"No teleporting! That's cheating!", Ari called out making Cyren quietly laugh. "No need powers to win," she whispered to herself.
Cyren lurked a few branches up, hiding in a large patch of leaves. She saw how Ari-cat slunk across the ground, waiting and watching only to have the squirrel skitter away when he pounced for it. She tracked the squirrel back up to the higher branch and slowly crept along until she was just above. Unfortunately, the sleeve of her new blouse caught on a twig, alerting the unsuspecting creature to her presence. It looked at her for a moment before bounding down the branch to another tree.
Silently cursing the fire-head Raine and his fashion choices, she tore the frilly sleeves off and tied off the bottom of the shirt so that it wouldn't impede her in a similar manner. She saw Ari creeping up from below and new it was time to move. He may have seen her due to the twig breaking, and she would not be beaten by a cat... shifter or no.
She climbed up another branch above and slowly made her way to the next tree over, this squirrel was hers.

For his part, although he was a cat, Ari kept to a humanoid form - both for fairness sake, as well as simply because he did not want to deal with the hunger that gripped him after a change. A squirrel wouldn't make much of a meal, and he didn't feel like scrounging for scraps in the park trash bins.
Ari's blunted ears tried to prick up at the sound of leaves and branches moving overhead - too much noise for a squirrel, so it must be Cyren. His eyes were searching for the creature - watching for movement more than anything else. And there it was, rushing down the tree again, driven by the noise Cyren had made when her shirt had snagged. It bounded across the leaf-strewn ground to the next tree in a few leaps, and, light-footed, Ari followed it.
He didn't reach it before it was up the tree, but that didn't stop him from following it up, clawed fingers finding cracks in the tree's bark to grip as he hauled himself up, booted feet scrabbling at the trunk to push him up. he had started on the ground, sure, but she hadn't said he had to *stay* there.
Once he had gained a few branches, he paused again, leaning against the trunk as his eyes scanned for the bushy-tailed creature, the spare moonlight filtering through the trees reflecting a lambent green in their depths. There it was, farther out along a branch, only about one limb above him.

Cyren saw Ari creep up the base of the tree until he was just a branch below the furry critter. She had gone further up above and was practically on top of the shifter, intent on winning their little game.
Slowly, she slid her feet down the trunk- making the least amount of noise she possibly could. When she was one branch above her prey, though off to the right a bit, she grinned at the shifter below her. She was clinging to the branch like and upside down sloth. She focused her gaze on the squirrel and dropped. Her hand was poised to grab hold of the squirrel she sped past and landed on her feet on the forest floor, crouched below Ari.
With a grin, she looked up at the shifter and grinned "Cyren win!"
Though she won the game, she looked like she'd been lost in the forest for days. He shoes were somewhere on the forest floor, her shirt was now sleeveless and the bottom of it shredded; her jeans even tore in a few spots! Not to mention her hair was decorated with leaves and berries.
Still hanging on to the squirrel Cyren asked, "What do now?"

Ari hissed softly as he saw the girl moving above him. The sound, however quiet, still caught the small rodent's attention. The squirrel twitched it's bushy tail and glared at him, then began to scamper away - right into Cyren's hands as she dropped down to grab it. The small beast coughs out an alarm cry as it's grasped, scrabbling and squirming in Cyren's grip. It wouldn't take much to snuff out its small life, however it still struggles mightily to free itself.
Ari bared his teeth in a brief grimace at his loss, then shifted his grip on the tree and pulled himself up onto a branch, shifting about until he found a comfortable seat, his legs dangling down as he leaned to peer at Cyren.
"You win," he agrees, pouting a touch for a moment, then shaking it off with a chuckle and a grin. "Mm. Well we weren't going to eat it... I guess we could chase it again? Or let it go, if you've had enough of this game?" He absently scraped his nails against the bark of the tree, considering their options. Briefly, he considered they might go into the town - but her clothes were so ripped and tattered after the hunt, they'd stand out like a sore thumb. And he might get blamed for them. He didn't want that!
"What do you usually do for fun, Kairen? We could spar for real, I suppose. I haven't... really scrapped with anyone in a while. I'm probably a bit rusty," he laughed.

Cyren stared blankly up at Ari, "for fun?" she repeated back. She set the squirrel down and let it run off, while she thought. "I hunt for food and pelts, fish for food, train with warriors... most for need- not fun..." she trailed off uncertain of what Ari might be looking for.
She shook out her hair and tore off the loose strips of fabric from her shirt, what remained ended about mid-torso (a length she was used to). One of the Strips she tied around her hair so that it was held in a low tail.
"If not home I am in the Mountains with Marchelute or at the loud place that 'Thiel owns." she paused as she tried to gauge the time, "if out too long 'Thiel sends someone to find."
"What Ah-Ree-Cat do fun?"

