A debt to settle and school to start (Jed/Hau/open)

[Chaos]

The mention of Celtic mythology seemed to stir something inside of Chaos, something akin to homesickness. Her ears drooped and her tail curled around her feet. "Strangely, I feel like I'm far from home when I hear thoz werds. Perchance I am meeths but....It does sound like a start for informateeon though." Her ears lift a little and she turns her attention to watching Jedidiah pour the pancake batter.

When Hau brought over the chocolate chips, she reached in and snuck one to her nouth, sacoring the slightly bitter but oh so sweet morsel, her tail swishing happily at the end.

Jedidiah:

He pondered in thought as she seemed to pause. . . before becoming more saddened. As much as it breaks his heart seeing her sad, it does show she is slowly regaining some hints of old lost memories. . .well, he has been teaching her english, and she has been following up on her end the best she could. . . "þat alrit. þú munu fá þar.(It alright. you will get there.)" he assured. His ancient celtic was broken, but an improvement from when they first started. . . . . "A start is good. I can't promise it will always be pleasant, but I do believe you will get to a point were you will be able to regain the memories you lost. Good and bad. " he continued. . . he pondered in thought as she plucked some chocolate chips from the bag Hau pulled out.

He smiled. "Thank you, Hau. Would you like some chocolate chips in your pancake as well? " he asked. He also grabbed a small handful before sprinkling them into the batter. He watched for the bubbling of the batter before notifying Chaos of it. "Ah, Chaos. . so you see how the batter is bubbling? That is when its time to flip the pancake. " he mused.

He gently moved and slid the spatula under the pancake before in a gentle quick motion, flipped it. . . more or less he turned it rather than doing a fancy actual flip. . .Hes not that fansy of a chef. a golden ring was on the top of the pancake, while the rest was a slightly ligher golden brown.

"Now, we will need to wait till it is slightly taller? a short amount of time. . . would you like to make the next pancake, Chaos?" he asked, offering her the spatula he was using. "Your welcome to start with this one if you would like?"

"Oh, definitely." Hau would never turn down chocolate chips in pancakes, or chocolate in general, the very idea made him chuckle. It was a shame Jed was under the impression Bluebell couldn't have any since he was a "dog", but the kitsune wasn't going to dissuade him of the notion. Hau was happy to see that the little treats had cheered up Chaos a little as well.

Wary, he cracked open the oven to check on the bacon inside. They still looked pale and fat with moisture, the brown sugar dusting on top of each strip was just starting to melt. It had a way to go yet so he let it be. For a moment he stood there, uncertain what to do next and glancing around the kitchen for ideas, when his eyes landed back on the spam.

"Do you want me to start grilling this?" He asked, musing over possible seasonings. His moms had always glazed it in brown sugar and shoyu for breakfast, but Hau figured something should probably be left unsweetened, especially if poor Jed wasn't really a fan. He glanced at the available pans and then over at the stovetop, wondering if there was room enough to do both that and pancakes at the same time.

[Chaos]

Chaos nodded eagerly at the chance to try and make a pancake herself. Her tail flicked happily as Jedidiah also encouraged her in her side quest of regaining her memories. If research into the Celtic mythologies helped, she would do it.

She took the spatula with glee and bounced slightly as Jedidiah poured more batter onto the pan. She waited, just as he had showed her, until she would be able to flip the pancake over, Just like Jedidiah! As she waited excitedly, she noticed the little bubbles he had mentioned and, in a quick moment of excited glee, she flips the pancake too quickly and batter flies across the pan, over the edge and across the stove.

Chaos' ears point up in surprise and her tail tucks around her feet. She looks to Jedidiah, her ears drooping low in embarrassment, "I'm sorree Jed! I got ex....ecks....exsight-ed!" She says, looking for the thin white paper they used to clean up small messes.

Jedidiah:

When Hau asked if he wanted the lad to start grilling the spam, he paused for a moment, glancing at the spam. . . "aah. . . If you would like, sure. " he replied. He was planning on frying them on the pan but if Hau wanted to, he was not going to stop the lad. Luckily its hard to burn bacon. Chaos looked excited to take on the task of flipping the pancake.

