Participants: Croatoan, Lunia, Tenor Location: The Void Time of Day: Unknown Current Weather: Mildly Cloudy, Chilly
Prompt: The group started to wake, their heads and bodies hurting to varying levels. Where were they? What is this place? Whole rock formations floating among the starry sky, loosely tied together by wild, thorny vines. Vibrant fog looms all around the group. No animals could be heard besides the distant wails of some unknown beast. This place was beyond creepy. Each individual lay around a pool of liquid that reflected the galaxies above. Do you choose to work together or against each other?

A deep gravelly groan vibrated in his chest. Croatoan's massive shoulders slowly inching around, his whole body felt like someone hit his ass with a dump truck. Lifting himself off his stomach, his neck cracked as it moved taking in the new surroundings. He didn't remember how he got here. It just felt blank. The last thing the gruff man could recall was drifting off to sleep in his recliner. Clearly, this isn't where he fell asleep.
His eyes widened with fear upon the realization he was up a mighty tree, delicately hanging from a sturdy branch. "Shi--" with a loud thud he came tumbling down, losing his balance. "The hell was I up a damn tree for?" An enormous paw rubbing his head. If he wasn't already in enough pain this would definitely help. Agitation already clear on his features, menacing eyes loomed around. Despite the aching, his old bones stood then meandered over to the glowing pool, he watched his own reflection. He was still the same old gruff man he always was.

Lunia and Tenor
The loud thud caused the two other individuals to stir. Bodies protesting as they tried to get up and move about as they would normally but something and everything was wrong. They were not where they remembered being, home. As Lunia woke, she squinted. Eyes adjusting to the world around her and to a sort of familiar shape in the distance and to another who seemed to be the cause of the stir. As she rose on awkward feet, she could tell in the distance she knew exactly who that man was that seemed so familiar.
"Tiv!" She hissed, running up and kicking him not hard but with enough force to roll the body upright and show that damned face. "Tiv!!..TIV!!!"
Tenor stirred at the feeling of being kicked in his side, his eyes widened as he saw Lunia. She jumped ontop of him and began to shake him. Trying to claw into him and causing a ruckus.
"Lunia! By the damn gods, GET OFF"
"Tiv! Iv Levkur!"
"Yeah yeah, happy to see you too." His legs curled in and he shoved her off him, giving him enough time to rise and stop her with his hand. Holding her in place when she came back at him. She looked like a toddler in comparison as he held her head in place as she tried to scratch him, screaming insults in various Lunarian, Skalaian and even some english slang? From his height he was able to look around the world. Gathering that he both A. Had no idea where he was and B. Lunia managed to be here and C....
He noticed a man in the distance, on the ground and dragged Lunia with him, over to the man. "You good? Never mind...That's a dumb question." He said remarking the tree.

Fuck this. This place. That tree. That damn grass. Everything.
Cro already having his fill of this world. Then two new faces appeared before him, he turned, not looking too happy. "No shit," Croatoan grumbled in response. Slightly rolling his teal eyes. "Thanks for asking." The cursed man eyed the other two. They didn't seem dangerous. At least not so dangerous he couldn't handle it. They were certainly an odd-looking pair with all the fins, scales, and that childish behavior. What on earth was wrong with the little one? "Kid got rabies or something?" A paw gestured towards her.
The winds blew roughly now, a deep cold looming not too far off, pale grass wisping away in the gusts. They needed to find shelter. And being honest, Croatoan needed a smoke break after these two showed up. Ugh, why did his curse force him to be nice. Why not mean? He could do mean. Instead, it would grow if he ignored these people in need. Also with the place they were in, Croatoan freshly noticing fish creatures silently swimming in the air, he couldn't possibly just walk off. This world reminded him of the first time he ever smoked weed, not good.
"Follow me unless you want to freeze." His massive form already turned, walking off to find coverage. He didn't look over his shoulder for the next part. "Croatoan. Officer Croatoan."

The taller merfolk glanced at Lunia who was still hissing and trying to claw his eyes out, clearly she was still the same as ever and the only difference was that she learned to be aggressive. Made a lot of sense, he did kill her. "She's fine, just a bit of a tantrum." He explained as she continued to squirm in his grip.
The cool wind made Tenor, grip the smaller Merfolk close to him and she bit his arm. He hissed and kept her in place. "It's cold, are you brainless?"
Tenor nodded at the man. "I'll follow, and drag her. Don't worry about my arm."
As the two merfolk followed, Tenor caught the name and seemed to furrow his lack of eyebrows. Had he heard that name at the office. "Officer Croatoan? I believe I've processed some files of yours down in the office. I doubt you'll know me though. Since I'm a lowly bronze." As they walked he eventually introduced himself. "Tenor. This is Lunia."

Croatoan stopped dead in place, halting a paw back signalling the other two to do the same. Looking over his arm, he lifted a single finger to his silent lips. His sharp ears twitched, listening intently. Feline pupils turned to thin slits in his glowing orbs. One could barely hear his breath, and it seemed the only noises to be heard were the leaves tussled by the wind. Still. The man stood unmoving.
Suddenly, a blur of black flew over the group. Its aim was too high lucky for them. The creature now stood exposed. It was like a jet black panther but a lot bigger, no eyes to be seen, antenna framed its lower jaw to the neck, and the insides of its toothy maw glowed a deep blue. Even it's drool kept the same cool hues. The creature roared once more and beat a bladed tail into the dirt. Clearly a threat. It lowered, readying for another pounce.
Croatoan's features did not move. This was something he was used to. The worse thing someone could do was show fear, he knew, but did the others know? Crap.
The feline jolted towards the smallest of the group, easy prey was it thinking? With a heavy start, Croatoan tackled the beast with his shoulder, using all of his mass to knock it over. Dazing the beast for only a moment. Everything was happening so fast. Too fast for words. Hopefully, Tenor and Lunia know how to fight or run.

