Sara was already nodding before the doctor finished his question. "Absolutely doctor, reet this- right this way. I prepped the lab just in case of this, so we won't 'ave to waste any time." The learned speech patterns were back. More clipped and professional than the shifter's usual manner. Given the potential graveness of the situation, she wanted to be absolutely sure she was understood. There were, however, still the occasional twangs of her normal accent - the dropping of letters or rising intonations.
She beckoned Jedidiah towards the inner door, but at the threshold stood to look him over. Her eyes glanced up and down his tall stature, features thoughtful, before she gave him a small smile. "Luckily for you, since you'd like tah 'elp, I think we've a lab coat that'll fit. Orc placement recently joined, so we got in some very large sizes. Still be a tad snug, but if you're going to be workin' in the lab I must insist you wear one while inside, alreet?" Should he give an affirmative, Sara led the way into her workspace, plucked a massively oversized - at least in comparison to human standards - blue lab coat from a neatly folded pile and handed it to him.
There was another coat, mostly white save for a couple of biohazard symbols and a Ghostbusters logo emblazoned on the back and sleeves. Sara's eyes glittered with humour as she walked over to it, "Like to denote which coats are from my lab, hence the blue," she explained, her accent creeping back despite herself, "-'cept me own, some'ow, git the feelin' everyone knows who it belongs to, like, ya know?"

Jedidiah:
he nodded before following the scientist to the threshold. . .ducking down abit to make sure he didn't wack his head on the door frame. . . . .he blinked abit as she seemed to look him up and down before figuring out why she was doing that when she mentioned lab coats. . . it wasn't that he expected anything else, just with his size, hardly anyone has anything that would fit him. . . he would normally have to special order it. . . so it was abit of a surprise that she might of had something that was close to his size. though, shes right. . lucky for him there are those who would be closer to his height. . . especially since orcs do exists here. he nodded. "alright, I have no issue with that. . . I'll try my best to not rip the thing. " he replied sincerely. "and. Thank you for doing this, Dr. Summers. . . " he added.
she was taking time out of her work day to help him with this case . . . help speed the tests along. . . and he originally came to her for advice on the patient. the fact she was doing all of this, using resources, her time and lab space for this patient. he was grateful. . .
God, if he did rip a coat. . . and one of the larger sizes too. . . he personally knows how pricey it can be just being a very large man. . . when it comes to clothing and what not. he followed the scientist to her workplace before taking the neatly folded coat in hands. . . he nodded before carefully unfolding the coat. . . it was a good few sizes too small for him. . .a large trying to fit into a small sort of size difference. . . .he carefully placed his hands through the sleeves and placed the coat on. . . granted, Thank God. . it did not rip while he was putting the thing on. . . it was relatively tight on him. . . the folds in his clothing underneath as well as his own rather muscular frame was detailed very thoroughly by the blue lab coat. . . he tested his mobility in the coat to find well, he cant flail his arms up and he cant raise his arms above his head by much, but it will do. . . .it wasn't like he was going to run a marathon in them. . . and he had no plans on flexing- though it honestly feels like if he flexes his muscles abit too harshly, he might tear the sleeves. . .
he glanced over as Dr. Summers mentioned that with exception of her own coat, they were all blue. . . .he nodded. " I can see reason why, makes it easier to keep track of them in a building with more then one lab." he replied, though he hasn't had that issue before. . . not really. . . .most of the people hes worked with were half of his size. . . . they were more liable to trip and stumble in his coat if they tried to grab it to use. . . and prior he was the only doctor. . . hard to lose a coat then. . .
"at the first clinic I worked at, I use to have this one lab coat that was half pink and half blue, both sides were faded. . .it was normally on the hanger where the children patients can doodle on or stick stickers on. . . that ways its not as scary for them hopefully when it was their time for me to check on them. " he continued. though loosing all of the lab coats, he can see the struggle with that. . . suddenly a lab loses all of its coats, while another suddenly gains coats. . . which makes it a good thing the ones he had lent a set of spare scrubs to barrow back to the clinic in the mountains. . .
right, to business. . . .

