although he had noticed Jedidiah's discomfort. He didn't entirely understand it, however - the metal limbs were odd, but he hadn't yet realized they weren't natural, that they were replacements for lost limbs.
The storm outside was a concern - the dark skies, the wind and rain, the flashes of lightning; he wouldn't be able to fly in that, not without risking serious injury. It made him anxious, and though he wore a human shape, he felt as if all his scales were standing on end. While Jedi cooked, Ash reclined on the other's almost-comically-large couch, slowly paging through one of the simply written books that Jedi had been teaching him with. It was difficult to focus on the large written words - his head buzzed with his sense of the storm outside, with the staticky words from the talking-box in the kitchen. He felt a bit like his head was full of fluff, and he knew that meant he needed to eat something even if he didn't feel especially hungry.
He had forced himself to eat what Jedi cooked for him, but still he hadn't been eating as well as he should have the past few days. The storm didn't help, as it prevented him from hunting, but even without it he knew he wasn't in the sort of shape he would have been in, if he were still at the colony. At first, he'd had hope that he might find others of his kind here, but the longer time went on and the more similar-but-not-the-same creatures he met, the more he realized he was alone here. And while he had managed to ignore it at first, the more time passed the more he felt his lack of connection to others. It wasn't until he lacked it that he realized he had been aware of the colony, that its presence had been a comfort in the back of his mind all his life until now...
He took a deep breath, trying to focus more clearly on the words on the page, trying to remember what the scratches on the page stood for, then sounding them out in his head and trying to place meaning upon the word that formed. A sudden harsh jangling noise broke his focus and he startled, pushing himself up to peer in the direction of the noise. It had come from a different sort of talking-box, designed for distance communication - Jedidiah was speaking low into it, his posture tense, his cooking forgotten.
Ash found the tension radiating from the other drawing his own muscles taut, and he pushed himself up to sit, closing the book and setting it on the low table in front of the couch. He waited until Jedi put the phone down, turned off the stove, and moved to grab his coat - then Ash stood and stepped away from the couch.
"Doctor Jeddy?" When the man acknowledged him and explained, he blinked slowly. "A emergency... I go and help. Is far? Not good weather outside..." He frowned, catching his lip in his teeth a moment. The walk to the clinic wasn't too bad, but in this weather... And then, an emergency might mean having to rescue someone, and then bring them back to the clinic... "Can't fly outside. Too much wind. Is safe to walk?"

Jedidiah:
"No, we will just be headed towards the clinic. " he replied, handing Ash the coat he had in hand, seeing that his own was on him already. "And no, please dont fly. That's not a good idea with the storm out. It will be safe to walk since the trees will buffer most of the winds. " he added.
Whenever they began to head out. He locked the door behind them before walking ahead towards the clinic- more or less to buffer the winds further from ash. . .
Even with the trees buffering the winds, if felt like the winds were a few notches from jostling them around . . . . He kept an arm near ash incase he needed to grab his arm. . . "Stay close, Ash. " he stated. Before starting onward.
With careful footing, they will be able to make it; should the mind the water and the winds.
The clinic itself was bustling with the other two doctors as well as the nurses. . . They were waiting for the ambulances that were radioed to be headed in their direction to come on over. . . The hospital was unable to take the extra load, and had to take the most serious of the victims, but the others were being rushed into other clinics, even other hospitals- his clinic expecting the worse, hoping for the best.

"Can't fly," Ash repeated, agreeing with a bob of his head. He reached for the coat that was offered to him, puling it on over his own lighter clothing. The coat was big on him, and it was a little awkward for him to wear - heavier than his usual garments - but he didn't think it would slow him down. "Should be careful. Trees... break and fall down."
Ash didn't need much urging to stay close to Jeddy once they were outside. Even under the trees, the wind was strong and the rain poured down wherever it could, flattening down leaves to turn the ground beneath to mud. If not for the trees, there would likely be a serious risk of mudslides.
It felt like it took much longer to reach the clinic than usual, but Ash trudged along, leaning into Jedidiah's side now and then to take shelter from the wind. Normally Ash would have smelled and heard the bustle of the clinic well before they arrived, but with the sound of the storm filling his ears and the scent of mud and water in his nose, he wasn't aware of the chaos of activity until they were nearly upon it.
Ash flinched into Jeddy's side as a nurse rushed to quickly inform him of the situation. She spoke so quickly, while Ash could pick up on her urgency, he couldn't actually understand what was said. The nurse was off again almost as quickly, back to tend to the injured. Still, even if she had talked too quickly for him, Ash was sure Jeddy would tell him how best to help...

