Charlotte folded her arms, and looked around the cabin, obviously unimpressed.
"Kail, I am gonna start 'but I don't wanna eat people'," She mimicked his mimicking and made it even more childish, " I don't want to eat people. I don't want the WDSA on my back, and if I eat some people I'm gonna get even more hungry for regular humans. I don't want to have to make sure I don't eat my mom or dad even more than I'm doing already."
She eyed the dirty floor of the cabin.
"And I don't want to have to live alone in the woods like you're doing."
"Humans are delicious," Hunt offered, "Not alone, you can live here. Hunt with us."
The cub seemed to think Charlotte was being silly, and exchanged a look with Kail.
"You should try a little killing."

“Char! Don’t be fucking lame.”
Kail collapsed dramatically onto the couch, dragging his hands down his face as he let out a groan.
“If you starve yourself, you’ll get psycho-hungry and end up eating ya mom anyway. I got human in the back. You can try it. They’re already dead.”
Kail dropped his hands, looking genuinely confused at her criticism. He’d cleaned up by dumping the mess from the table behind the couch where you couldn’t see it. And scrubbed out some of the floor bloodstains. It was practically spotless.
“Excuse you, princess. And I don’t live alone, I got Hunt.” Kail corrected smugly, stretching his arms out to rest them on the back of the couch. He locked eyes with the manticore, nodding in agreement.
“That’s real polite of you, Hunt. Right as always.” He looked expectantly back to Charlotte. “Ya can sleep in the doghouse outside and everything.”
He stuck out his tongue, scrunching his nose.

"I'm not lame, I'm smart. I'm eating a lot of food. I have stuff I wanna do, I don't need people on my back for no extra reason. Shah doesn't eat people and she's doing just fine."
Charlotte considered eating the human, she really did. They were already dead, it wasn't like she was doing anything too different than eating a cow or chicken, however... Who was to say that once she tasted the flesh of a human her appetite for it wouldn't grow or increase. Sh e idn't want it to get harder than it was.
"I think I'll pass, much as I love Hunt. Listen, I'm gonna get real good at fighting, maybe we can fight a hunter, but I don't want to mess anything upstairs up," Charlotte declared, tapping her head.

“Fine, suit yaself.” Kail relented, throwing his hands up and slumping back against the sofa. “More for me and Hunt.”
He crossed his arms across his chest, staring hard at Charlotte.
“If we fight a Hunter, we’re fighting to kill, you know."
He hesitated, uncrossing his arms.
“Not tryna be tough or nothing, but. They’ll be tryna kill ya so if they want that more than you do, they’re gonna win.”
Kail went to say something else, and then paused abruptly, ears pricking and eyes flicking to the door.
Outside, an unnatural hush had fallen over the clearing. There was the faint sound of padding footsteps, and an almost imperceptible rustle of undergrowth.

Charlotte considered, looking at her black nails and scratching at the polish. Could she kill? Death wasn't the end, wasn't really a thing. It would be here, of course, but hunters were bad people. They killed supers, and that meant her now. Besides. IF you were a hunter, wasn't that what you were signing up for? Fighting supers? They wouldn't have any mercy. Maybe, when they woke up in the next dimension, they'd change their ways.
"I could kill a hunter. It's, like, self defense," Charlotte declared and put her hand on her hip.
Charlotte followed Kail's gaze, sniffing the air.
"What's that?"

"Yeah exactly, self defense." Kail was quick to agree for once, though he stood up from his seated position as he spoke. The scents outside were familiar, but unexpected, and the tension left his shoulders. But when he glanced back to Charlotte, there was a faint flicker of worry across his face.
"Uh, some friends. They're kinda a lot, so just-"
The door swung open hard enough it hit the wall, and a tall woman stepped over the threshold.
"Huuuunt!" She cooed, her fangs flashing as she spoke. She was pretty in a wild kind of way, her thick curly hair like a mane around her face, her eyes an unnatural, piercing amber, rimmed black round the iris. Her features were sharp and distinctly canine, her bare arms covered in a layer of fur.
Her eyes had been on the cub, narrowed in affection, but they slid straight to Charlotte, and then briefly to Kail, her eyebrows raising. She smiled, large teeth bared, and stepped close to Charlotte, scenting the air with an utter lack of subtly.
"Hey girl! What's your name? Kail didn't tell us he was having someone over~"
Her tone was friendly but brash, teasing towards the end. The wendigo scowled and shoved at her shoulder, and she shoved back, her claws painted a bright pink.
"Fuck off Jennifer. Wanna knock next time?"