Ari's ears twitched slightly as Cyren mentioned Marchelute, his green gaze focusing on her in some interest. She most certainly had meant the Raine he had met, then, when she mentioned the name earlier. "Do you go to the mountains often, Kairen? I... Mm. I'm staying there, for now," he allowed, offering up the words hesitantly. Maybe he shouldn't tell, but if she visited often, she would find out on her own, wouldn't she?
"What's the loud place? What's it like?" He asked, after a moment, curiosity evident in his tone.
At her question, he shifted slightly, then hopped down from the tree branch, landing in a crouch and straightening smoothly. "Me? Um. A lot of things. I mean, why do something if it's not fun?" He offered her a lopsided grin, then shrugged slightly. "I... Well, I haven't in a while, I guess... I used to go out places, around the city. Bars and clubs and stuff. There's an arcade, too, that's kinda fun... different kinda fun. I haven't done any of that in... in months, I guess. Hunting is fun, chasing - what we just did, right? - swimming sometimes, reading when I'm feeling lazy... You know?"

Cyren nodded at Ari's question about the mountains, "Yes, I try see Friend Marchelute twice between every new and full moon. I am excite you live there! Agree is better than tree." Cyren could only blink in confusion at Ari's list of fun things to do as he hopped down from the tree limb. "I...not know what any of that be. I read history scrolls before sleep and a game of apodidraskinda is good for skills."
"Umm, loud place?" she continued, " It is dark with flashes of lightning while loud sounds shake building. I have peaked through the door one time to see many persons flap like fish out of stream... 'Thiel calls it music and dancing, I do not agree. Makes my head hurt."
"What be "arcade"? Many ancient scrolls and tomes?"

Ari smiled a little and nodded back at her. "Maybe I'll see you around there, then. That'd be kind of cool." He paused, trailing off as he listened to Cyren's response. At the unfamiliar word, he cocked his head slightly to the side, curious. "What's... apo... apodidra...skinda?" He stumbled a bit over the word, trying to repeat the word she had said.
At her description of the 'loud place' he smiled slightly. "I've been to that kind of place. I... kinda like those. They can be kinda fun, but I guess I can see how that'd be confusing to you. I mean... well... What kinda music do you like? Like... like where you were from? Music here's gotta be strange for you..."
"An arcade is uh. Kinda like your 'loud place', sorta. Lots of flashing lights and noise. And um... consoles - uh, big machine things with... screens? that show you pictures. You play games on them. Some of them don't have screens, they're just... machines or throwing balls at targets... No scrolls or tomes there."

"apodidraskinda," Cyren repeated, "Is game we play last we met!" she frowned and fingered the amulet that she wore around her neck, "Is not translate well. 'Thiel works with English? and me, but take time." She shrugged her shoulders in a helpless manner.
Cyren was a bit disappointed by the fact that the arcade did not cater to the arcane, but she was intrigued as to what kind of things could be found there. She liked games, not that she really got a chance to play any that weren't actually war-time tactics practice... but she was intrigued.
She perked up at the question of music, "Oh! In Atlantea me and tribe surround fire and chant songs of old, then those with drums would start soft and slow with hand movement and then go faster and very loud. Um..." she trailed off and looked around where they stood before she smiled and grabbed two foot long twigs that were roughly two inched wide before grabbing Ari-cat and dragging him over to one of the metal grills in the picnic area of the park. She grinned at her friend before starting a low chant that did not get translated through her amulet. She then lightly tapped the grill with one stick and then the other alternating for a minute before speeding up her movements and strengthening her hits. With her rotating around the grill, in an effort to access the different sounds from different areas, made her look very tribal.
After her show, which lasted no longer than five minutes, Cyren looked up at her friend with a sheepish grin, "Ah, our music? heh. It sound better with more drums and other voices..."
Reigning in her embarrassment, Cyren looked to Ari for direction, "So where Arcade? Sounds strange and excitement. I not explore village as much as want, we go there now?"

"Apodidra... Mmn. Hide-and-seek, you mean? Or tag? I mean, it was kind of both..." He tilted his head slightly to the side, a bit uncertainly. That was what he thought they were playing, at least, in their hiding and chasing one another.
When Cyren grabbed him by the arm and dragged him over to the 'picnic' area of the park, Ari laughed and followed. The youths seemed to have abandoned their bench - perhaps it was finally past their bedtimes. Once released, Ari went to take a seat at a nearby table to watch and listen as Cyren made her music at the grill. He found himself grinning as he watched, and when she finished he offered applause.
"It'd probably be easier with real drums, too. Maybe you can teach me, later, then you'll have another uh. Well another set of hands, at least. I'm... not sure I can sing that," he laughed. "It was nice, 'though. Kinda tribal... Mm. Maybe we can try some music on you, see if we can find something from here that you like." He grinned again.
"Oh. You want to go there now? Mm. I guess it might still be open... It's kinda near the mall. We can probably walk there." He didn't really have much money for the games, but... well, he would think of something on the way.

When Ari offered to learn her music to be able to join in, Cyren couldn't help expressing her excitement that she had made such a good friend! "It would be most magnificent to teach! We can craft own! Much fun! Thank you Ari-cat!" she physically vibrated with excitement.
At the mention of the time, Cyren looked at the position in the sky and cursed, "να πάρει η ευχή! 'Thiel is killing me, I very late." She looked at the dark haired boy for a moment before nodding to herself in a decisive manner, "Ari-cat come with, prove to 'Thiel or Moana that I not dead and then go out? Both be at loud place in center of city. That okay?"
As she moved to the edge of the park, to the nearest street, Cyren thought about the quickest and easiest way to get to Malthiels' 'Penthouse Apartment'. "Be much quick to appear than walk- but you choose. No want to make uncomfortable."