Jedidiah:
he nodded, before waving for Ash to follow him. " Ash, im going to need you to help me with this one. . ." he urged. the room was chaos. . . there was a child screaming bloody murder for her mother and father, all the while they were in a different room. . . she, herself, seemed to have sustained a rather serious injury. . . from the look of it, a rib or two seemed to have been broken all the while her arm on the same side as the ribs were also broken. . . .
she. . . did not seem human at all. . . " hey, sweetie, are you alright? " he tried, " i want . . my mommey. . wheres dad-dy?!" she cried. "their in the other room being helped, i need you to calm down. . ." the little girl suddenly screamed scared and angrily as claws began to erect from her hands. he and the other nurses carefully held her down and had to sedate her as she started to fight back. . . . she was going to kill herself as violently as she was fighting back. . . "Ash, i need you to stay with her. " he informed.
clearly there were non humans intermixed with humans. . . and as many as there were, he was going to need help from the that one place where the police linked him to on Jacob's case. . . . .
so he dialed for the number, he wasnt sure if they had a medical wing, little alone, medical staff. . . though, he was going to need help from them. . . granted, with the accident, the clinics and hospitals were possibly setting the medical field ablaze. . .

Ash nodded quickly at Jeddy's request for help, following close behind the larger man. Once they were in the clinic, the chaos inside was louder than the storm outside, and he flinched closer to Jedi, a little overwhelmed. Jedi lead him to a room where a screaming child was seated, her arm bent at an unnatural angle. He recognized the words she was screaming, the words for direct parental figures.
Ash hovered behind Jedi as the man bent to speak to the girl, listening. When the girl lunged at Jedi and was restrained, Ash unconsciously took a step forward and shifted, taking the oversized coat with him as he blurred into his scaled form. The nurses already had a handle on the girl, and were using the needles with medicine-stuff in them to make her calm. Ash hesitated, then at Jedi's direction he nodded again and stepped forward to kneel infront of the girl, his wings tucked close and hopefully out of the way. He smiled at her without showing his teeth and carefully took one of her clawed hands in his own - the not-bent one. His scales should protect him if she lashed out again - at least, he hoped they would.
"I stay," he glanced back at Jedi, nodding again, then turned his attention back to the girl, his deep voice making his english sound even more primitive. "Safe here. Soon will return you to mommy and daddy. Need to fix first." He tilted his head slightly, motioning with his chin toward her arm. "Then return you. Very soon."

the girl groggily glanced up at the dragonic being, somewhat calmed that he wasnt human, but at the same time, she still wanted to see her parents. . . she weakly grasped onto his hand, still trying to ask where her parents were. . . she seemed to whimper faintly nao that the pain was slowly seeping into play. . . fear seemed to override anger. . .before she tried to flop her head towards where Ash arm was, causing her arm to shift in an awkward and painful manner. . . . . .when Jedidiah returned, he hurried over, gently patting ash on the back. seeming to have grabbed the same glasses as prior when he worked on Jacob. he placed the glasses on and turned them on to get a view of the state of her arm and ribs. . .along with trying to see what else might of been damaged.
Jedidiah:
alright, good, ash is trying to calm the patient down. surgery room is occupied at the moment with another patient who was in a much worse state the the girl. . . . .assuming they can save him, the doctor inside is currently trying to save whatever they can save. . . from the sound of it, he was another motorcyclist that was caught in the pile up. . . . . . right nao, they need to get her into surgery if they want to keep her condition from deteriorating. "alright, we need to move her into one of the exam rooms, is there a sterile field in exam room 4?" he asked, as he examined the child "haay, sweetie, hao are you doing? you doing ok? where does it hurt?" he asked her in a gentle tone all the while, checking for signs and indicators to her state. " yes, doctor. " "alright, we will need to prep for surgery. Ash, im going to need you to shift back to avoid or stay away from contamination. " he explained.
"Dr. Helsing, we need you over here!" one of the nurses called from one of the patient corridors. a dark haired woman rushed past the group into the patient corridor, where along the corridors, there was stretchers of quite a few patients lined against the walls. . . . thank God one of them wasnt doing surgery, they at least one of them running about. "lets go." he urged. with ease, he started to lead the stretcher with the little girl on it. . the little girl seemed to grip tighter onto Ash's hand, while one of the nurses were trying to comfort her with words.