Though chaos ensued as her name was Chaos, when she flipped the pancake with waaaaay too much strength . . . he snickered at the result, holy shet hes gonna have to clean that up. . .where in the fak did the pancake land?!? "Its ok, Chaos, accidents happen. . . would you like to try again? . . .this time with not as much vigor. " he asked. He looked from splatter to splatter. . .and sighed. . . .well, shows the first pancake was not cooked all the way. . .oh well- rather not get her or Hau sick because it was one of those more sneaky pancakes. . . its alright, pan should definitely be hot enough to not let that happen again.

He grabbed a wet rag and just wiped up the mess. . . getting up glops of batter. . .some of it cooking on the stove and some on the wall. . . where is the rest of the pancake? whelp, hopefully they will figure that one out pretty quick. . . "Here, try pouring another pancake. " he suggested. the pan was empty of batter. and chocolate chips were ready for whoever wanted to add them in.

Hau grabbed a pan and arranged the slices of spam on it, realizing partway through that it would take more than one round of frying to cook them all. No problem. Once everything was heated up, it wouldn't take long. He was just about to put the pan on a burner when batter splattered across the top of the stove. The kitsune jumped, barely managing to snatch everything out the way before he and the food were also victims. He blinked at the mess, surprised to see streaks up the wall, maybe even behind the stove too. They'd probably be finding bits of that for a long time after this.

"Oops." He chuckled after a moment. "You're pretty lethal with that spatula." Good thing he hadn't turned the burner on yet or more of those pancake globs would be scorching onto Jed's stovetop right now. He stepped out of the way as the big man quickly swept in with a rag to clean it up, throwing a generous handful of chocolate chips into the remaining pancake batter when he noticed there were not any already there, then resumed his work with a nod at Jed. "Thanks."

Hau flipped his burner on high. He just needed to get it heated up right now, he'd adjust it later. As he waited for the spam to sizzle he rested his arms on the counter, leaning over and watching Chaos' next attempt at a pancake with an amused smile. "Maybe try a smaller one this time? It'd be slightly easier to flip."

[Chaos]

Chaos helped with wiping up her mess, focusing more on the poor wall, with it's oozing lines of pancake batter. She made sure to clean all the streaks all the way to the floor. After that, she stood back a step and decided to watch, rather than participate. 

Her tail lay curled around her feet and her hands behind her back as she watched Hau and Jed finish prepping the meats and cooking the pancakes. "I'm sorree Jed....I steel ave trooble wif mai streength." She says apologetically.

Jedidiah:

When she wouldn't take the spatula to have another attempt, he accepted the responsibility and moved to make a few pancakes. Making at least 5 chocolate chip pancakes so she could watch at least. . . though when she apologized for making a mess, he shook his head. "Its alright. accidents happen, . .besides, you've should of seen my first attempt at making pancakes, period. . . caught on fire and i tried to flip it to put the fire out. . did not exactly go as plan. " he mused.

"If you would like, your more than welcome to try again? Most people don't make pancakes well the first time around, but it will get easier. " he assured. "besides. . . might be a good way to help you figure out what amount you actually need to make one. . . though truth be told, you don't need much. . . just picking the pancake up with the spatula and turning it works just as well too. . " he added. . .something he did on the second and 4th pancake. . instead of the flip. "Flipping the pancake? . . .its more for folks who are better acquainted with it. . .which honestly just takes time for that to happen. . . though I believe you will get there. . . . just takes time. " he smiled. "even I'm not all too comfortable with flipping the pancake every single time. " he smiled.

Well, he did almost miss with the 3rd one in. . . he had to move the pan to catch it. . . whoops.

The kitsune frowned to see Chaos taking a step back. The mess wasn't that big a deal, at least not to him. Hau straightened, thinking of other options, hating that she might feel left out. "You could also try flipping the spam here, too. It's a lot easier than pancakes since it's more solid." He could hear the meat just starting to sizzle. It wasn't time to do anything just yet, but once they really got going it would only be a few minutes before they'd be brown enough to turn.

