Cassius nodded at her assessment, staring helplessly at the mess of cords coming out of Dr. Summer’s machine. He had no idea how this thing worked. If he did, he might be a little more useful setting it all up with her. He patted off his hands on his pants and squatted to place himself closer to her current eye-level.
“I don’t know if she was really a true God. Then again, what is a true God? Any creature that men worship? It is a rather broad category, isn’t it?”
He studied her expression, thoughtful. She was so focused on her work, and on every task.
The scarred man could see what Agent Telmore saw in this girl. She exuded all the life that he suppressed within himself. She was like a little sun.
“I never assume anything. I’ve seen enough of the consequences to know what might happen.”
There was a tinge of what might be sadness in his words, before he turned his gaze the other way, contemplating.
“I have already made my first steps. The initial mixtures have been… subpar, but obviously, nothing fatal. Just…nothing that I am looking for. I can show you some of the data, when you have time, and perhaps both of us can figure out what is wrong.”