Ash wasn't sure how much of what he said that she understood. He was sure that he said the words properly, but the girl's expression was glassy-eyed and blank, her eyelids heavy. Still, she leaned toward him and clutched at his hand, making small noises. Ash shifted slightly, moving to support her as she nearly flopped out of her chair and onto him, his wings lifting slightly and fanning forward in a protective manner.
When Jedidiah returned, his crest lifted slightly, then smoothed as he glanced back at the big man. He was wearing the eye-mask again -'glasses' because they were made of glass - although Ash wasn't entirely certain what they were for. He would have to ask later. He listened as Jedi spoke to the girl and seemed to examine her twisted arm and her chest.
When Jedi requested he shift back, Ash found himself hesitating, then slowly nodding. He didn't move to do as asked immediately, as the little girl was still holding onto his hand. He gently squeezed her fingers, then looked to her to explain: "I change back. Same me. Stay here."
Then he carefully took his hand from hers and moved back, then stood. His body blurred as he stood, shrinking down into the human-shape, still wearing its oversized and dripping coat. He would need to take that off, if he was going to follow. He frowned slightly, then awkwardly shrugged out of the coat and set it down carefully out of the way, then moved to follow Jedi and the stretcher. He jogged to catch up, then took the girl's hand again in both of his, smiling down at her. "We fix it. Make you better."

Jedidiah:
the nurses were first to head into the prep room, the little girl groggily kept her eyes locked onto where Ash was. . . .as if she was afraid he was going to disappear too. Jedidiah continued to look over her body for any other injuries, only to confirm that her ribs and arm were the only areas were breakage was. haoever, due to hao her ribs were broken, they will need to go in and use surgical plating and screws to secure her ribs in place. . . otherwise one of them might puncture her lung. . . her arm, on the other hand, was more or less a much simpler task. . .a simple break yet the bone doesn't seem to have completely slipped away from alignment.
he moved and grabbed some supplies before starting an IV on the child's arm that was not broken. securing the hub to the arm where he had inserted the butterfly needle to her vein. . .taking some blood samples, before hooking tubing up to an saline bag to avoid dehydration. . .all the while, explaining to Ash what he was doing carefully. . . he labeled the vials of blood with the date, time, name of patient, birth date, so when the nurses returned after prepping for surgery, he asked for one of the nurses to run the blood samples to the Lab while the other two grabbed onto the saline bag and began to push the little girl away. . . . the little girl seemed scared that she was being separated, haoever, she also seemed to start to become unconscious slowly as one of the nurses anesthetized her carefully.
"alright, ash, our turn. we will need to hurry. " he stated, gently ushering the lad towards the prep room where they could wash their hands and dress in scrubs. . .

Ash walked alongside the stretcher, holding the girls hand all the while. He spoke soothingly to her, smiling, offering soft words in his own tongue when he ran out of things to say in english. When Jedi put a needle into her arm, he shifted aside slightly to make room for the big man, glancing aside at what Jedi was doing then turning to the girl and murmuring: "Close hand, yes, like that. Don't look. Will be fine."
He glanced aside now and then to note what Jedi was doing as the man explained, but his gaze kept drifting back to the girl's face, smiling comfortingly at her. He could look at it, but she shouldn't - she might become nervous and scared, and he didn't want that.
When the nurses came to take her into the other room, Ash made a soft uncertain noise, but he allowed them to take her and reluctantly released her hand. Her eyelids had drooped further, and it looked as though she was struggling to stay awake. "We fix, you rest," he murmured in parting, then stepped away to follow Jedi into the prep room.
The Doctor had had him do this before, albeit not in such a stressful situation. Still, he washed his hands and forearms quickly, then changed into the the healer-clothes. He wasn't entirely sure what made these clothes better for healing - he felt no magic to them - but he supposed they were clean and dry, and if they were torn or dirtied, at least they seemed easily replaceable.
"We go?" Ash was ready fairly quickly, and eager to be back. He didn't want the child to be alone...

