“You speak another language?!”
Faolan’s voice rose in excitement, and he sat up against the man. He was from another world - of course they’d speak a different language.
“That absolutely makes sense, I don’t know why that surprised me, but - you have to teach me, okay?”
The shock of the situation had all but faded from his mind. There was so much he didn’t know about Edge. What his family was like, his friends, what kind of world he’d left behind. He wasn’t done with his questions, but for now, he just wanted to sit with him a while.
He placed his hand over Edges, curling his fingers against his. His expression softened, excitement fading to affection.
“That’s so sweet. Kind of puts my nicknames to shame, though.”
He smiled, golden eyes narrowing, and leant in for a gentle kiss.

“Okay, I can try to teach you”, Edge chuckled, smiling down at his boyfriend, “fair warning though, I might be a little rusty, all things considered” Seeing Faolan relaxed around him, even excited by learning more about him, his language, the world he had come from, warmed his heart. Edge let out a content sound, gently slipping his arm around the blonde’s shoulders so they could sit more comfortably.
“Ah, pssh, what makes a nickname special is who gives it to you” Edge spoke softly, “I like the ones you’ve given me. ‘Tiger’ is pretty cute, and fitting, I suppose.” With a cheeky grin, he gestured at the markings on his cheeks. They weren’t all that similar to the stripes of a tiger, but the Darai couldn’t help the joking comparison.
Faolan found his kiss was returned with tenderness, with a heart full of affection. The Darai’s lips curled into a smile, and he gently cupped Faolan’s cheek. For a good while, he had feared he had messed up beyond repair, that his old habits of survival had cost him the person he loved, but that fear had begun to fade. Edge felt exhaustion wash over him, tension slowly releasing its hold on his body, making it easier to breathe.
As they sat there, in comfortable silence, their fingers entwined, a sense of peace settled in the apartment. Softly, Edge placed a kiss on the top of the doctor’s head and murmured against his hair: “Thank you, Faolan…”