As the two stopped, Tenor was clearly listening in while Lunia scanned. This was probably going to be the only time the two would ever work together. As they scanned, the woosh of something from above made the other two crouch down, a position typical of hunters. Tenor didn't move but he could feel in his hand the slight shake of the smaller merfolk, knowing full well she never really hunted for real before and while traveling with her band it was likely she was more of a defensive killer. This posed a problem to all of them.
Once Croatoan dazed the beast it for a moment, Tenor shoved Lunia to run off ahead. The younger merfolk was clearly not up for that idea but did so anyways, aware of the need to keep going and let the more experienced people of the group to kill. She could fight but had little to no confidence in herself and could probably hunt Tenor down better than she could a giant black furry thing. As Tenor looked at Croa he sort of nodded, lunged forward at the beast only to miss trying to claw or punch it. Whatever came first. Shit.

The great cat roars sounded like thunder. It shook out of the daze, regaining itself after Croatoan's tackle, but another lunged for it. The cobalt one attempted an attack but missed. The predator took this chance to rip a chunk out of--but it's piercing fangs never met flesh. It violently snapped, teeth clapping with each attempt to grab, only to miss every time. Blue bits of spittle sprayed in their almost victim's face they were so close.
Yet something held the beast back.
Croatoan, still hunkered in the dirt after the first tackle, tightly clenched onto the black cat's tail. Bladed end slightly cutting into the man's calloused paw pad. He winced from the burning pain but endured. His other claws dug into the earth for extra grip. It was the best he could manage in this position.

As Tenor missed he watched as this cat tried to get at him, he was too uncomfortably close and it made him worry a lot more about his positioning. He didn't know how far Lunia got but he hoped she was somewhat safe. As the cat's spittle came at him he was bracing for the worst only to find that Croatoan was preventing the beast from moving. Tenor tried again to hit at the beast but miss, and once again was rolling out of the way on his awkward body as he attempted to miss.
In the distance, Lunia got a good ways away before she looked back, watching the two struggle. She had to do something both were not in a good position and only she had the sort of advantage. While she didn't like the idea of Tenor being around, she didn't want anyone to die here. Her body got ready, gills opening as she crouched down into a sprint position and bolted back the way she came. Her feet crunched against the hard soil and once she was close enough, leaped onto the beast and bit into it, jaws locking in and sharp nails digging into the flesh. She squirmed on it for a bit as she tore into the flesh, inhuman sounds coming from somewhere in her tiny body.
Tenor just watched her, wide eyed at the smaller merfolk dig into the beast. A little shocked to say the least.

It almost appeared in slow motion to Croatoan. Lunia, with all her tiny might, found the courage to assault the creature. He stared. Impressed? Shocked? No, infuriated. He snorted, the chilly air fogged his breath making him appear like an enraged bull. And that he was. Why did people feel the need to literally throw themselves into danger? There was no time to think about it. It soured his mood.
Jaguar-like howls wildly filled the air. That little merfolk must have some nasty sharp teeth if the animal's screeches were anything to go on. It bucked and yowled in agony.
The officer quickly picked himself thanks to Lunia's distraction. Tail still firmly grasped, he violently yanked the beast. However, a sickly thud echoed. One thing he didn't count on was for its tail to completely detach. Shit. Croatoan's brow furrowed. Such a rookie mistake. Now he had no control over the animal and someone was in danger because of it, double shit. The same toned ultramarine fluid burst from where a tail once was. The man chucked the unattached bladed appendage away, it stabbed into the ground like a hot knife in butter close to Tenor, weapons were never the old man's style. "Tenor. Don't miss again." Croatoan sternly commanded, pointing to the weapon, hinting for him to take it. All while barking commands, his focus never breaking from their opponent.
A glow slowly grew from the cat's mouth and bloody stump. The fluid almost seemed to be becoming solid. Was it regenerating a new tail? It didn't get too far as if something stopped the process. Strange.
With Lunia still on it's back and tail freed from Croatoan, it began to roll. Attempting to squash out the unwanted rider.

Eyes in the Darkness x | x
It screamed. Unlike anything in their world. Its cries were ungodly. Truly, pitiful. Someone watched this whole ordeal going down, gazing into a crystal clear pool. A deep chuckle quaked from the darkness. Only the reflective waters shined within a black room but amber eyes shined back. The time to speak was not yet here. So he waited. They still needed to prove themselves.

Ten had reached for the new weapon, testing the blade as he shifted it around in his hands. It was lighter than his own daggers at home which was unusual. He prayed to the goddess that he wouldn't miss this time around.
"No promises, Sir." A toothy grin tugged at his lips.
He once again moved to try and slice the weapon into the beast, missing it completely as he stumbled to catch his step. Only to yell in shock, this was getting ridiculous and he didn't like that his performance wasn't at it's peak right now. He figured it was likely from being stiff but even so, he was having to compare to Lunia who by default was a small runt.
"Can't you do anything?!" The small merfolk shrieked, as she was starting to struggle to get a good grip on the fur lining the beast.
"You kicked me, that's not helpful either." He stated, leaning on one leg a bit.
"Well make yourself helpful!" She shrieked as she started to go down only to be crushed by the weight of the beast.
"I'm useless remember, fend for yourself if you're miss good at all trades." There was a hint of sarcasm in the tone he gave her.
She looked at Croatoan, wide eyed and in disbelief. "Kill him for me if I'm dead."
Tenor simply gave a roll of the eyes at that sort of wish she gave the other man.