"Or..." He considered, glancing over at Jedidiah. "Maybe Jed would let you dig through the fridge or the pantry, see if there's anything else that catches your eye?" Since she seemed to be so unfamiliar with basic foodstuffs, she'd probably get a kick out of picking out something new to try herself. Between the two of them they ought to be able to keep her from doing anything crazy, like salting her dessert or something.

[Chaos]

Chaos politely shook her head. "It is alright. I ave sum smaal acteev aties to teach maisef control." 
Rocking on the balls of her feet, she lifted her nose to sniff the air, her mouth watering as the scent of cooking meat and sweet things filled the air. 

She looks behind her to see if she can set the table and begins going around the drawers, pulling out utensils to put on the table at each spot. She finds a strange spoon that has soft, rubber prongs on it and a hole in the middle of it and places it on the table as well, thinking it might help with scooping something. 

Chaos then goes to each seat and places a cup. A clear glass for Jedidiah, a red tumbler for Hau and she grabs a colorful cup for herself then goes back to watch the two finish making the food.

Jedidiah:

He nodded in understanding, not wanting to push the lass further on the subject. . . . poor thing, sad to see a innocent mistake was so demoralizing. . . maybe in a week or two they can try again. . . When Hau suggested him letting her look through if she wanted he nodded. "Never said she couldn't. Just don't try to eat whats in the plastic tub on the lower right. . . . those are cleaners. . .the rest of the supplies in there is foods or dried goods. " he replied.

The tub he refered to was a rubber bin with a latch seal on it. . . within it, was a small box of rags, some sprays, cleaners, polishes and small bottles of bleach concentrate . . . all separated accordingly to avoid chemical mishaps. . .even all of the bottles and boxes had their spill bowls just incase. Then a cup holder full of brushes. . . dish, bottle scrubs, some sponges. . .and finally a bucket where all of the bleach bottles were stored in. The shelves themselves, had food. non-perishables or dried goods like dried mushrooms and what not. . . the lighter items being along the top including bags of coffee and what not while chocolates or more commonly grabbed spices were along the middle. . . canned goods were kept at the bottom shelves and in dish trays full of more canned goods. . . .all organized neatly. . .


He made a few more chocolate chip pancakes,. . . .made some of Ash's favorate flavored pancakes. . . before setting the heap of pancakes at the table with maple surup, whip cream can, honey. .and fruit jams. . . . Only thing left was the meats. . . rice cooker by this point was done. . ."Ok, we are almost ready. " he noted. "Hau, do you need help with the meats? " he asked. "Chaos, if you want to try the pancakes, don't be afraid to start trying them now. . . they are very good while the are still hot. . . just careful to not burn yourself on em. " he continued.

He was going to wait til Hau was done. . . . "Hey Ash?! We are making pancakes if your interested!" he called.

He has no idea if Ash is hanging out with one of his friends, out in the woods or in his room. . . . . Hopefully Ash is alright, though. . . poor lad has been rather sad for a while. . . . . Though, hasn't change before nor is it going to change now- Ash still has free will and choice if he wants to or not. . . The doctor isn't going to dictate to the poor lad.

[Vaitris]

"Hau, do you need help with the meats?"

He'd just finished putting the second batch of spam into the pan. Now that everything was warmed up, it was moving quickly. "Nah, I'm good." The kitsune took the plate with the finished slices and found a place for it on the table. The smell of everything was making his mouth water but there was still something missing. He pondered a moment before remembering - the bacon!

Hau cracked open the oven, feeling the wave of heat over his skin as he peeked in. The bacon was sizzling, the brown sugar caramelized. Hastily he donned an oven mitt and pulled out the baking sheet. Miraculously, the bacon didn't look burned, but it would still continue to cook a bit outside the oven so hopefully it didn't get more than a little extra crispy. He set it aside to cool a little, finished up the spam, then took everything to the table.

"See? I got it." The kitsune grinned, though he may have cut it just a little close. He took a seat at the table but didn't dig in right away, waiting instead to see if Ash would join them.