Sara looked over her shoulder at Jedidiah with a huge, gleeful smile on her face. “Eeee! That’s bloody adorable that is luv!” She could picture his old coat perfectly, as well as the looks on the children’s faces when they laid eyes upon it. “Would ya like us tah git ya another one like it? Can do it no problem, like, if ya want?” Admittedly, the doctor might not want to, but at the very least Sara made a note to get an even bigger coat than the one he was currently wearing. She had thought it would be a bit snug on him, but hadn’t appreciate just how tight. It must be uncomfortable, especially in the armpits and across the back.
Nevertheless, once the pair of them were suitably geared up in coats and gloves, Sara led the way inside.
The pair spent the next few hours prepping the samples Jedidiah had brought and running a series of tests; the CBC was completed quickly and Sara followed it up with a white blood cell differential, to better see which types of cell might be at elevated levels or not. To cover their bases, the shifter also set out a number of different agar plates, with differing selective compounds and base growth medium, in order to see whether they could narrow down what could possibly be so aggressively affecting the young mer.
Eventually, with any quick tests accomplished, agar plates neatly stacked and put away to await growth and with the final test Sara could currently conceive of to run hooked up to the relevant machines, the shifter turned to Jedidiah and said, “Alreet luv, reckon we best ‘ave a break an’ git somethin’ tah eat, like, while this is runnin’ ya know? Nowt good tah anyone withowt sustenance. Fancy joinin’ us for somethin’ like?” An affectionate smile graced her features as she followed up with, “If nowt else, our Aaron 'as left us some chocolate.”

Jedidiah:
"Another one like it? " he asked. he hadn't thought about making another similar to it. . . after moving and what not. . . the old coat was still on the hanger he last remembered at the clinic he worked at for all the kids to enjoy at the request of one of the children- a child named Johnathan. . . one of the other doctors, a patient that was a child patient at the clinic seemed to shine at the idea since it made the hospital experience easier for him . . . .the children here might like something similar to that as well. . " Ahh. . .actually. . sure. . if its not too much. I can forward you guys money to pay for it, too. . or, whomever might be in charge of that here. "
he started thinking about making another in addition to this one. . . so there can be one left for the children here, as well as another one at the clinic where he worked at. . .the one he built. . though, would the WSDA approve of something like that? though the children might definitely like something similar to that here. . .as well as the clinic- regardless of how few he saw now at the moment in the clinic. . . . . . when he gets the surgical tools calibrated correctly for children he might end up seeing more of them to top it off. . . . . .
"Thank you. . . .that is very kind of you. " he added. he honestly did not expect this in the least. Dr. Summers is a really nice lady. . . its like she has a heart of gold, as much as she cares about the children, he assumes. the coat cant possibly be for him. hopefully the children warm up to the idea like they did in the village where the clinic he worked at first was.
While they worked, he was diligent and careful. . .a large as he was, he was able to move about without knocking anything down or what not- one of a surgeon's needed skills was spacial awareness. moving around inside of the cavity of a person's body, can't risk accidentally ramming a tool or a hand into a side or a wall. especially at his size, good way to accidentally kill them. everything was labeled as it was done to keep the pallets in order, All of the blood samples, tissue samples, even the fungal and parasite samples.
when the tests were done and growth was needed, all neatly set aside, he glanced towards Sara as she started to mention taking a break while the samples matured. he smiled and nodded. "sounds like a good idea. though before food. would you mind if I go check on the patient beforehand? I want to keep an tab on her numbers to keep an hourly record of her health. " since those too, can give an tell as to what is going on and how her body is reacting to what is inside of her.
Though at the mention of an Aaron and Chocolates, he raised his eyebrow in curiosity- almost like a child being introduced a new thing rather then anything near such things as envy or suspicion. Chocolates? oh, maybe husband and wife? or maybe shes pregnant? but he didn't hear another heart beat or any of the other medical indicators that would elude to that. did they just get married? she also said 'us' so he got them both chocolates? but he doesn't even know the guy. . . was he a patient? "that's really nice of him. " he happily replied. so a gift card to some fancy restaurant enough for two people might definitely be a good thank you gift for them.
though his idea of fancy it does not occur to him that there are even fancier restaurants that require people to dress as if they were going to a 'ball' like in those princess movies.