Ari grinned at her excitement, a bit of it rubbing off on him. What harm could there be in learning to play? Like she had said, it would probably be fun to make music together. "I look forward to it then," he laughed.
Cyren's curse confused him - he didn't understand the words, although the tone in which they were said was clear enough to their meaning. "Ohh. You have a curfew, huh? Well alright. Uh. I can walk you ba- Oh, right, you can teleport... Mm. I suppose. Ah. That would be faster, wouldn't it? I suppose I'm game to try it out, at least once. If it makes me sick, 'though, we're walking from there!"

Cyren linked arms with Ari, "easier to manage if move," she commented as she got him to move into a light jog. From there she visualized the top of the next hill and concentrated on being there. They took a step and were suddenly displaced and their next steps were on the hill in question. The most disorienting part of the movement was just the change in scenery. If Cyren had opted to just port them from place to place-standing stationary- it would feel like they had suddenly dropped from about a foot up. A the first time experiencing that might make you feel a bit nauseous.
Roughly ten minutes later Ari and Cyren ended up on a busy street downtown. Shops and restaurants were busy with people of all sorts milling around the street. Their destination was the newly renovated building on the corner. The building was a mix of dark brick and polished stone with "Club REM" written out in large modern style neon letters that rotated through the cool color spectrum, and a neon light that wrapped around the uppermost ledge of the building. The line outside appeared to wrap around the building letting Cyren know that 'Thiel might be too busy to talk to and would have to look for Moana instead.
Keeping a tight grip on Ari's arm, lest he get lost in the big crowed, Cyren led them up to the large entrance where a large burly black man with a nose piercing was managing the crowd. "Frankie!" she yelled out over the conversations and the music that could be heard from inside. When she had his attention she smiled, "'Thiel or Moana near? I run late tonight."
The newly dubbed 'Frankie' grinned at the blue skinned girl, "Hey Princess! 'bout time you showed up. Boss was about to send a search party. Go on in," he cut off the protesters in line with a potent glare. Frankie raised an eyebrow at the long-haired boy that Cyren was holding on to but kept silent and shook his head on the matter. He did radio in that the Princess had appeared and bid a silent good luck to the boy.
Cyren led Ari through the modern lounge area, with a sleek bar top and tables, low lighting and decorative walls. It was all very "Sheike"
"Moana or 'Thiel be around soon, then can go." Cyren assured her friend.

Ari furrowed his brows slightly, but nodded and followed Cyren's example. He jogged alongside her, although he near tripped as, abruptly, they were no longer in the park. He didn't feel sick, at least, however he was a bit startled. Even after they had jumped a number of times and arrived at their destination, he still wasn't comfortable with the means of transport. Perhaps it might have been easier with his eyes closed?
He felt a bit under-dressed for the club they approached - really, he needed to see about acquiring cash for some new clothes. He had somewhere safer than a dufflebag to stash them now, after all... Still, even dressed as he was, he didn't feel particularly off-put by the crowd. It was easy to disappear in crowds, at least as a human - as easy as it was for a leopard to disappear into the dappled shadows of tree foliage.
He slipped along with Cyren until they reached the front of the line to enter the club. It had been a fair while since he had been to a place like this, and he decided to stand back and let the blue-skinned girl handle things - she knew this place better than he did, even if she professed not to like it much. When they were ushered in, Ari offered the bouncer a quick smile and a nod, although the former was a touch forced given the look the man gave him. It wasn't hostile, but neither was it a particularly friendly expression. More... concerned? Ari pondered it as Cyren lead him into the lounge.
"Moana? I guess that's another friend of yours?" Ari glanced about, then took advantage of one of the empty stools near the bar, perching himself upon it.

Cyren scanned the lounge and sighed at not seeing her 'Thiel or Moana appearing. Usually, when she came here to check in, they appeared behind her like a shadow. It seemed that they were both overly busy tonight, then. She settled herself in the seat next to Ari and waved to the closest bartender. The woman, though barely over 5 ft tall was in her upper 20's and waved in response letting Cyren know that she would be over soon.
It was mere minutes when the woman arrived behind the bar, flicking her white-blonde bangs out of her dark brown eyes. "Hey suga- what's shakin'?" her words tinged with a southern drawl. "Just saw the Boss-man not long ago. Thought he was gonna send Moana out afta ya." The bartenders dark eyes drifted over to the long-haired boy who looked a bit out of place in the club, "Bring ya boyfriend home?"
Cyren furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, "Boyfriend...?" She shook her head, "I am to check in and then friend Ari," she motioned to the shifter, "take to arcade. Oh! Lani, this friend Ari!" she turned to Ari as she continued, "This Lani- she makes great drinks"
The bartender looked over the shifter with a critical eye before turning back to the Boss's daughter, "I'll get ya yer usual as ya wait, suga. What about you boyfriend? first drink on the house."