"Jennifer!"
Hunt's big blue eyes grew bigger when she realized she was going to get to see Jennifer, the young manticore running over to say hello regardless of if the woman's attention was still on her. She was here! Even if Charlotte had become a werecreature beast thing. She was still the one that was the most important for Jennifer to be paying attention to, and she let her know by slamming her body into Jennifer's legs.
Charlotte observed the new girl with naked curiosity, her nose twitching as she sniffed the werewolf back.
"Oh, he's been a shithead. He's bad at communication. Texting. Calling. All of it," Charlotte said bluntly, "I'm Charlotte."
The woman's style, pink pretty claws matched with a mane of hair, furry arms...Charlotte liked her pretty quickly.

Lyse entered last, her movements unnaturally silent, trailing mist around her boots. At first glance, the woman looked human enough, with striking green eyes, a light dusting of freckles on her cheekbones and her wavy reddish brown hair pulled away from her face in simple braids while the rest fell loose. She was beautiful, in an undeniably ethereal way, not as rough around the edges as the rest of Kail’s entourage. As she turned her head lightly, taking in the space, pointed ears peeked out from her hair marked her as inhuman. Lyse had thought that anywhere else would be better than being stuck in the misty halls of the court but this little cabin in the woods certainly was… a choice. At least Eike and Valka would never even want to be caught dead near a place like this, making it almost peaceful.
Finally her eyes landed on Charlotte, taking in the scraggly half beast form. Her time in Wathais had introduced her to many creatures that she had only really ever heard of in passing, and she had yet to decide if she was impressed by any of them. At the end of the day, that depended on their skills and how they used them. The elf knew better than to be impressed by appearances. There were exceptions of course, like Kail and Jennifer and the rest of that group - Lyse wouldn’t have agreed to work with them, if she didn’t think they would actually get stuff done.
“That sounds like Kail, as charming as a brick wall”, the elf finally spoke, a hint of dry humor in her voice. Then she turned her gaze to Charlotte, sent her a small smile and nod in greeting. “I’m Lyse. Good to meet you.”

Jennifer stumbled back a half step, almost hitting Lyse, and stooped to aggressively ruffle Hunts mane, smiling all the while.
“My killer kitty!” She said, running her hands down her back and along her tail. “You get bigger everytime I see you.”
She scooped the manticore up as easily as if she weighed the same as a normal housecat, cradling her like a baby.
“He can't do anything right.” She hitched onto the end of Lyse’s insult, laughing, and Kail rolled his eyes, crossing his arms across his chest.
“I’m getting ganged up on here.” He mumbled. The werewolf completely ignored him, her attention entirely on Charlotte.
“Nice to see another were-girl.” She continued. “I haven’t met a hyena before.”
She gently deposited Hunt back on the ground, scratching behind her ears. When she straightened, she stepped close to Charlotte and grabbed her hand, turning it over to inspect her claws, and then looked intently into her eyes, still holding her hand.
“Are you a fighter?”

"I'm gonna be very big," The manticore purred, completely at ease being lifted in Jennifer's arms. She was a killer, a murderous beast. She was also a cuddly creature to be held and snuggled. There was no contradiction in Hunt's mind, these things existed at the same time in harmony. She made a displeased noise when set down but stuck close by so she could be part of things.
Charlotte watched the elf step out with keen interest, folding her arms as she scrutinized the woman's face. She didn't think Lyse was Kail's style, that he would associate with someone so fantastically beautiful. Not that she minded the surprise. Maybe some of it would rub off on Kail.
"Good to meet you," She addressed the elf, then glanced back at Jennifer who had taken her hand. She seemed unbothered by the action.
"I'm learning. I'm better at sneaking and tech things."

The fae woman gracefully stepped out of the way as the werewolf stumbled.
“Of course you’re getting ganged up on, Kail. You make it easy”, Lyse quipped, patting the wendigo on the shoulder before turning away. She was no Jennifer, and despite her quick remarks, she preferred to let others do the talking.
While the others chatted, the elf wandered through the room, studying small knickknacks and whatever else caught her eye. Her footsteps made no sound. She listened to the conversation with the casual nature of someone who had survived by eavesdropping.
“That’s good. It’s something to work with”, Lyse commented, returning her attention to the others, “the best opponent to fight is the one that doesn’t know you’re there.”

"The biggest and scariest." Jennifer agreed with Hunt, smiling.
Kail watched Lyse in his peripherals, leaning against the couch and trying to seem nonchalant. Most of the items scattered around the cabin were, unsurprisingly, hunting items of some kind, or valuables stolen off corpses. At least he had semi-cleaned up.
"So you're like, a hacker?" Jennifer dropped Charlottes hand, faintly disappointed but still staring intently. "That's cool. Are you a maneater too?"
The abrupt switch in conversation topic didn't seem to surprise Kail, but it had definitely irritated him.
"No, and she don't want to." He snapped, shooting the werewolf a pointed look. She seemed to get what he meant, a look of understanding flitting across her face, and held up her hands, rolling her eyes.
"OMG, I was just asking!"