When Jedidiah tried to say he would pay for the coat, Sara waved a hand at him and said in a friendly, but chastising fashion, "Oh come off it man, no ya won't!" She gave the large doctor the kind of smile that said she wasn't taking no for an answer.
Once they were done and cleaning up the lab, Jed mentioned checking on the patient before they grabbed food. She nodded, "Absolutely, I'll come with you, if you're alree- alright with that?" Shrugging off her lab coat, Sara made for the door, smiling at the doctor. "Just need to send a quick few texts, I'll meet you out in the corridor?" After waiting for an affirmative response, the shifter made her way out of the lab, before taking out her phone and swiping open her texts with Aaron. It didn't take her long to type out the first message. 'Hey love, finished with work for the minute, did ya leave those chocolates somewhere or am I coming to you for them? ;3 x' His reply didn't take long, thankfully. 'On the desk in your office.' Oh! Well that was certainly handy. He must have dropped by earlier, while she was working in the lab. She made a note to swing by and grab them on the way to the hospital wing. Then, just as she was typing a response, another reply came through. Should I come anyway? The shifter smiled down at the screen, feeling a little swell of warmth that he wanted to see her. There was a twinge of desire to see the agent too, but she knew that she would be going to see the sick mer-person soon and wasn't sure how many visitors would be allowed, or how Aaron would feel about it. She didn't want to suddenly blow Jedidiah off and it wasn't as though she didn't see Aaron with regularity. So, with a soft sigh, she typed out a response, You know I always love to see you, but I'm about to go see a patient I think. You gunna be free to head home soon, we could head out together? xx Ta very much for the chocolate though! You're champion <3

Jedidiah:
he blinked abit. but. . . coats his size tend to be stupidly expensive at times. . . he tried one more time more or less with "are you sure? I can pay for it. . .and they tend to be pretty expensive" nope. . .did not deter her from it. .so he gave up on trying to offer to pay. . . thanking her again for it.
when clean up was done and she asked if she could come along to see the patient he nodded. " of course. I will wait for you in the corridor. " he replied. after whatever appropriate steps were to be taken were done so, he stood outside in the corridor where Dr. Summers could see him, so she doesn't have to worry about him leaving her behind while she texted whom she assumed was either fellow employees or her husband/fiance. . . he glanced at the time during the while before quietly adjusting weight off of his left leg. . . . give the stump a break for the time being. his right arm would have to wait til he got home. . . though being on call he can't detach his limbs until hes free. . .
he wasn't crazy about doing it around Ash either. . . not that he believed Ash would do anything to hurt him while he was doing maintenance on his limbs or resting the stumps. . . he just did not like being without limbs around other folks period. . . just his preference. . . . .besides, someone his size missing an arm and a leg is not something that calms anyone's nerves. . . .makes people worry about whats so big or what happened to have done that level of damage. . .before thinking if it was them instead of him. . .
not something he likes to do to other folks. . . not if he can help it.
though he quietly waited. . .his thoughts more focused on the task at hand. . . he will need to look over it after he gathers the new bits of information. . . see if there's a sign or correlation that the patient's body is telling them. . . screaming or hinting at them. . .

