"Yeah, it does." He said with another smile. He meant what he said. Ari pulled off the look well, though he did seem suprised by the compliment.
"Thanks," he laughed a little at that. "I guess so? At my old workplace - Wathais General Hospital - there were only a couple of other spliced doctors, mostly in the plastic surgery or splicing wards. I sometimes used to wear contacts, because some patients don't like it, but I never got any complaints." He shrugged and tapped his foot against the ground as he spoke, but kept the easy smile on his face, noticing Aris nervous rambling and fidgeting. The poor man hadn't relaxed since he'd sat down.
"But at the WDSA...most of the doctors arent human, and the patients too, so it isn't really an issue?" Another shrug before he fell silent, looking progressively more sympathetic as Ari spoke.
"I understand. Rough times, its just a blur, huh? It's good you got out of all that, though." At the mention of having moved from the south, he smiled and leant forwards. "Me too! I moved here a while ago, but it..." his enthusiasm faded some as he thought, but he picked up where he left off without too much of a pause. "It was for the same kind of reasons. Wathais is a good place to start over, I guess? But yeah, I really hate the cold, too. Where did you used to live?"

"Mm. Uh, Westcrown originally. It was... I mean, there's um. There's supers there too?" Ari dropped his voice lower as he spoke, aware that they were in a public place and, well, who knew who was listening. "I mean, there's probably supers, uh, everywhere really. But, you know... It's more... not really out of the open, but not buried so deep here, yeah? If that makes sense, anyway... It was uh... I mean, I guess the city is okay? Not as much nature around, as there is here..."
Ari grimaced slightly to himself, scratching at the back of his neck, then reached to take sip of his coffee to pull his thoughts together again. "I've uh, I've moved around a lot. It seems like a good place here, though. It's uh, probably the longest I've stayed in one place in a while. And I'm not thinking about leaving anytime soon, yeah? Even-Even with that... curse thing. But um, enough about that, yeah?" He made a small gesture with his hand, as if pushing that topic away again. "What about you? Where'd you come from, before you came here?"

Faolan nodded somberly. There probably were supers in most cities - but at least Wathais knew how to deal with them, had a legal system and specialized medical care and everything else smaller towns didn't have. It meant there were more of them, but at least everyone was safer, this way.
“I grew up in Codale, by the coast. It's not too far from Westcrown, actually. I liked it there, but I had to move for college, since there weren't any decent med-schools in that area.” he shrugged, smiled faintly. “Uh and...straight after college I moved up here. Got my first job here, so you know, the city is my home, now.” the doctor glanced out the window and tapped a foot against the floor. “So I'm also not moving anytime soon. I really enjoy working for the WDSA…”
Even though nobody seemed to know - or care, really - about the curse. Maybe because no one was actually injured by it. That was ignoring all the mental trauma and stress, of course. But when there were no physical wounds, no evidence, it was easily brushed off and ignored in leeway of more important matters.