Jedidiah:
he too, washed his hands and removed his coat. . . curious where Ash's coat went but shrugged it since his name was stitched into the back of the inside collar. . . as well as what he has done for his own coats. (he removed his own name and placed Ash's name in the coat he had so he had a coat for when hes cold). . it was a well oversized coat, someone would be unable to mistake it for anyone else's coat but for his own.
when ash asked if they go, he nodded. " yes, lets go." he replied, before giving him a surgical mask, putting one on as well and pushing the door open. . . leading the lad out. . . with a brisk walk down the corridor, he led him to the exam room where the child was whisked away. a spare heart monitor along with an O2 ventilator the nurses had their masks on in addition to Jedidiah.
he waited for Ash to put his mask on and step into the room, before he closed the door. "alright, is she ready for the surgery? "
"yes, doctor. " one of the nurses replied.
one of the nurses started to verbally state the levels of O2, breathing rate, heart rate, various chemicals that the body makes/needs to function properly, minerals such as Sodium, the charge, before he nodded and informed them that he will begin. he checked the area of the body where the ribs broke to make sure he was cutting into the correct side of the child, before carefully making the incision.
on the side table, there were rib plating, screws, the drill, gauze, various clamps, scalpels, and other tools, as well as sutures and two different types of thread, bio-thread and normal medical thread. with this, there was abit of a time table, seeing there were more patients outside. . .but he cant rush this-or he might do more harm then good to the child. . . .

Ash had abandoned the coat near the entryway, not wanting to drip over everything. Later, he meant to retrieve it - assuming it hadn't been moved in the meantime. If Jedi asked him about it, he would mention where he had left it.
Ash wrinkled his nose slightly as he was handed the mask, but he inclined his head in thanks all the same and then put the uncomfortable garment on with the straps over his ears. His nose filled with the sterile scent of the mask, leaving him scent-blind. Once it was in place, he moved to follow Jedidiah back into the room with the child.
He hesitated a moment behind Jedi, taking in the scene, then tentatively he made his way to the girl's side. She was unconscious now, wearing a plastic breathing-mask of her own. The urge to take her hand again swelled in his chest, but he pushed it down for now. It would be more a comfort to himself than any real help, as the girl wouldn't be aware of it. He turned his attention to Jedi, and stepped back and out of the way until he knew how to help.

Outside the door of their prep room, a harsh knock on the door. It was loud enough that it sounded like it was made with something other than a fist. There was a heavy pause, then someone spoke through the door;
“I am responding to the back-up request. This is the correct place, yes?”
The voice was English accented and sounded slightly irritated. Who knew if it was their nature, or perhaps this person had knocked at the wrong door first. Either way, they waited for a response.

Jedidiah:
his ear twitched at the harsh sound of knocking, he glanced up at one of the nurses before the three of them glanced at the door. . . he had just started making the incision, so he couldn move. . . though this was perhaps the one responding to his request for aid not too long ago. . . he checked the incision, seeing it was barely deep enough for stitches for a child. before setting the tool down on the tray and walking over towards the door. . . opening it before glancing around downwards abit to see whom might be knocking on the door adjacent to the one they were inside of.
"Hello, I'm Dr. Gurulf. Are you from the Medical Wing at WDSA? " he asked.
the corridors the man would of had to of passed to reach here were again, chaotic with Dr. Helsing running around checking on patients with minor injuries, paitents on stretcher lining one of the walls that had no doors as to not obstruct traffic (though given the scale of the clinic, this wouldn do much to obstruct traffic in the first place. ) sadly, there wasnt much time for idle chat. . he knew this.
"ive just began surgery on one of the patients that isnt exactly normal. " he summarized. "if you will please change into a set of scrubs, the prep room is there, there are extra sets of scrubs, and shes not the only one. " he continued. there was a level of urgency? in his voice. he was on a clock and so were the patients.

Ash startled a little at the sharp knock on the door, his head snapping to the side to look back at it over his shoulder. He took a hesitant step back, then turned to face the door, looking up at Jedi, then to the nurses, then to the door - not sure what he should do. Should he go answer it, since he wasn't busy yet? But what if the person at the door wasn't supposed to be here...
He took a tentative step toward the door, but Jedi's had already turned and strode in a few long steps to the door. Ash stopped in his tracks, fidgeted with one of his gloves, and watched the exchange in the doorway a few moments before turning his attention back to the girl. The position of her arm was still unnatural-looking, and the incision in her side only showed him how badly damaged the bones of her ribs were. He wished briefly that he was a real healer, gifted with magic, but that wasn't the caste he had been born into and the thought faded quickly from his mind. He would help how he could.
"Doktor Jedi...? We fix her? What I can do?" His voice was low and soft, uncertain - he didn't want to interrupt Jedi's discussion with the newcomer, but he worried about the child...