Jedidiah wasn't waiting too long before Sara exited the lab, having shed the lab coat for her more usual attire of shorts and a vest top. It seemed like, no matter the time of year, if the shifter could get away with shorts she often did so.
As she approached, the shifter noticed Jed seemed to be favouring one leg slightly. Her head tilted a touch. Had he been on his feet too long, was an injury or ache bothering him? "Y'alreet pet? Feet doin' alreet?" Though she had meant to keep up her more 'received' manner of speech, now that she was out of the lab and concerned for him, Sara found her accent slipping back without realising. She was so very out of the habit, given how many of her co-workers seemed to put up with (or even sometimes enjoy) her vernacular. "I'm ready tah visit ya patient, like, be reet quick, then we can sit down for a bit, alreet?"

Jedidiah: "hm? oh, I'm alright. " he replied "I'm normally on my feet while on the clock, I'm alright. " he continued, hoping to assure the woman he was alright. When she stated she was ready to visit the patient, he nodded. "I will do my best to be as timely as possible; unless an emergency arises, I will just need to go in, record the current states of areas being monitored, and leave the room. " he explained. Sure, he wasn't going to skim over potential issues, but he did not plan on spending too much time either- it would be like a busy day at the office, like when there was an avalanche or a serious pile-up, where he had many injured patients in critical or serious condition or whatnot. Though instead of using the elevator, he headed for the stairs, almost avoiding it. Perhaps something happened at one point or perhaps he just preferred to walk/ run. He just found it quicker with his gait, and never really trusted the idea of an elevator; too easy for something like that to become stuck - especially with his weight. When they finally reached the patient's room, he entered the room quietly, leaving the door quietly for Dr. Summers, before doing the rounds of checks he needed to do; blood pressure, heart rate, the recording of said numbers, internal/external Ph, the electrical field around the patient's heart- jotting down all of the findings down in a notebook where he had the previous numbers recorded. During the visitation, The mergirl seemed although pained, still asleep. Although she did not seem to have worsened in her condition, she seemed more or less stuck. Not abysmal enough to just die at the drop of a dime, yet not well enough to just sit up and walk off either. His handwriting was surprisingly coherent and legible despite the common trope of a doctor's handwriting. When he was done, he reset the timer on his pager and glanced at Dr. Summers before giving her a nod that he was done before waiting by the door for her in case she needed to do or look over anything. Or if she simply wanted to see or watch what was occurring. "I've recorded what I needed. " he quietly whispered in a low tone, as deep as his voice was normally was, it already carried fairly well without him needing to raise his voice or whatnot. The last thing he wanted to do was advertise the patient's privacy to others or startle someone awake with him talking."Whenever your ready, I am ready as well. " he added.

While Jedidiah had been doing his checks, Sara quickly ran off to grab the chocolate left for her. She was back by the time he finished, leaning against a door and watching the mergirl with a clear expression of concern and helplessness; desperately, she wished there were more she could do.
For a second or two, the shifter didn't respond to Jed's whispered comment and instead continued to gaze at the unconscious patient, a gentle sigh escaping her. Then, with a blink, a shake of her head and an apologetic smile, she responded with, "Why aye, sorry luv, I'm ready like." With a last, lingering look at the girl, Sara led her companion in the direction
As they walked, she popped a chocolate into her mouth and then held the box out to the doctor, "Know we should 'ave dinner before dessert, like, but let's bend the rules." A wink, another smile as the ginger-haired woman waited for him to take an offered treat.
Were this another day and he not tied in with a critical patient, Sara would have taken Jed out for food - there was an excellent burrito place just two streets over. But she thought best to err on the side of caution, at least today. Thus, she led him down to the WDSA canteen and when she held open the door for him to pass through, mentioned, "Next time, I'll take ya owt, like. But just let us know what ya want from 'ere today, alreet? I'll buy." Her tail twitched as she considered the options. Luckily, even though it was fairly late in the day, with the number of nocturnal and late-working staff, there was always food of various descriptions on offer. "Thinkin' a chicken wrap and potato wedges meself."

Jedidiah:
he merely nodded in understanding when the good Doctor apologized "It's alright- no need to apologize." he replied as quietly as he spoke prior with a small smile. . he understood the worry- was in the same general boat as she is in the concern for the patient. He's just had more time to learn how to mask it- he did not think she needed to apologize for having empathy.
while they walked, from his peripherals, he noticed a small box being lifted towards him with small little dark brown pieces within. "Know we should 'ave dinner before dessert, like, but let's bend the rules." she winked. "Ooo, thank you, Doctor. I'm sure a few bites won't hurt dinner's appetite. " he happily replied, lifting his right arm and wiggling the fingers of it like a little kid preparing to grab a tiny thing before carefully grabbing a piece. it was tiny in his hands, but he did not mind- he did wonder what these tasted like seeing patients eat them from time to time and families bringing it in for them.
Oh Goody Lordy it was sweeeeet- He liked sweet things, he discovered. Probably because of the berry bread or cinnamon bread from back home. Ooooooh, or the roasted papaya his mom use to make for them.
Looking around the canteen he found it was abit more lively than the other hospital at this time of day- or night since the sun had set a while ago. He looked towards Dr. Summers as she spoke. "Thinkin' a chicken wrap and potato wedges meself." she added. "hmmm. I've haven't tried potato wedges before. I think I'll go for a burger and potato wedges. " he replied "Though if you're buying for the both of us this time around, I'll like to buy for the both of us next time around." he added happily. He learned from the lab coat thing she wasn't going to take no for an answer on the issue of money- maybe it only counts if she hasn't offered to pay yet? he has no idea but feels bad shes paying for him.

Sara inhaled an over-exaggerated breath at Jedidiah's admission. "Never 'ad-? Mate, ya missin' owt! They're proper mint, like." She grinned and lightly elbowed him. "Good thing I'm 'ere, like, 'elp expand ya 'orizons." At the suggestion he would pay for their next meal-based outing, the shifter's tail wagged. She wasn't precious about paying for everything herself, if he wanted to repay the favour, she wasn't about to turn down free food and good company. She gave the doctor a thumbs up. "It's a date."
Now knowing what he intended to order, Sara made her way to one of the fridges and grabbed a can, holding it up and wiggling it (not too vigorously, mind, wouldn't want a carbonated drink explosion). "'Avin' a drink?" She asked, hovering near the fridge until he said one way or another. "An' want anythin' changed on ya burger, like? Tomatoes taken off or an extra patty, ya know?" After waiting for his response and glancing about the room, she then followed with, "Oh an' grab us a table, could ya please luv? I'll bring it ower, like."

Jedidiah:
he smiled all guilty like at the over-exaggerated breath, though all the while amused? at the mention of expanding his horizons- well, he was always game for learning more- even his 'quest to learn all the languages' will never be done. He happily nodded when she agreed and would let him pay for the next time- wait did he really ask her on a date? . . . hopefully as just friends. . .He wouldn't want to step on Aaron's toes figuratively.
When she offered to grab him a drink as well, he nodded. " yes, please. " he replied. "no need on making any changes to the burger though. " he continued, easier to just let em make it as they normally do- both on Sara and on the chefs here.
when she asked if he could grab them a table, he nodded before looking about for a table for the two of them to sit. . .if only it was so easy, the bigger tables he feels like would be a hassle for the kind doctor considering the chairs to them seem to almost table like in height? . . . he didn't want to 'look down' at her while they eat, didn't want her to feel smaller. . .and the half tables look uncomfortable to both parties.
So he opted to grab one of the mundane-height tables for the two of them. he sat down at a handicap accessible table with a chair and booooy, oh Boy it looked awkward from the outside point of view.
It was like dad sitting at the tea party table with his little girl level of height difference, or Big dog trying to sleep in the puppy bed awkwardly.
Though, this was fine. He did have to use tables and chairs like this during residency and in the other hospital he pulls call in.
